Defensive win shares are the number of wins a team has due to the defensive play of that player as compared to a “replacement level player” (I.e. last man cut pre-season). So, effectively, the Spurs over the course of Duncan’s career won 106 games due to his defense. First is Bill Russell.
@LynREACTED and much respect for actually being reasonable and objective! The fact that you realized that Duncan should move up spots in the all time greatest list shows you actually understand and appreciate the game of basketball! He deserves much more respect and recognition for how great he was but because he wasn’t flashy and so many people perceived his game to be boring they don’t take the time to actually research and understand just how incredible he was. Honestly there are so many reasons and factors to support and justify him being the greatest player in NBA history! You should next watch the video “HERES WHY TIM DUNCAN HAD THE MOST PERFECT CAREER IN NBA HISTORY”.
No one learned how to stop Shaq. He just got old and hadn't taken care of himself as well as he could have. By the time he was 'no longer really Shaq' he had been the most dominant force in the league for 12 years. He just didn't really have good teams around him during the 90's Lakers run and that Magic team, he and Penny were babies playing against all the superstars who had cut their teeth against the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons and Bulls.
@LynREACTED just a minor piece of advice to improve your reaction videos… try to actually listen to the video before you start commenting, asking questions, and pausing the video! You missed so many important points and undeniable facts that truly support Duncan being the GOAT! My advice is just listen first to the entire piece of evidence then pause and make your comment. Honestly it’s very hard to get through the entirety of any of your videos because of how much you talk over them!
I can respect calling MJ the GOAT. I disagree, because he never seemed to make his teammates better. Likewise for Kobe and Wilt. The biggest point in Duncan’s favor is that he made everyone around him better while being a stone-cold killer on the floor.
I miss the big fundamental. Dude made the spurs a title contender every year
