    saying chime isnt build v build is ridiculous because the point of 1v1s hinges on your build and your skill so of course builds are going to matter, its like saying there arent any counter matchups or metas in fighting games
    not to mention verse 2 is way more build vs build because of the overload of talents and paths, but that isnt unique to chime. the only chime unique builds that exist are builds that can only ever function in a vacuum, of a non organic set 1v1 with no outside factors like being outnumbered or having a war with alot of other people. these builds tend to be just as braindead as jetstriker max agility builds that have no feasible way of dying just in a different form like cheesing blood shadow or relying on macro feint guardbreaks etc.
    the problem with chime is that
    1. it detracts from the organic nature of the game being an explorative game that has lore and introduces a gamemode (gamemodes in general take away from the immersion) that ends up removing any sense of environment beyond just reading words on the screen for lore
    2. chime puts to light the issues with the actual game itself and how flawed the combat can be (which it is because now fights devolve into autopilot 5+ minute parry trading which has its own set of issues) meaning the games combat is much too dragged out and static
    there are still cool things you can do if you're good at the game its just that the game needs more of that and less of stalemates between players until one eventually lags or misinputs, there needs to be more agency for the players against being able to press F and roll then press F again. adding a million guardbreaking moves and then making posture insanely strong does not balance the game it just pushes it further down
    3. skill on this game is 80% based on experience and maybe 20% based on actual proactive gameplay. i can guarantee you that most if not all players are better than you simply for having played the game longer, because most of the combat is tunnel visioned on being experienced enough (playing the game long enough) to know timings. the second that people started to learn how to play around parrying to force people that wait on you to actually read what you do next instead of just simply staring at their screen? completely gutted any form of movement after getting parried and combat, to a point where you are genuinely forced into a trade even if all they did was just stand there while you took the time to actually think about how to play
    be serious and ask yourself if you actually feel good losing to someone purely because you spent LESS time on the game, doesnt even matter if you adapt more than they do or mechanically play better. if they can parry roll loop you, you're done. the difference between pros in other games and top players in this one is that pros in other games put the practice outside of autopilot to not only find better ways to play but harder ways to play. in this game, its almost entirely just how long you play because all of the freedom that resided outside of knowing parry timings or how to simply roll after parrying was removed. many think that this refers to jetstriker back when they could strafe your parrying to death but that was genuinely a jetstriker balancing issue, this tackles the endlag given to players on parry before they can attack again or even be able to sprint after parrying
    in general, chime existing does take away from the game but the gameplay issues and balance issues merely show themselves much more in chime, they still exist even outside of those. if it were me, id genuinely remove chime and focus on balancing being based on ganking because you cant balance chime and overworld ganking in the same way, it just wont happen because chime is based on a vacuum of 1v1s that take no environmental factors into account or mobility etc. the best builds arent just based on pure 0 range power, they're based on spacing and range and mobility and versatility. the best build in deepwoken will NOT be the same as the best chime build in deepwoken because chime builds are just as warped as trackstar builds when it comes to cheese.

      to me build vs build means it's 100% impossible to kill an opponent because of a build and that only exists in overworld where mobility can make you immortal from another player due to them having different mobility

      1. nogo never said that builds dont matter. When people say "build vs build" they typically mean its impossible to beat someone on account of their build being better or having more mobility, as nogo explained under the comment. He said chime isnt build vs build because that simply doesnt happen in chime, it happens in the overworld.
      2. some people simply dont enjoy deepwoken in the same way as you. saying chime "detracts" from the organic nature of deepwoken, as if the fact that people have thousands of hours on this game doesnt, makes no sense to me. you know what makes a game stale? its not chime, its the fact that people have played this game for hundreds of hours, and that entails boredom.
      3. devs already tried fixing parry trading in verse 2. do you have any constructive criticism as to how they could fix this? most chime fights in my elo(1650) are not "dragged out parry trades".
      4. from this point on you makes increasingly less sense. "skill is based on experience, not actual gameplay". notwithstanding how contradictory this statement is, considering gameplay is a part of experience, i can guarantee you thats wrong. i have a friend with thousands of hours who cant beat me 1v1 because i "proactively" spent most of my time doing chime and 1v1ing people, whereas he spent a lot of time making a plethora of builds but mastering none of them.
      5. "be serious and ask yourself if you actually feel good losing to someone purely because you spent less time on the game" this makes no sense as a criticism. thats how games work. ignoring the fact that youre wrong about more playtime meaning you can beat anyone with less playtime, as that quote implies, why would this be an issue?
      6. balancing does not need to revolve around ganking, but i agree that ganking has many balance issues. one of them being jetstrikers and mobility builds, which, from your complaints so far, sounds like the sort of build you use in overworld fights. "chime takes no environmental factors or mobility into account" whenever people say this it reeks of the sort of guys who play high mobility builds and run from every encounter they're in. some of us dont enjoy chasing you.

