Looking forward to that video! I just was thinking about making one myself! Incra is good, and accurate, but even 8" long pieces for frames kind of (ok, REALLY, RRALLY) scare me! 3000rpm, 60ish dull carbide teeth within 3 inches of my hand....
Thanks for the pinned comment. I was looking for the updated videos. I look forward to seeing them! As always ... Thank you David for everything you do for us!
Currently in the process of making some frames. I made your spline jig from the previous video and was thinking about making the sled. Can't wait to see the new versions!
Couple of ideas to upgrade and make the jig more complete: a) number the holes, so no counting necessary, less chances of errors b) in the center piece you can set a threaded rod, fix in one side and with a knob in the other to do the tightening without clamps. Loved the disco-workshop bit!
I was going to suggest numbering the holes, but I didn't even think of the threaded rod idea. Nice. A few extra pieces of hardware on the holts can also improve the setup a little. As it is, the raw wing nuts will cut into the wood when tightened, and might fall off when loose. Adding washers to the top will keep the wing nuts from digging in. Adding washers to the middle will make the movement a little smoother. And replacing the wind nut with a hex nut and an acorn nut, tightened against each other, will keep the bolt in place but allow it to be loose enough for the wood to move. I'd also recommend replacing those carriage bolts with some plain hex-head holts, and adding washers to the bottom, inside the counter sinks. That will help the wood to move freely while the bolts and nuts stay firmly locked to each other.
All my pieces cut , holes measured & finishing it this weekend , like you using good wood "Mahogany" & rounding all pieces... Thanks for the video ... already made the picture frame jig..
I see that you are a mine of knowledge for me and I am just starting my adventure with DIY. A thumbs up and thank you for the movies. Greetings from Poland Adam
Or even just mark every 3rd or 5th hole or something. Maybe countersink a contrasting color inlay before drilling the holes. Gotta have some overkill, right? :)
Love your videos. I decided to make the clamp using my CNC so I bought your plan for the info and designed it in Vcarve Pro. What a brilliant idea, thank you for sharing this and all your other wonderful videos.
I really like what you did here. Very clever little jig with a lot of flexibility in the sizing. I think you just got me a little excited to try making a frame for the first time... Now I just need to find the time to learn the technique. Ill have to watch your other videos again. Thanks! And keep making!! ;)
Ordering the plans and poster for my wood shop class. As a first year shop teacher I'm finding your content incredibly helpful and inspiring. Thanks and keep up the good work!
David...... brilliant !! Also, great video as always. I am alway excited to see what you come up with and make next. I’m so sure makings this project for myself. Nice job!!
I love stuff like this because it's helps me as a woodworking noob think outside the box(pun). I always look for what I can buy to solve the problem instead of how the problem should be solved.
I very rarely buy plans but I will be buying the plans for this! It is a beautiful idea and would make me more motivated to make picture frames! Thank you for being a constant inspiration!
I love your channel, particularly your Frame Making stuff. I've made your picture frame jig and hope to make a bunch for Christmas this year. Keep up the good work, i'd like to see more advanced frame profiles
I've been wanting to make this jig for...well since I first saw the original video. Finally my procrastination pays off and I can incorporate the improvements! Great jig and great video!
Very nice! I bought so many picture framing jigs but none of them work right. This may be the solution. Tip - Number each hole so its easy to slot and re-slot without counting holes. I like the Dewalt clamps, nicely made and they hold their grips. I can't stand the Irwin clamps. Cost does not matter. You should not curse when you use them, you should smile. Note: Dewalt and every other brand, the rubber caps come off or degrade with use. Glue them in place from the start so you don't lose a rubber grip. For gluing metal to almost any other material, including rubber, nothing comes in better rated than Loctite ultra-gel glue ($4.49, Amazon) - be sure it is the blue bottle for GEL not red bottle for LIQUID. For wood working, use Titebond II (interior) or III (exterior), best PVA wood glue there is.
You know a guy has a big shop when you see potted succulents right behind his tabletop miter station! Good jig, ill be making one as I just got my Incra miter gauge set up to within 1/256" over 2.5-3" of dead square! Woodworkers love overkill....lighting and cinematic effects!
David, I'm always looking forward to the next video from you~! Building a couple of these just went to the top of my shop project list~!! Funny that you called the "interesting" frame cutting part Airplane Mode, because the first thing that came to mind as I was watching was Jefferson Airplane's song, "White Rabbit". Groovy, man~! :-) lol

