  • The adapters hold cheap prescription lenses in your VR Headset so you don't have to suffer the pain of your glasses being squished into your face.
It's not my design, I'm just excited at how well it works! For the design and a full how-to guide see thingiverse.com/thing:4871493
The adapters are easy to 3D print and use. The lenses are from a really cheap pair of Zenni Model 550021 glasses that cost me $58 CDN including taxes and shipping. I chose a higher refractive index for the lenses to make them thinner, adding $16 to the price.

I always have trouble trying to adjust the rotation at which the glasses need to be inside the adapters..
Is there a trick to help me with this?
What i mean is that i have to rotate the lens in order to see correctly but there's always some room for error, most of the time i can't see very well when focusing on objects that are to the sides so moving my eyes doesnt work very well, i often have to move my entire head for the lens to correct my vision properly

I can't really say what's best for your eyes, but one of the steps in making these inserts is to mark the top centre of the lenses with a sharpie, before removing them from the cheap frames they came in, so that they can be placed in the inserts in the correct orientation. The inserts themselves are shaped so that they'll only fit one way in the occulus, so once you have the lenses correctly in the inserts they should work the way they're intended. It sounds like your situation might be tougher, having to move your head more.

Did you get the lenses with 1.5 or 1.65?

I spent the extra $15 or so to get the higher refractive index, I believe that was 1.65, so that the lenses would be thinner. I'm not sure if that was necessary for my prescription, but it ensured that I could use the thinner version of the mounts.

@@KenLord thinner version of the mounts? Would 1.5 be fine to get, and the correct PD is 65?
How do you like inserts? I haven’t fully tried them yet since I’m about to order the glasses.

@@aWinterDreamer I think they're great. I can't say it's perfect, but it's a lot better than squishing my glasses inside the oculus.
There are two versions of the mounts, one is thicker, to hold thicker lenses. But there's more of a chance that it will touch your face. That's why I went with the higher refractive index, so the lenses would be thinner.

@Ken Lord Nobody has any obligation to go to court. In particular, women who need abortions have the legal right to get abortions, and doctors have the right to give abortions, and they have the right to force government to pay for them. No matter what antiabortion laws any states pass. Because government did nothing to stop THEM (the pregnant women, the doctors) being born, being forced into the world without their consent. Therefore, women getting abortions don't have to obey those illegal laws.

alrighty, took me awhile to notice this bizarrely placed comment ... utterly irrelevant to this video. It's even more bizarre considering we seem to be on the same side of the abortion debate. Here in Canada abortion is protected by our Charter Right to bodily autonomy. End of story.
In the US, sure, you can disobey illegal laws. But those laws won't be deemed to be illegal without tremendous court battles, at massive expense, and in places like Texas, you'll be setting aside your life and doing that battle from prison.