      @@Champ_7298 notice how you purely spent your time playing chime and consider yourself much better than them from how LONG you played and not how skilled you are at the game, meaning you just equate your skills to your hours. like i said, this game is almost entirely just how long you play. it isnt something avoidable but it becomes a problem if all of the gameplay is rewarded based on how many hours you dumped into autopiloting
      1. nogo never said that but it applies in chime just as much as it does overworld and both of them are extremely build-based ATM
      2. majority of players do not enjoy chime and the game was not designed with chime in mind so it logically makes sense that even if other people like chime that it doesnt change that chime shouldnt be as prevalent as it is rn
      and the game is not stale because people played alot, this game is stale because there is no real reason to even be in the overworld as a max if you can just play chime. not to mention the complete lack of permadeath and even if you went to depths gank, you have depth gimmick builds that spark swap out and then pop half your hp with a C-slot medium instantly
      logically why would you even be in the overworld or depths with a pvp incentive if both unkillable and unavoidable cheese exist to make it so 2 competent players means you will 100% die
      3. reduce parry window and remove giving everyone tap dancer on top of capping posture just as they hard capped dmg stacking
      4. you basically saying someone who spends their time build making and not really playing the game compared to someone who spends all their time in chime must mean that people who spend alot of time in a game doesnt make them skilled. which would make sense had i not mentioned that EXPERIENCE dictates entirely how a fight goes with no player agency, meaning that purely because you played more chime it means that guy even if he outsmarted you mid fight would still mean absolutely nothing, and etc.
      in other words you're just agreeing with me because its like i said. just because he spent his time doing nothing to even push himself to be good at the game doesnt mean he's a good baseline to go off of for 'played alot = good'
      5. in other games experience still plays a vital part in winning and losing but it does not purely cause the impossibility of winning, there is a reason that the term 'upset' exists. upsets will almost never exist in deepwoken because it is like i said way too hard for someone to outplay another without just having played longer because most of the gameplay is based on rewarding the most autopilot part of the entire game.
      6. if you were actually reading youd understand that chime not taking these things into account causes balancing voids where running builds with ways to kill you and ways to never die will exist because they do not work as effectively in chime yet in the overworld they are simply unbeatable. ofc since u clearly took everything in bad faith it went right over your head. yes it mentions that chime builds are not accurate to optimal play of the game because it takes nothing besides an enclosed 1v1 into account, but it also shows that anything outside of chime thats busted will also not be nerfed effectively or even handled. maybe actually read what i wrote instead of reading what you think i wrote

    resetting elo and making boosting strikable/bannable would easily solve some of the extreme boosting thats been going on.

      @@shango90 no because people will figure out how to cheese/boost no matter what. Leaderboard players will make cheesy runner builds just to play the storm and not fight people legit. Plus chances are the same people will keep winning the same rewards. There is no reason to add them

    boosting is also bad for lower elo players, boosters cause accounts to go down to very low elo, to recoupp and salvage the accont they essentially smerf causing lower elo players to fight people much above their skill grade

    I think an easy fix to the storm is just to make it so it doesn't damage you, but it knocks you into the safe circle.
    So it achieves the same goal of getting players to stop running away from each other, without making builds that are centred around knocking you into the storm viable.

    they gotta disable rocket lance knockback in chime or make it much more less. Half the ironsingers i fight against i lose to because they did over 2 bars by abusing rocket lance

    1:14 why don’t you just make the storm a solid barrier that just force people closer to each other to begin with

    - Not so close where 1 flourish can kick someone into the barrier
    - Make it so the barrier can’t be climbed

    Not being able to queue someone more then two times just makes lower elo chime hell in 1.2k elo I either queue into the same 3-4 people around my elo or wait 5 minutes to fight someone who I’m just so much better then it’s not fun for either person. Also it’s fun to get a rematch on someone who just owned you and see that +23. I feel like that rule should apply to winning rather than queuing

    They could fix it by making storm only start doing dmg after a set amount of time continuously in the storm so you would have time to get back

    2:57 this will probably kill eu matchmaking, or at the very least make it much more painful. high elo eu is already dead enough as is (I often fight the same 3 people), and while I appreciate the attempt, we're probably better off without that

    I agree, Im not really even all that good at pvp, ive went agasin't people with high ranks and won with no effort, its just not fun when you can win over and over, I feel like they should make it so the storm instead of doing dmg right away it takes like 3-5 seconds, or REMOVE the storm and but a barrier so people can't escape, like that 1 book room map in chime, you can just climb and run.

    they are using a ranking system that requires more players only real way around it is to ban boosters or reset their elo when found out but that creates a whole other problem

    I really think Chime Elo gave that small incentive for people to push for cheese builds and boosting. Some people may think no it doesn’t, but clearly it does in higher levels of play.
    I’ve seen other people say this and I’d agree with adding a casual chime without elo or ranked matches. Cause elo also had its separate problems of spreading out the already thin matchmaking by way too much. And some people just want to test or play with a build, not sweat or cheese for some number in a game.

    Split chime into two seperate options
    One that works similarily to the current one with skulls, but has a greatly buffed xp, bell xp, and loot table. It would have its own ELO ranking.
    Another that doesnt have any skulls, but also has no loot or xp, this would also have its own unique ELO ranking

    cant we have ganking as a more prominent piece of the game as it is a hardcore game. implementing things like guild rewards and overworld elo. and guild leaderboards. and just imagine at prime gank spots once 2 or more of each guild walk into like nomad camp or song or erisia it gets blocked off so they cant leave
