In this video, I'll be showing you how to free up a stuck button on your phone or tablet. By "stuck button," I mean the kind of malfunction that happens when dirt and grime accumulate around a button's housing, leaving you with a button that no longer gives you that "clicky" feeling, making it difficult to press.
Materials needed for this method are isopropyl alcohol, a Q-tip or two, and some canned air.

This type of alcohol cant get you or a phone drunk this would kill you if injestest enough or both will at some point.

Omg this method worked so well! One of my volume buttons was so stuck that I couldn't push it at all. I was out of rubbing alcohol so I used an alcohol swab and rubbed it on my volume button. It started clicking perfectly within seconds!! Round of applause for this guy because I was having issues with it for months before I found this video!! I didn't even need the canned air!
In the 6 years since you have posted this video, I can't imagine the amount of people that were grateful for this. I thought I would have to pay some sleazy phone repair shop, couldn't have fathomed that the solution would be this simple.

i had a stuck volume button on my iPad Air 2, just did this with a q-tip with plain old water instead of rubbing alcohol and it unstuck it just fine. just make you dry it after. and that the q tip is damp and no sopping wet.

Helpful tip for those who don't have rubbing alcohol : Just use a tiny drop of hand sanitiser and let that break down the build up or saturate a Q tip with perfume and clean as he did in the video. I did both and it genuinely worked.

Using hand sanitizer is a really bad idea! Hand sanitizer is usually made out of ethanol and vegetable gel. After the alcohol evaporates the gel is left behind and may gum the button up more than before.

I watched your video a few days ago. My galaxy s8 olus button didn't have that clicky feeling and especially when turning the volume down it would stick when i took my finger off and the volume would keep going down. I thought your method wouldn't work, but finally gave in and tried it. It works perfect now and has the clicky feeling. THANKS!

Do you have a suggested time for how long for the isopropyl to dry and when it is probably safe for the phone to be turned back on?

Yay this worked!!I wet a q-tip only a bit, squeezed off the excess and cleaned around the button.

I had my volume down button sticky on my s7 edge after i merged it in salt water, i watched this video and i tried it i didn't thought it would really work !! But now its like new !
But after a hour it came back stucky again so i did it again plus i put a very litlle litlle point of oil on it and now its been more than 4 hours and its like new !!

My galaxy s8's button for volume down specifically is messed up. Pressing where I normally would to turn down the volume does nothing while pressing where I aww would to turn the volume up works fine. To turn the volume down I have to press a certain spot around the middle of the button and then the phone continues to recieve input from the button until I press the volume up key again. My phone is perpetually in safe mode and I *really* don't have the time or money to send my phone in for repairs. Any suggestions that do not involve removing the rear glass panel?
Would nail polish remover be alright as a substitute?

Thank you so so much that your guiding helped me to solve my stuck button problem. It had been happened just 3 days ago. It was worrying and annoying that the push button got stucked. I have to open the back case ,take out the battery ,put it back again without closing the back case. Then it works. Once finished the search, power saving mode close automatically. To restart,have to repeat the same act again. Prepare to send to repair shop, over here the cost are exorbitantly expensive, worry also the data will be missing or stolen or lost.

Yeah... my Samsung Galaxy volume up button isn't making the click sound and feels softer to press than before. I will try this. I've only had this phone for 2 months. Hopefully this will work.

which solution can you use that one might find it early at home, just in case of we don't have the one that you mentioned
April 2022, and it worked... My problem was: the button was being pressed ALL THE TIME, so my phone was rebooting almost in loop. But it worked, I also used a needle to do the process. Hopefully it'll stay alright.

Omg it works! My button was kinda sticky and not pushing down as well. Thought it was my phone case! I was using disinfecting wipes on my phone, turns out it made the button harder to press. I will always use isopropyl alcohol from now on. Also used canned air. My button actually clicks! Problem solved! You deserve an award!

Thanks! it worked. It took about 5 minutes for the Down Volume button of the Samsung Tablet S2 to come out, it was really stuck at the same level of the tablet's case. I pressed down hard the button during and after I was cleaning, even if it wasn't moving at all.
I had no Alcohol so I used Havana Club Dry 7 years Old, now it seems that the people in the videos are kind of slow :)
