I'd like to see how you got home! A recap of your entire trip would be great as others have mentioned. UCF guy huh? I'm in Edgewater, just south of Daytona. Love the series, don't want to see it end....
Awesome video Eric! At the end of the series, do an explanation of the trip, what you think you did right, what you think you did wrong, what did you like/dislike, etc.... That'll be a great addition to the already excelente video story!
Dude you're so lucky they had that wheel bearing!! Funny thing is first thing I replaced on my bike when I first bought my XR650L was a rear wheel bearing. The thing was really wobbly just like yours was but it was also making them really bad screeching noise. By the way I'm having a great time following you along on this trail you do a great job filming 👍
Not sure how I let this get past me! Glad to see this update. Hope you have the time to carry us to the coast soon! I have enjoyed watching your progress across the country. Thanks for sharing!
In choosing my next purchase, availability of parts is key and this vid reaffirmed that a bike with parts readily available is very important. Looking very seriously at the 650L. Thanks for sharing!
Yeah great message here thanks for sharing this.. wheel bearings are simple but I suggest that every time you have your rear wheel off .. reassemble with a great deal of water proof grease.. pack in as much as you can.. works great for me.. Robert jr NJ-88 here xr650l owner
Just subscribed yesterday and noticed lots of comments wondering when you'd post this video. Glad to see it up! Hope you've been doing well. I'm in Utah and considering an XR650L so these videos have been helpful and entertaining.
This is why the Honda XR is a such a great choice! Try that with a BMW or KTM. I broke down on the TAT in Oregon and within hours a guy showed up with one and offered his clutch to get me back on the road FOR FREE. Long live the mighty XR650L.
Wow!! What an amazing trip so far... i am judt about done with watching all of your videos. Found you through the alaska trip video. Please tell me which gopro you are using? The footage from the helmet gopro looks amazing. And so smooth... Thanks, Gabriel
@@DaddyEric222 thanks! I’m running those on my ‘06 XT225. How was the trip man? Looked like a good time! I also watched the series with your and your bro awhile back. Probably pretty tiring! Was the seat comfortable?
@@yoda4runner137 I had the Gel seat on the V-strom, it was a little better than the stock seat. The XR had a seat concepts low seat installed. Definitely a great seat for a good value! The trip was awesome! And I'm very glad I have all the footage to watch and reminisce! Van life is up next
@@DaddyEric222 You do a great job with recording and editing. The drone footage is awesome. You should make a Van Life Build Series. I’d for sure check it out!
Eric!? Did you get vids going down that thin ridge line? I was wondering if you would take it. Not sure if you had a choice, but you start down and then...pavement! What happened? Or is that its own video?😎
@@DaddyEric222 if you do a longer format, please cut out all the music. Most riders want to hear the bike, and all of us are interested in what you have to say. I had to watch most of your trip with the volume off & cc on. Your videography is superb!
Thanks for the video Eric!! I also have an XR650L!! They sure are a lot of fun! I drove mine from Phoenix Arizona through Mexico down to the state of Michoacan and back. It was about 3,000 miles round trip. I hope to do it again soon. I have a question for you. How many miles did your bike have on it when you had to replace the bearing? Thank you my friend!!!
For what is supposed to be a reliable bike, you have a lot of problems. The engine was making knocking sounds in the previous video, the wheel wants to come off in this one. Hmm...

Glad to see you back up and running so to speak. Been looking forward to the last few legs of your trip. Welcome back.

You got lucky having a shop nearby with the part. On these types of trips you need a bit of luck on your side!
Great video! Thanks for sharing!!!

Is the bearing to be confused with the cush gasket, or whatever its called? Yet to watch this, one. Cant wait.
It was a wheel bearing. You can get them at any bearing place.
The one thing about the 650L... having been around since 93' any Honda shop will usually have parts on the shelf. Welcome to Oregon

Great job Eric. You are doing great. 👍🏻
Great work brother. I've been binge watching your videos lol. I look forward to seeing your next adventure!
Thanks for bingeing my videos! Oregon is uploaded
Eric, are you going to show the video of you going to the west coast? I have really enjoyed watching these.
Uploaded Oregon today! Enjoy
Thank you Eric. What a good series of video you produced. Really enjoyed it.
looking forward to the rest. Great series, well done

I had a GoPro hero 8 for this trip! Plus I did some color correcting in post production. Thanks for watching!!
So awesome!!!
Why such big knobby tires on the rear? Shouldn't it be the same at the front semi knobby? I would think that messed up that bearing. 😊
Same tires on front a rear. 50/50 enduro tires.
Which TAT route did you use. I've been trying to find one that routes through Idaho. Mind sharing your resource? Awesome videos btw!
I used Sams trans American trail!
Are you going to be updating us? Did you make it to Port Orford?
Yes I did! Uploaded Oregon today
Oregon video coming soon?
It's up today!
Awesome series. Deserves much more views. What tires are you running? Shinko 244?
Yes they are!

That was near the end, the road was just over that last pass. I'm thinking of doing a longer format version of this series if there is interest.

nice! keep going
What was the engine noise you kept hearing?
A unhappy engine. But a running (and still running today) Honda beast.
I bet you have answered this... ut why the 650l?
It is what I had. But basically, reliable, lightweight(ish), cheap, simple. And it worked perfectly for this kind of trip!
Is this the final episode for this trip?
Nope, Oregon is now uploaded. I will also post another showing my gear
Omg that happened to me in Norway on my V Strom
Nice

Well I ran it out of oil. So that didn't help the engine. And 20k miles for rear bearings is somewhat normal I now understand.
Important detail. I didn't know the bike is on 20k. It is perfectly normal indeed.
Great bike choice. Long live the mighty xr650.
