I like how modest Zidane is in these interviews. Great player. Not my favourite, but definitely worthy of a mention along with the greats. He is beautiful to watch.

@GuruTruthSpeakYou came here to criticise a football player for his personal life, I tell you that who the fuck cares about what he did with his personal life when he is remembered as a football player, but I am the braindead apparently...
Maradona wasn't a legend. He was very easily the greatest player I've ever seen play the game in over 50 years. Very, very easily and without any exception. Greatness means different things to different people. To some, greatness is about scoring goals and various other statistics. To me, true greatness in footballing terms is being able to do things with a football or on a football field that no one else on earth was capable of doing. That's Maradona. That's what he did and what I'm yet to see anyone come anywhere close to doing any of the things he did quite routinely. Others like Messi and Ronaldo have surpassed him by miles and miles in consistency, most definitely. Not to mention their amazing longevity while maintaining the highest of levels throughout, but neither of them could do what this guy could with a football, nor have I ever seen anyone else be able to. He was and still is, the best, most exceptionally and uniquely skilled footballer I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing. In literally about 10 minutes of seeing him at his peak, you would instantly realize you would never see this level of footballer again. Absolutely nothing has changed for me all these decades later, just like I knew they wouldn't. It was crystal clear if you saw it with your own eyes. Skill level at GOD mode. As Messi once famously said, Even if I played for a million years, I'd never come close to Maradona. Not that I'd want to anyway. He's the greatest there's ever been - And he's absolutely right, because he doesn't have that skill set. You need to be born with it, just as Messi was born with close ball control that Maradona could never do - you're either born with it or you aren't, it can't be taught.
I saw footage of various players in action and based on it, my view on best players I have seen are: 1. Maradona 2. Messi Then plenty of others in no particular order are Platini, Zidane, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo (Brazil) etc. I did not see enough of Pele, Beckenbaur, Cryuff to judge them. Based on my understanding, Maradona was the most marked player during his career, who lifted a pretty hopeless team like Napoli to the team entirely through his skill and inspiration. Maradona is a football God

Modern era great footballers play on ground is like a freestyle for Maradona in his past illustrious career. One and only Diego Armando Maradona, the best in the world and the rest just follow him.
Zidane is always considered to be a legend and he is even greater than Messi.. Messi has lost his chance to win WC and Zidane was the reason that France won in 1998. He is best in all forms of football Messi and Maradona are great but players like Zidane are born in centuries.
mohd anas - see this while video till the end and hear what Zidane himself says in fact this whole video is about Zidane trying to explain why he considers Maradona the best. Once again no one like Maradona.
Diego. Levels above the others, both past and present. He played in by far the toughest era for a footballer, when there was always two players sent out there just to kick him.
I get the impression that Maradona is one of those people whose life is shaped by a rare combination of traits; an incredible drive to succeed at their goals in life; gifted with specific skills; they choose to use those skills in their occupation; they have these traits starting at a young age. People like this achieve greatness in their occupation. However, they are usually deficient in other areas. In Maradona's case he was susceptible to drug addiction and other demons. But what an amazing life!
Some people close to Maradona says that he was a very intelligent person. Victor Hugo Morales, a journalist, says that Maradona could succed in any field of science, art, sports, whatever. Morales says that with his intelligence and his competitive spirit, Maradona could be a doctor, an accountant, an opera singer, whatever he wanted.
Maradona ruined Messi for me. Messi is unbelievable, he truly is. The greatest in many ways, in my opinion. But when it comes to ability with a football, Messi never ever, not even once, did a single thing with a football that I thought wow, I've never seen that before. Diego did though, still waiting to see many of the things he did, but it's not going to happen. He was basically like Messi's dribbling and now Messi's passing ability, combined with Ronaldinho's skill set (maybe higher), with a rock star and entertainer attitude to go with it. Maradona didn't have the consistency many players of today have, but he had an ability with a football I've never seen in my life, no one comes even close to be honest. He also won a WC as close to single handedly that any other player simply couldn't do, not even if you gave them 5 attempts at it. Totally unique and unforgettable. Respect to Zidane for this by the way, but he was obviously very clearly a fan Diego's, just like everyone else in the world was at that time. Next level.
