Excellent tutorial, got a stone saw same as yours wouldn't start. Got new filters and gaskets and now working. Thank you. Got a problem with idle tho won't tick over. Done adjustment on carb.
I got a troy bilt 4 cycle cultivator for free. I replaced the carb for 11 dollars. The kit was 17 dollars. The trans was completely rusted up. after some work, it runs great. They sell new for around 300 dollars. I have been working on small engines for 60 years. I like your vids.
Hi Mick, have just watched your video and prepped the machine for parts coming from ghs. When I took the carb out I discovered it was a tillotson not a walbro. Now if you follow the ghs trail they advise a walbro kit, but they do, do tillotson kit. I suspect your carb is a tillotson but you seem to have been able to fit a walbro kit. Also my carb had a round sponge gasket on the diaphragm lid and a paper gasket between carb intake and plastic air intake. Great video though has helped a lot.
Well I am back on this video. After 1 year another round of maintenance. Here is a lesson learnt for anyone working on a DPC6400/6410. When ordering gasket kits, I have come across different kits who supply different diaphrams. One of the diaphrams has the small metal pin which slots into the rocker arm for the fuel cut-off valve(see video). Other kits, dont have the pin, just a small metal head which can only rest on the rocker arm. This version just doesn't work. The other hard earned lesson is that all this time, I have been replacing gaskets and cleaning the carb. Few years back after servicing the cutter, it was still not running well. Well there are two small o-rings on the two adjust screws on the side of the carb. If you take these out, mine were brittle and had disintegrated. They were leaking air into the carb. Changed those and viola, good to go. Besides the faff of trying to get the carb out and in with stupid fuel connection, it is a very robust machine which has taken many years of abuse and still going strong.
Yes.. and its knowing what they have done is the problem.. still shes a runner.. had a look at your wish list and will order something very soon.. hope your good my friend
How's she goin'? Nice fix. Cards often make a tool act like it's done, but a little tune up and cleaning and this is what you end up with!! Nicely done!! Take 'er easy!!
Hi kick Friday was a trying day to get my lawn mower started temp almost 7 try noted bad gas it would start and die put in some gas treatment blue smoke after a few try it started to run better the gas sat to long over the winter months gave it a long run it all smoke clear up let it run a bit and ran great after great did the lawn cut I've using the electric lawn mower but next time I'll run the gas mower more this happens when you never run it a lot
Awesome work mate, currently working on a Briggs and Stratton 450e with a carb problem, I’ve cleaned it all through thoroughly and it’s still got a problem, any ideas?
You didn't put washer between carburetor and plastic housing why? I just cleaned up my carburetor and there was washer but anyway I'll have to remove it again and have look if the diaphragm is OK as couldn't start Thanks for that video anyway
Can’t believe I stumbled across this got given the same saw and it won’t run carb kit on its way fingers crossed as I’ve got compression and spark so hoping it’s a carb issue
Hi Mick, I just followed your vid on my own DPC6400 that wouldn't run for more than 2 seconds. it now starts but won't idle, instead it runs really high. if I adjust it its all or nothing, if i reduce the idle or low it cuts out, if I open them up it picks up to the top end. it is all or nothing, no in between.
Have you tried tuning the carb.. set them to 1 and a 1/4 each to get the thing to run.. then try and run it flat out and tune the fast jet.. do it little by little.. find the sweet spot.. once done then tune the idle. Oh and do it with a blade on that helps..
Hi Mick. Love the channel. I have just bought one of these second hand and will do the service myself having watched this, but can you tell me, does the clutch only engage when the revs are up? With this one the disc spins constantly, even at idle so I feel I may have a clutch issue also??? Thanks a lot.
Got given a old one of these a dpc6200 first time iv attempted to do anything on a anything like this. It was running before I was given it it just wouldn’t start so ordered new plug and filters and gave it a good clean out it now runs but dies after a about 10/15 seconds or if I give it any throttle would this mean it needs tuning like you done?
Obviously I mean it ran then sat for a long while then I was given it that didn’t make sence what I said but Thankyou! I’ll look to order one now thanks again! Good video👍🏻
Ordered new gaskets and fitted them seems the diaphragm gasket didn’t seem to fit that bit that it needs to hook onto but changed the others and it starts up again there’s 2 holes in the side for tuning on this model a “L” and a “S” what one do i try and change? Thought best to ask be for I mess about too much thanks.
@@joshuabolton137 ok so what I would do is get the gasket and diaphragm done first before tuning as you will need to do it again once fitted.. s - slow or idle . L fast.. turn the L all the way in and count how many turns and make a note.. I would start with 1 and 1/4 out.. on both then start the saw.. run it at full speed and your looking for where it sounds the best.. when you have found the top speed just back it off a tad.. then try and get the saw to idle. Then turn the screw to find it's tick over point
Depends where there are at the moment. If your not sure screw them in but not too tight. Then unscrew them 2 turns each to start with... Then get the sa running and start with the high side then then the low one screwing them in or out and listing to the engine. You want it running just off the peak on the high side

Hi buddy.. yeah all good here.. the old saw is running sweet..
Try some liquid metal mick in the carb and the cork tap if you poor boiling water over the cork it should go back to it original size

Hey mick can you help me I'm struggling to find the carburettor kit for one of the mikta dpc6410
What carb does it have.. ?
Great vid as you say 2 turns out of high and low screws do you mean 2 full turns

I could be clutch issue or incorrect belt.. could be that the carburettor needs tuning to bring the the revs down
Thanks for the reply and advice
Interesting information. That should get you a few bob.
Ysah should sell well hopefully
Nice job Mick 👌
Ta mate.. hope your good
I had issue with the grey wire. Melted next to the engine. There's some fold clips for the wire if you look
My saw has spark compression but will not fire even if you primer ? Any answers
Sounds like the carb mate
Good job mate on a tricky saw .Lite my fire lol
Lol
Shouldn't there be gasket between carb and housing on inlet side
Looks to be missing plastic cylinder cover which has retainers for HT lead so it isn't burnt on exhaust and directs air flow
