$115,000 - (1985) Huckins 50 Pilothouse Motor Yacht For Sale - Rare Opportunity!!

- Mike Webster from Hansen Yachts recently invited me back down to Lambs Yacht Center in Jacksonville, Florida to check out more of his latest listings. When it comes to value for money, it is extremely difficult to beat this 1985 Huckins 50 Pilothouse Liveaboard Cruiser!! The boat is offered for sale for only $115,000 and is in turn key condition, waiting on a new owner to move onboard!!
The boat is powered by twin 2009 Cummins 6CTA8.3-M diesel engines, producing approximately 450HP each, and allows you to cruise at around 21 knots. As well as being twin diesel, this yacht also has a powerful bow thruster installed that makes close quarter maneuvering much easier for a boat of this size than you would normally expect.
The yacht is fully air conditioned, offers 2 staterooms, 2 heads compartments, a raised pilothouse, saloon, galley, and spacious aft cockpit. The hull is not a traditional wooden hull, or even a wooden hull fiber glassed over. Instead, this is an airex foam cored fiberglass construction making it very strong, very light, and with low maintenance compared to traditional wooden yachts.
You can find the full specification and more photographs of this listing at www.yachtworld.com/yacht/1985...
I hope you enjoy this video!

You’re always spot on with your reviews Garnock. This boat is different. I like aspects of her. Heck of a price
Thanks Nickey, I appreciate the kind words
I always enjoy your reviews. The outboard version was very interesting.
Thanks Paul. In today's market, it seems like more and more boats are going outboard powered. It's amazing to me that Huckins had this vision and technology back in the 80s!
It’s very hard to imagine how the “weight & balance” of the boat’s design could allow for transitioning from 4 outboards hanging off the transom to throwing in several tons of diesels and transmissions underneath the salon. I’d be interested to see the hull’s running angle.
On Mike's Yachtworld listing, you can see more photos of the boat out the water.....

This would indeed be a great Great Loop boat or to cruise the Caribbean, and as a liveaboard. Lots of room for a couple. You certainly can't beat the price. Nothing fancy; just practical and functional. Thanks for the great tour.
Thanks for watching. I love the fact this one can cruise so many different areas, and at a fantastic price point. I'd be surprised if this stays on the market long.
That is a nice boat for a great ptrice,
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 😎
What a great boat with so many options! I could easily live aboard this one. Love the interior colors. The blue accented counter tops in the heads is very Retro-Cool! Won't last long at this price! ✌️🏳️🌈✌️
I loved the nautical theme throughout. Any time I'm on a boat, I want to feel like I'm on a boat or on vacation. Some of the modern yachts I've been on feels more like a high-end apartment than a boat.
@@GarnockReviews I agree!! There is a feel of comfort in these older boats that some new ones just don't have.
Always enjoy your videos. Give all the information needed. Looking to do the Loop, so always appreciate noting the air height.
Thanks John. I appreciate the support. I'm working on finishing up a video for another trawler capable of doing the loop. It will be live probably next week some time 😉
You do a great job selling boats
Thanks Darren 🤠
Wow Love the Lay out of That Classic
I do too, great for extended time onboard 😎
Thank You Garnock,
Your videos are always spot on ! I love the simplicity and the price point. This allows someone like myself to actually consider a 50 foot boat when I was eyeing up the Mainship 39.
I’m curious if the dinghy comes with a motor ?
Dinghy size ? Finally is the dinghy hoist working properly ? No leaks or squeaks or funny smells ?
Thanxs !
Robert 😊

This shows the tender in use, and with a small outboard on it as well 😎
Oh and no smells when I was onboard of fuel, mold, dampness etc. Very much a cared for example.
Nice boat, and nice review. I wonder what was in the engine compartment space before they put the diesels in.
That's actually a good question 🤔 The engines are physically large, that I bet there was a ton of space down there when it was outboard powered.
Nice😊
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it 😉
Correct me if I’m wrong but the engines look kind of crammed in that area and perhaps maintenance would be challenging ?
The engines are physically bigger than I was expecting. However, the fact you can remove all the floor boards for bigger maintenance jobs, I think you would be fine. If you didn't have that access, I'd be concerned for sure
You seem to have a lot of older Huchins on your channel. I must say that they look quite well built and very much seaworthy.
They have been building boats since 1928, and still building boats today. They are very well designed, strong, and fast offshore boats for both cruising and fishing. This one in my opinion is excellent value for money at only $115k. That's typically center console money these days, not 900hp diesel cruising 😎
Love these reviews... BUT (hahaha) have you done one on a 1981 50ft Ocean Alexander MK1. love to see it if you have🙂
I actually just filmed a 1994 Ocean Alexander 423 Classico. Twin naturally aspirated Caterpillar 3208 210 hp. That one should be on the channel next week.
@@GarnockReviews look forward to watching..
This boat is in nice condition for it's age and seems good value. What do you think it's range would be?
I found a similar size Huckins that claimed 250 miles at 20 knots, and over 500 miles at 12 knots. If fuel range is important, I'd recommend hooking flow meters when doing a sea trial for the most accurate results.
Hi nice lovebird or holiday home
How much does it cost to keep moorings for the year
Tony from UK
The marina this one is stored at shows on the website $700 + tax per month
Just curious whats the headroom internally on this boat?
I'm around 6ft 2 and had no issues anywhere, including the lower cabins.
It's a great deal, but only 2 cabins wouldn't work for me.
Hey Cliff. I'm conflicted on the 2 cabins vs 3. I get that 3 cabins might work better for families, but the 2 larger cabins seem to make better use of the space.
I really enjoy your videos, but hoping to make a suggestion. The audio has a strange popping sound that's hard to deal with when using earbuds. Very distracting.
I love the constructive feedback. I'm not actually sure what's causing the popping noise. Do you always hear it when you play back the same video? Do you hear it on other videos including other channels? I'd love to help but not 100% sure how to fix this.
@@GarnockReviews I hear it on several of your videos, with a couple different sets of earbuds. Not an issue on other channels. It's almost like I can hear the "cut" editing of your voice over.
Next time I make a new video, I will mess with Adobe and see if they have something to clean up any background noise or distortions in the audio etc. I really appreciate the feedback.
Live aboard
Tony 😂
🤣
Plenty of miles in her
Who likes this better than a searay?
At this price point, Sea Ray and Carver will be a good comparison. Personally, I'd rather take this Huckins offshore of the 3.
Your lighting needs work, The chain locker was just black when you said look how deep it goes, and several other items you mentioned I couldn't even see them on my computer screen! Just black
I agree, this one didn't come out as well as I hoped. The downside of that undercover storage is at times you get poor lighting. I've got a dive light now mounted to the GoPro so hopefully in future videos it won't be as bad 😉
Bayer be aware. Baying 40 years old boat is throwing money on endless maintenance.
Hello it's most expansive for that 😂It's old, lot's of money just for leaving actually, i suppose a double
So hypothetically speaking, if you were to make an offer, what do you think she is worth 🤔
Airex core? Yikes
Hard to spend a hundred grand on this, looks more like a project boat for 10 to 15k.
I'd love to know where you can pick up a 50ft yacht, with twin replacement 450hp diesels, bow thruster, air con, and more for $10k 😱
@@GarnockReviewswould you personally take this out on the water as it is - I wouldn’t.
I'm always going to recommend a professional sea trial, engine inspection, and survey for any boat of significant value. However, at face value, I didn't see anything structurally or mechanically that would make me concerned about heading on out this weekend 😎
