Exactly. And this is against the NFC North, 3 teams that have made other experienced QBs look stupid. Caleb is one of 2 QBs to not throw an INT against Detroit, he's the *only* QB to throw 3 TDs against the Lions.
I have been a harsh critic of Caleb Williams. However, he has shown considerable improvement and growth since the new OC took over. I believe the Bears may have a winner at QB. Now we need a couple of Big physical offensive linemen and a power running back. And a few more athletes on the defensive side of the football and we will be able to go toe to toe with any foe anywhere
I have zero worry about him as the qb for the future he been so impressive the past 3 weeks sure he makes mistakes but he’ll fix it as time goes on just got to hope they get the right coach which I’m worried about
Caleb still is a newbee when it comes to not taking sacks. Needs to get better on that, but for his rookie season, what is not to like? And he is also hampered by WRs dropping passes, stupid penalties, not having a running game, dumb calls by the refs etc. Considering all that he is doing great.
Caleb is the man! It's the HC's job to call timeout, not the rookie QB who was just smashed to the ground. Can someone tell me why went for two on that second TD? We should have been kicking a FG for the win there.
We have our QB. Can’t say I’ve ever been able to say that in my life. I also believe we will have the best QB in the division next year. Coaches next year will be vital so here’s to hoping That said, he could have called the TO there but Flus should have seeking as that Caleb is a rookie. He also took way too long to snap it and had DJ open quick on the sideline. All learning experience though
Roschon Johnson out with a concussion. Where are the other RBs on this team ? Swift is not an every down RB. You think Kahlil Herbert couldn't have helped this team Poles ?
Yeah what was with that ... Why didn't he get any touches? Where is Tyler Scott? We could use some of that speed once in a while. Why is Borom on the team? I'm still supporting Poles but he needs to make changes too
Flus is not good. BUT Caleb deserves some blame... They were saving the timeout for FG range, the offense needs to do better in that situation. Also, he's had multiple bad throws, multiple dropped INTS, and consistently slow starts to games. We can't play hero ball all game. How about hitting DJ Moore for a nice easy pass? How about staying on the field longer than Shaboozy in the first half? How about that defense stopping the Lions multiple times in the redzone, only for the offense to do nothing again. The Lions had many backups in, (as did the bears) but there was a lack of urgency from the offense there in that situation, and there was a lack of urgency from the offense to start the game.
THIS BEARS team, despite the improvements needed on the O and D lines and despite a HC that is clueless in game management STILL should have beaten EACH of the NFC North teams. Packers, Vikings and Lions all were let off the hook by Eberflus. Good news is these games demonstrate the Bears are on the cusp of winning, just need some help in the trenches and a genuine head coach.
Caleb still needs to work on his accuracy, his footwork gets messy at times BUT that's something he can correct. What can't be taught is him looking great late in games consistently, him putting his team on his back and him looking like it's all starting to come together. The next head coach just has to not mess it up and he will have the most important position in the league gift wrapped for him
@@Beardownsports Absolutely not but you can see him progressing and him becoming one of those QBs the other teams worry about giving the ball back to him up less than 1 score with 2 minutes left. Caleb has everything that was advertised. He should have multiple 4 quarter comebacks if not for these unprecedented losses.
Just something interesting that I noticed: Flus said they had a play in for a play looking for a medium gain to then call a TO for a chance at a FG. Caleb then said in his presser that he changed the play for a shot at the end zone and seemingly forgot he had a TO in his pocket. Definitely a learning opportunity in a lost season
Caleb didn't forget we had a TO, nobody was set at the line until 9 seconds left. The play he changed was the play before, a run off the hip of Larry Borom. Coach needed to call TO with 33 seconds left. No other option.
If you go back and watch CW press conferences he says he changed the final play. Flus wanted a pass to the sideline and call timeout and At 12/13 seconds CW didn't care about it. He chose to ignore Flus and throw it to Rome. He sticks by his decision. It's all on Caleb.
You understood this wrong. The play was supposed to be a run off of Larry Borom's hip. (The play before) Caleb called it and Larry didn't understand the go. Once that died, the coach needed to call the timeout.
@Beardownsports with all due respect I went back and listened to the press conferences again. I got it right. Caleb says he changed the last play with 12/13 seconds left. The reporters even grill him about it and he said that he stands by his decision to change the play and throw it to Rome. CW says he could have called time out or not like it didn't matter to him. "I could have called a time out, the guys are on the field, you take a shot and you live with it" direct quote. In Flus' press conferences he said the final play was for CW to throw a pass to the sideline and call timeout. That didn't happen because Caleb changed the play and threw it to Rome.
Thanks for the credit Adam. One thing I’d like everyone to understand, what we saw Caleb do wasn’t against the Browns at Soldier Field or the Jags in a preseason game. We watched Caleb come back against the best team in the NFL in their house on primetime.