Platini - "What Zidane could do with a football, Maradona could do with an Orange" Yeah but what Platini could do with an orange, Zidane could do with a grape

I agree - without disrespect to the rest of the team, he virtually won the World Cup in 86 single handedly - and that will NEVER happen again in the modern game. The rest of the players in that side how so much time because upto 7 opposition players would be marking maradona in each game!
Zidane wasn't even close to Maradona's genius. Of course Zidane was great but his fanboys are getting on my nerves. There was only one player who had the potential to surpass Maradona and that was Ronaldo Fenomeno
MegaGoodoldtimes youre absolutely right!the most people are dumb...dont care about them.R9 potential was limitless! today he cant even enter a top 10 list, what is very sad!R9 and diego are the 2 most talented and gifted players ever!!! the same with mike tyson in boxing...but that is another story!
It's not so obvious to me, I personally think people usually forget about why past legend were considered the best in his times. How many people here have seen at least 20 full matches of Maradona/Pele ????
yeah zidane played on a blessed french team that had taltented players like theirry henry (one of best strikers in world), laurent blanc, makelele (world class midfielder), patrick viera (perhaps one of best defenders in world at the time), and others. on the contrary, maradona played alongside normal players. In fact, of the 1986 argentine world champs, only MARADONA played in Europe! all the other argentines played locally and none where world class. Yet he still won it all single handedly!
Well, it seems that Zidane would do it with a little more practice. Practice, that's the secret. Maradona practiced everything, even goals with the hand.
To all haters Zidane schooled R9 in 2006 with flick over his head I love both players but Zidane football wise would be better, he was amazing at an old age as well
Zidane was a late blossomer. It's only when he played for Bordeaux that Europe became aware of his existence. He wasn't a young talent anymore by then.
Zidane had the best ball control of any player in the world, and he knew how to score at the right time. Thanks to Zizou, we won a World Cup, a Euro, and Confederations Cup, all in a row. He also won 3 FIFA World Player of The Year awards, more than anyone else except Ronaldo. However, he landed in 2nd and 3rd place more often than Ronaldo, making him the most successful player of all time.
does anyone have the video that he's talking about? The one with Maradona hitting the crossbar several times in a row? It'd be really nice to see that...
you see guys? it doesn't matter what you think of Zidane or Maradona, it's what ZIDANE THINKS OF MARADONA, he awknowledge Maradona being unique, a super class, a different class, Maradona is Zidane's idol! Zidane king of France, even bigger than platini, but Maradona is the GOD OF FOOTBALL!
Honestly they are on the same league when it comes mastery over game. Deago was a little more flashy and spirited to Zindanes subtle charisma and control. But it wasn't a huge difference both in terms of silverware, performing on the big stages and individual glory. Its like comparing Ferrari to Porche, everyone has their preference but most choose Ferrari out of sheer reputation.
I am not sure if that video is available, but I have definitely seen Maradona paying the ball on the crossbar. He would shoot the ball and the ball would bounce off the crossbar and come back to him. He was doing that from some distance away. I'll post it here if I find it. Please if anyone finds it, post it here.
It's not possible to be Maradona! He is the GOD of the game. The closest players came to match Maradona's genius are Messi and Brazil's Ronaldo Lima. You can't disagree if you saw this 3 footballers game play without being bias for a moment. Zidane, Pele, Di Stefano, Cruyff, Puskas, Ronaldinho, Platini, Cristiano and others are simply in another category, though all are legends of the beautiful game called football!

Maradona is the only one that can take any team to win any cups or series
El Pibe, Zizu,Sir Stanley Mathews e Crwiff.
I agree - without disrespect to the rest of the team, he virtually won the World Cup in 86 single handedly - and that will NEVER happen again in the modern game. The rest of the players in that side how so much time because upto 7 opposition players would be marking maradona in each game!
Maradona and Zidane ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Maradona ❤🙏
Zidane wasn't even close to Maradona's genius. Of course Zidane was great but his fanboys are getting on my nerves. There was only one player who had the potential to surpass Maradona and that was Ronaldo Fenomeno
And you're stupid.
