  • How to replace LCD back cover or a broken hinge repair on Acer Swift 3 // Acer Swift sf314-42 laptop? The same way to replace broken, cracked or faulty LCD screen panel on this laptop.
Very common issue on many laptops when one of the hinges break, usually the damaged part is LCD back cover, not the hinge, so this is the part you need replaced. Complete guide step by step on how to do it.

I am having a hard time taking off broken hinge side screw. It’s impossible to get it out and not the hinges are not aligning when I decided to put the laptop back without replacing new screen. Now keyboard not working and display panel side not aligning and falling.

You have more than one problem there obviously, and more parts that need replacing, hinges, display cable, etc.

Not sure to be honest would have to see it for myself, it shouldn't happen when opening and closing the lid that's for sure. If you are in any doubt and you have warranty contact the seller or Acer directly.

amazing video, however I am not sure if mine has the same problem? My front bezel's corner is slightly peeling off. When trying to close, it makes a loud cracking noise. It starts bending when I try to close it as well.

Then you just need to replace the front bezel then, that is easy and not an expensive repair.

@@alkibtech Just an update on it. I have not fixed it yet, however it does not turn on at all and while plugging the charger in, there is no signal showing that it is getting charged. Is this a side effect of the problem? Thanks.

@@StinkyPinkyMalinky No, that can point to faulty motherboard if there is not CPU fan spin, or any kind of LED light, can be something else, but usually MB.

great video! my laptop lid hinges are broken and service centre person thinks it cannot be repaired. Maybe there are other issues too which I do not know of. The lid falls backwards; I have to keep the lid against some support to use the laptop. I want to use the laptop with a separate monitor and I am thinking of removing the lid completely. Will it work? Is there anything I should take care of?

Thank you and hello. Yes, you can use it as a computer with and external monitor over HDMI. The only thing is that wi-fi will work weaker because the antenae are those cables going around the screen, so that's the only drawback.

The way these hinges break appears to be a common issue. The design is not fit for purpose if they are breaking during normal use. I can understand them breaking if the laptop has been dropped but otherwise they should last the life of the laptop. I think the manufacturer should be accountable for the repair as it’s unacceptable.
Is there anyway the broken hinge bracket can be bonded back rather than having to replace the case rear? There are modern adhesives that are very strong.
Any idea why the brackets are breaking like that?

If the laptop is under warranty, with broken hinges people should always try to get it repaired under the warranty, because you are right most of these accidents happen due to bad hinges from the manufacturer.