Amen!! We need to colab again soon Always appreciate your takes. You and I saw exactly eye to eye on this one so I'll always find a reason to throw in someone with a like mind
It’s harsh to say is it on caleb a he’s a rookie, so these things are just out there for him to learn from and be a situational genius for us in a year or two or three. But it’s partially the players faults as well as flus, jenkins hands to the face penalty, caleb for missing more wide open for a possible td, definite first down, kmet for making contact with the lions players. Lots of penalties and lots of player mistakes, but this is what the HC is there for ultimately, to get three through these situations in the end
@Oxybrodone-v6f at this point I'm starting to think that Fluse will be back next year. I think maybe Ryan Poles is fine with they've got an OC to work with and develop Caleb period because the long game is more important. And the circle of firing and hiring coaches has got to end at some point
I feel like it’s 60% coaching and 40% of the players you gotta have the team all the way in including the coaches mentally and physically and I just don’t think that they’re mentally there so that their lack of physicalness is delayed that’s why the first half was just nothing no drives worth of anything and the second was actually something because they actually felt like they had to prove something when they should’ve felt that way in the beginning There’s just no enthusiasm coming out of probably Eberflus and that’s why we are sitting here very distraught.
Flus should be situationally aware of every possibility. He's not. The moment gets too big for him all the time. Maybe he can learn, but it's costing this team in the process
In the 2nd half he was that. Only problem there is 2 halves in a football game. OC Brown needs to react much sooner in a game time situation. They have those Microsoft tablets & he can write over those Defensive formations on the fly even if he's up in the booth ! OC Brown has been a great improvement but he needs on effective 1st 15 plays with the ball coming out of CW's hand in less than 3 seconds every pass play.
Blame Caleb 100%. Open your eyes. No reason to call timeout with 32 seconds. A decent qb would get off at least 1 play before needing a timeout. You're 100% wrong on this one adam.
Appreciate your opinion, but no. A good Head Coach calls that timeout and gives options to the team. It's a wasted timeout otherwise. Plenty of time to kick a FG, plenty of time for 3 plays using the sideline
I’m a Packer fan. I am not looking to facing Caleb Williams for the next decade. It would have been nice if the Bears could have helped us out against the Lions.
Cairo Santo is like Rocky VI. Everyone hated Rocky V so bad that a "meh" sequel was tolerable. We were just so jazzed about getting rid of "Double Doink" that a consistent kicker with short range would serve for a while. I'm hoping that we are not thankful that the next coach is simply "Not Eberflus" because being thankful for "Not Nagy" has been a nightmare.
@Adam Yes and No...... Yes in that he HAS to understand I do not care if all 5 D Linemen come off unblocked You HAVE to throw the ball away... HAVE TO. No it is not his fault at all once the sack happens you take the timeout you huddle up and you pick your best pass route and go execute it. That loss as ALL the losses has been on FORMER HC Fluess who coaches not to loose when ALL the great coaches coach to win.
It’s easy to say if we played better we wouldn’t be in that position, but it shows even with a bad first half, he doesn’t fold and give up, he keeps fighting. If he gives up he’s a quitter and if he doesn’t then he “should’ve played better” like these caleb haters always find something to hate about
I have a question Adam. Could Caleb have called time out in that situation? Also once again Caleb looked like a great QB in the making. I'm very happy we have him as our QB. I'm 50 yrs old and a life long bears fan and Caleb is the best QB the bears have had in my lifetime. Thanks for sharing this video 👍
Anyone can call a timeout, but that's not what he was coached to do. They took that out of his hands. He would have gone against his coaching. This is on a head coach to understand the situation and not have it be too big
Caleb is a rookie and Bears are not in the game without him. The loss is squarely on HC Matt EverFraud. HC EverFraud has cost Bears at least 10 games from last season till now. He must be fired to end the trauma he has inflicted on Caleb his teammates and fans. Caleb Williams is that dude.
If any analyst at this point is blaming CW, their credibility needs to be in serious consideration. The lack of discipline, poor game time management, all are fixable, and all are coaching issues.
Lost in all the time management issue. Eberflus once again goes for 2 instead of 1 early. If they had kicked that EP then they only need a FG to win at this point. Their strategy is much different in the final minute if they need a FG to win instead of TD.
It's so hard to judge. The line lets him down constantly, but he also holds the ball too long, and he still misses some easy throws with guys that are pretty open. I like him a lot. I'm not being negative and he still has a lot of time and room to grow. Just saying sometimes he's still making mistakes. But give him a couple studs on that line and a better coach, and someone else to get consistent qb pressure on defense, and this is a playoff team.
