Id like to have something like this to play with. Id like to have a big pump and have impacts down the pipe and a couple guns on it. Maybe a PC or P100 nelson and maybe a P200. Also maybe a 85 and 65 and f44s down the pipe. I know that would be a very involved system but it would be cool to have also. Also that is pretty cool! Looks nice!
I'm assuming you are either in the industry, or have been in the past? Awesome work. I'd buy parts from my work (I work in a Reinke Irrigation distribution center in Idaho) but of course it's all the big stuff. Need to fabri-cobble something like this together. Awesome work dude!!
@@madwiner Good stuff man! Good stuff! I like your ingenuity and way of thinking. What part of NE do you hail from? I'm sure you have to be familiar with our main plant in Deshler. Both of the people I work with lived there as well.
Really cool ! I'm Into ag irrigation I've liked it since I was little. My fav thing are the old nelson fast reverse guns. I've got a collection myself. I have a P100,P150, and P200 and 2 PC100s. The P200 I just got needs repaired because the bearings siezed and it doesn't rotate. Has a 1.56" nozzle. Need to find stops for it though
I'm just thinking about building something like this for my 5 acre (2ha) hayfield. Really only 500$ for everything??? This is very inspiring. I'll probably try 2" pipe with 2 or 3 spans, and I need to run it with as little pump energy as possible (aiming for ~1000W solar powered well pump) so I'm thinking about trailing many small hoses down close to the ground instead of sprinklers, so the evaporation & wind losses are minimized.
Could build one for that and depending how deep your well is, 1000w panels could work. BUT building one of these is a pain and a lot of cutting, drilling and fabricating. Yes this cost me like $500 in parts and 40 sum hours of labor to get done with a drill ,grinder and vice. But if you wanted to go bigger it will be more $. For 2" span, 80' span would work 8-10' sticks of pipe, could go 100' but it would get floppy, also the wheel drive would need up graded to wheel worm gears. The price would go up a lot. The sprinklers I used were senninger mini wobbler and Xcel wobbler, these sprinklers work on very low pressure and throw large drops of water to reduce evaporation
@@madwiner I was thinking of using geared hub motors like in electric wheelbarrows, or maybe windshield wiper motors. Even better (no electricity needed) would be a water turbine, geared way down, but somehow I cant find any. Do you think PE pipe might be stiff enough or should i stick with galvanized steel? Why are the sprinklers always mounted on top instead of on the bottom?
@@c2h7 One of the other mini pivots I built ran on water drive, I just used one of them yellow tractor walking sprinklers. I extended the wands up above the tower and left it one wheel drive. The problem was that it was very hard to keep it running the same speed and keep good water coverage. Any change in grade or to run over the garden hose would cause large changes in speed
@@madwiner I was thinking more of an enclosed water turbine (which is driven by waterflow but does not spray out) and then geared down several times (maybe also with a worm drive) to creep very slowly, but surely.
It was a 2 rpm 12v dc gear motor I got from surplus center in Lincoln NE. I just checked and they don't have that one any more, but any good sized low rpm motor will work. Its a DC motor so to change directions I just change the polarity with a on/on 6 pole toggle switch, and yes I dooo have the reversing pole on it now and it DOE'S auto reverse on its own
Could you design yourself a water drive? a Pivot that is driven forward by water? i seen a heinzman water drive pivot with a paddle wheel with water streams shooting it driving it forward.
This has be so baffled could you please break down the main town and how you were able to achieve a full 360 degree rotation or maybe help me with a parts list cause I very much would like to know I’m building one for a small wild flower field to help sustain my bee colony’s
Do you mean the center point? Do you mean the water swivel? I upgraded from what is on this now to a 1" shark bite connector and it works just fine. Tell you what I will just shoot another vid.
madwiner Excuse me I meant your main tower where your main water line comes in then 90s out at top of tower what allows you to get full rotation my email is zanthom97@gmail I have more questions as well

Heck yeah it's neat... Good work there fella...
Do you have any nelson big guns ? I've always liked them as a kid. Especially the P200s. Those have some insane range!
Pretty cool, could use something like this on my mini farm.
Super, can this be done for 25 meter radius? What if use electric wheels from bicycle or whatever to move wheels? Great job man!
What did you use for your gear motor?
Cool pivot
I love it ❤
Wow my dreem project🔥❤
Cool pivot! What did you do for pipe on this build? Is it just galv sch 40 pipe?
Its 1" EMT tubing for wires
Man I am impressed by your centre pivot and wish to be your distributor here in Botswana. Pls get in touch with me as urgently as you can.
It could be a good idea. Congratulations.
nice
What exactly did you use for the motor and the drive system?
got a 1.8 rpm 12 vdc gear motor that runs to a 2.5 to 1 on the center drive, then a 3 to 1 from the center to each wheel

Nice... Well I have been working for a T/L dealer in nebraska for 17 years now and been building strange stuff for a long time :)
Like my loader mower

can anyone with any idea on which size of lateral pipe is used on this pivot please. quite interesting
One inch EMT