I bet those clamps would work for making mitered boxes as well. 🤔

Numbering holes is a good idea, but clamp method is much faster. Also, it keeps the jig in two halves for easier storage.
That or you could just close the jig so that the holed pieces are aligned next to each other. Then it’s easy to just use the same hole on both sides
I have an aluminum "Clamp Mate" brand version of this and the threaded rod is cumbersome to use.
This looks a million times easier to setup than a band clamp. Thanks for sharing!
I'm making this! I bought a strap clamp, which works well, but your jig... Oh man. Game changer.
Looks great! Since it's a tool that will probably outlive both of us, it's worth taking the time to make it look good.
Thanks and agreed!
Dan is really killing it in this space ship mode. Love it!
Great, David. I've seen a lot of picture frame clamps on UA-cam but this is the best one. Thanks. Stay safe.
Bill
loved it! MoAR Spaceship mode!
I can see it going well especially with future CNC / music production sequences
Yes please!
I guess it's kind of off topic but do anyone know of a good place to watch new tv shows online ?
LOVE your humor, and your video, thanks.😀
Definitely making this. Thank you for sharing.
Black light Elvis woodworking! WOO HOO!! Love this project specifically and your channel in general! Non-stodgy woodworking is so refreshing!
Love the jig. I numbered the holes. Helps alot. Thanks
What a great jig - I'm making one this weekend. Thank you 🙂
Insert Diresta Baby Voice.... "but I don't have the disco lights, so I can't use my table saw like that". HA! Love what you produce. Keep it up. :)
Terrific jig. Great build.
Very clever jig
Amazing! Simple, smart and better than anything out there you could buy. Great video.
I loved literally everything about this video.
Square frame jig sponsored by Square Space. Nice. I love that jig design. Perfect.
All my pieces cut , holes measured & finishing it this weekend , like you using good wood "Mahogany" & rounding all pieces... Thanks for the video ... already made the picture frame jig..
Gotta love fumbling in the dark with the studio lighting ;)
This is an awesome jig. I don't do a lot of woodwork (yet). But I'm making one of these!
This is the only maker channel I watch wearing headphones. Love the tunes.

💯 I couldn’t click fast enough to purchase the plans. I’m so needing this in my life. Thank you. Great video. Great podcast every week as well.
Oh man, thanks Eric!!
Incredible!! Thank you so much for the video. Greetings from Curicó, Chile!
If you number the holes, you won't have to count them every time. Great jig! Thanks for sharing
I was watching your first picture framing video just yesterday. Very timely!
Subscribed!
Ok, now I will order the plans for the Picture Frame Jig and Clamp. Thanks !
Just finished the frame jig, moving on to the spline jig. Thanks for the videos!
Wow this is an awesome jig! Turns out, I was ready for spaceship mode. Nice job David.
Great video! Going to make some of those. An idea is to write numbers next to the holes so you don't have to count every time you use them.
i truly would have never thought to do that and would have counted every time! Seriously, such a simple suggestion, like oh yeah
@@FB_Woodshop It´s the small things. =)
I'm thinking color coded bands.
Or even just mark every 3rd or 5th hole or something. Maybe countersink a contrasting color inlay before drilling the holes. Gotta have some overkill, right? :)
@@KenWeinert Exactly!
Great one!! I have been fumbling with the corner clamps and they are a PITA. Thank you!!
Great jig! Gotta get those rails in the CNC or Laser to get some numbers along the holes so you don’t have to count each time.
Awesome video, thanks for sharing
Coving on the table saw makes for some dope looking picture frames.
Haven’t tried this yet! Seems scary!
Great. I’m totally stealing this idea. Thank you. Love you.
Incredible !
Love from India-Kerala
Just from the thumb nail you got a 👍 from me.
Fantastic idea.
I like your video style more and more with each video. You seem to be having a lot of fun in the shop with Camera Dan
Jigs rock..will use this with my students
Been away from my own shop now for 7 months and wanted to make some picture frames when I get back, so This is kinda awesome. Love this jig!
Very nice job in this video as always teaching. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend keep making

This looks like a fantastic jig! And somewhere I have stashed away some wood shelving supports that have a ton of holes already drilled...
I made the miter and spline jigs from your old videos, look forward to these.
awesome project,

Nice jig. I just made your picture frame sled and making a spline jig and now I’ll make this and pump out some frames!
Loved your jig also really diggin space ship mode👍👍👍
OMG! I’m definitely going to make some of these! So simple! Glad I stumbled across your site 😁👍🏻
That’s a gorgeous jig. Well done!
Yes. This would be awesome!
Love it!
Mods to try, 1. Counter sink the bolts on the pacman parts and glue them in. 2. Number the holes with a wood burner.

Awesome jig . I can use it as well. Thank you for sharing
I need this in my life!!!! Great vid David!
Just an amazing jig
Dude! Game changer!
You could paint groups of pin holes to make the counting of the holes easier 🤔
My wife has been tasking me to making frames. That looks like a sweet tool, about to make myself one.
Love the music! Spaceship Mode!!!!

It also works great for gluing up drawers.
Good idea , maybe also put numbers near holes to make it quicker.
Great idea. Going to make one.

Great idea. You can even make smaller versions for 5x7 or so sized.

Spaceship mode for the win!
Great video I’m going to make this, one thing I’m going to add is wood burn numbers on the holes so I don’t have to count
