To add to Chapter 13-4 boss, Taihou spawns with a Command ship and a Repair ship as well. You'll need to knock out the repair ship behind her, cause that dammed thing heals. The Command ship spawns annoying planes along with the Taihou boss.....
Something I've noticed that due to the carrier rework, bringing two carriers doesn't end up well. This is due to while carriers are unspotted, they can't be targeted by battleships, meaning the battleship you bring is taking all the damage most of the time.
Dude thank you so much for this comment ! Ive been grinding this level for a while and I was doing fine on mobs but my boss fleet flagship (Marco Polo) would get shredded so quick. I had two CVs to counter Taihou's planes but I switched out a CV for Littorio and I finally cleared it for the first time.
On W13 it's not the Taihou that's the problem, it's the carrier command flagships and her healing support. You have two enemy command carriers coming one after another and it's them that destroy your fleet by increasingly buffing the enemy; the longer you wait, the worse it gets. You need to focus on the healer first and then sink both carriers ASAP, hence why you need heavy firepower and sniper BBs are the best in this case. Taihou by herself is whatever and will die quickly from AP shelling afterwards. Another thing to note is you'll be fighting enemies above the max level, which means you won't benefit from the level difference and will take more damage. You also fight with seven mob fleets before Taihou appears, which means more damage overall; if your fleet can't tank or outheal that damage, you're in trouble.
Just cleared 12-1 for the first time. Crazy easy with the newer ships. Aquila just owns the mob fleets and Ark Royal retro took out the boss in first wave of attack.
I'm planning on using Ark Royal because I have the torp slot filled with a Wyvern so it's a fighter, a torp plane, a tasty dessert, and a floor polish.
I have been doing experiments ricently how well would the new Italian ships do in harder maps and i found out, that a Shinano, Veneto, Aquila main fleet works really well as a boos fleet. I use Shinano as the flagship bcs of her barrage, while i can use Veneto on the sides and still utilize her her to its ful extent since her barrage is not aimed. I am still thinking of what to use in vanguard, but if i want to use Veneto to its fullest i would need one italien Vanguard, but i would need to invest more into Zara :/ I was using this fleet with a Baltimore, Helena, Sandy vanguard and even tho baltimore was below lvl 100 it could stay alive on chapter 12-3 on first clear. Kind of event heavy build, but seems really effective, wonder ho it will work on chapter 13.
Great guide and will be helpful once I get that far ^_^. I'm still on world 9 since I haven't bothered to get further as of yet as there is enough to do with events and farming. I have a question about farming fleets. You've made videos about them specifying the cheapest ships to use. Could you maybe do a video on the best equipment for them. I'm leveling them up at the moment, but I'm not too sure what gear to equip them with since there are so many exceptions to the normal equipment to use for a type of ship.
Still at chapter 7 and having ships at lvl 120 and gear about lvl 10-8, Imma approuch this game overly cautious style xD, thanks for the guidelines tho! I'll keep em in mind
Something to add on about world 10 is that your battleships will constantly be on fire. Recommended to bring fire extinguisher