MegaGoodoldtimes you are totally right even Zidane would say that
Antoine Wolfgang shut up fanboy
429kostas Please refrain from crying.
How many people here have seen at least 20 full matches of Maradona/Pele ????
he can't do it and he is a brilliant player
Maradona is a genius for sure
yeah zidane played on a blessed french team that had taltented players like theirry henry (one of best strikers in world), laurent blanc, makelele (world class midfielder), patrick viera (perhaps one of best defenders in world at the time), and others. on the contrary, maradona played alongside normal players. In fact, of the 1986 argentine world champs, only MARADONA played in Europe! all the other argentines played locally and none where world class. Yet he still won it all single handedly!
Well, it seems that Zidane would do it with a little more practice. Practice, that's the secret. Maradona practiced everything, even goals with the hand.
zidane and figo... good stuff
Zidane ... a great player also.
1)Maradona
2)zico
3)cruyff
4)pele
5)beckenbauer
6)Di stefano
7)ronaldo
8)van basten
9)platini
10)zidane
Zidane-s childhood idol is Francescolli.
Zidane had magic too. Incredible player. But Maradona is the King.
Maradona, Messi, Zidane , Ronaldo9 and Ronaldo7 are the GOATs. Ronaldinho can do the crossbar trick better than anyone else.
To all haters Zidane schooled R9 in 2006 with flick over his head I love both players but Zidane football wise would be better, he was amazing at an old age as well
Lmfao that don’t mean shit and r9 did the same in 98
BOLLOCKS 👢
Zidane was a late blossomer. It's only when he played for Bordeaux that Europe became aware of his existence. He wasn't a young talent anymore by then.
Zidane had the best ball control of any player in the world, and he knew how to score at the right time. Thanks to Zizou, we won a World Cup, a Euro, and Confederations Cup, all in a row. He also won 3 FIFA World Player of The Year awards, more than anyone else except Ronaldo. However, he landed in 2nd and 3rd place more often than Ronaldo, making him the most successful player of all time.
Yes I agree mate, after Maradona.
does anyone have the video that he's talking about? The one with Maradona hitting the crossbar several times in a row? It'd be really nice to see that...
you see guys? it doesn't matter what you think of Zidane or Maradona, it's what ZIDANE THINKS OF MARADONA, he awknowledge Maradona being unique, a super class, a different class, Maradona is Zidane's idol! Zidane king of France, even bigger than platini, but Maradona is the GOD OF FOOTBALL!
at the end zidane looks like he gets angry slightly when the man says maradona!
im fan of nobody but wtf how could you compare Zidane to Maradona?
Maradona is better for sure.
I agree but he was best after Maradona, some passes of zizou remind me Maradona.
O REI ZIZOU.......THE BEST
I am not sure if that video is available, but I have definitely seen Maradona paying the ball on the crossbar. He would shoot the ball and the ball would bounce off the crossbar and come back to him. He was doing that from some distance away. I'll post it here if I find it. Please if anyone finds it, post it here.
same thing was told about ronaldinho, being from another planet (when he scored against chelsea in the chempions league)
RIP Maradona
pele and maradona and messi are bulls. zizou is an artist
The fact that you've not seen it, doesn't mean that it's not out there. I've seen it lots of times.
Kids be like "messi is better" XD
HAHAAH exactly!
so he isnt better because they do cool stuff in training, lmao
Messi is better, deal with it old man
Grandpa be like ' Pele is better !'
@@DaBusUncle Hahha...Pele is a fraud! He is not even the best Brazilian footballer in my opinion. Ronaldo Lima is the best Brazilian.
Zidane was the best, his foot must be in a museum, pelé and maradonna in a Farm
It's not possible to be Maradona! He is the GOD of the game. The closest players came to match Maradona's genius are Messi and Brazil's Ronaldo Lima. You can't disagree if you saw this 3 footballers game play without being bias for a moment.
Zidane, Pele, Di Stefano, Cruyff, Puskas, Ronaldinho, Platini, Cristiano and others are simply in another category, though all are legends of the beautiful game called football!
zidane is a legend, european legends: cruyff, beckanbaur, best, platini, van basten, puskas, baggio, stoichkov, muller, not just south americans!