Adam hear me out. Next mock draft we mix it up and draft jeanty first round, get de/dt first second round pick and OT or interior oline with second second round pick. And in FA we get Trey smith, garret boles and Hassan reddick
I cannot, in good consciousness, take Ashton Jeanty. He's an average NFL running back that's being over-hyped. Look at how he did against my UNLV Rebels. When he faces good defenses, he is very average. If he wasn't in the Mountain West, say he played in the SEC and did what he's done, I'd be all about him
@ I don’t know if I would say average I mean he put up real good numbers against Oregon. RBs aren’t putting up 100+ yards every single game, even the great ones. He hasn’t had a single game under 100. I mean it’s a potential mock draft, could be a sort of 1-2 punch just like the lions have? And if we have Ben Johnson who knows how he will use that
@@jacknigro8217 Average. At best. Oregon isn't stopping the run. UNLV is the closest to a Power 4 defense and they held him to less than 4 per carry. I'm not impressed at all. If he did this in the SEC, I'd be all on it, but there's a reason he's a Heisman "hopeful"
@jacknigro8217 if they make the playoffs. They've got to go through UNLV in the MW Championship game that Boise State got plenty of helps from the refs in. (In their first meeting BSU 29-UNLV24 first match) No cake walk into the playoffs for them
Caleb’s got enough haters to fill an entire stadium and the parking lot even before he was drafted. So people blaming this loss on him is not surprising at all.
It’s not coincidence or bad luck that Eberflus is 5-19 in one score games which is the worst of all time. He’s not getting another HC opportunity after his eventual firing.
Caleb is getting better but missed an easy TD to Moore that would have won the game. Flus obviously needs to go but the players are screwing up too. Hello Cole Kmet.
Tell me what you think Adam. GM Poles fired Eberflus at the end of last year. Then grows some major gonads & hires Jim Harbaugh a former Bear QB who just Won a National College Championship ! Do you think the Bears would be 4 - 8 ? 🤔 Oh I forgot he doesn't have Trace Amrstrong as his Agent. 😢
Any fan blaming rookie QB don't know football! Game situations, HC responsibility or clock management. Adam I wouldn't nave a podcast because ignorance would be blocked or comments would be turned off! Flus decisions lost the NFC North last year & bears suffered Flus mistakes & lack of HC skills again this year! GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤
There are 2 things Caleb COULD HAVE done better. He overthrew Moore(?) on a short crossing route (a gimme) with lots of open grass ahead, which some were saying was a possible TD, late in the game. Let's not forget that a 51% completion percentage is not exactly Superman calibre. And HE could have called the timeout when he saw everyone taking 20+ seconds to get back to the line of scrimmage........deference to the coach's discretion be damned!!!! I still think he is a great QB and I will still even cut him some slack because he is a rookie. He is our future. But is he "0% blameless"? Nuh-uh.
You can blame Caleb all you want. That’s BS. He is a ROOKIE. He was the ONLY REASON we had a chance in that game. Self inflicted penalties (yes along with sacks) are killing this team. Kmet TWICE.
And he’s really ruining Caleb’s 4th quarter clutch heroics this is like 5 games now this year 3 times in a row against divisional opponents at that imagine the perspective if Caleb wins these games fire eberflus or Keenan might slap the L out him
100% coach's fault. Flus should have called the time out. You don't leave the play call in that situation in the hands of your rookie doing something no huddle. Flus failed caleb in every loss this season.
it wasn't 3rd and 6, it was 3rd and 26. you're not getting the first down, and you're definitely not taking that risk. Let's not forget William's could take another sack, turnover, not get the ball close enough or incomplete pass.
this is proof that the bears screwed up bringing Eberflus back,.now I am starting to question Poles ability to secure talent. Poles contract is up 2025 and I dont see a reason to bring him back
Caleb sucks,he can't hit the broad side of a barn. I'm tired of hearing how great he is when it seems like most of his throws are clearly off.Caleb took the sack that's not coaching that's Bustin Fields 2.0.Your just another hype train yardage junkie. No I don't think the players respect him as much as you think. The guy paints his nails ,wears a red dress , carries a hand bag no I don't believe they respect that. They should have had a QB competition with Bagent before just giving baby Caleb the starting job period . 25.5 million signing bonus and 1 game played? The only ones who got played are the Chicago Bears.
I don't remember the last time a rookie left the league in accuracy for two weeks straight during his rookie year. Rookies are notoriously immaculate. They have to acclimate to the league. Caleb is a phenomenal QB, but some of our fanbase expect him to be 30/30. He has a killer edge and drives us down the field.
Caleb is a Top 5 QB Now!!! That said, Rookie. Holds onto 🏈 too long, has some anxiety which creates overthrows and Presnap issues. That's Coaching, Thomas Brown or whomever needs time to build reps.

The lack of discipline, poor game time management, all are fixable, and all are coaching issues.
a player should have called time out...the ultimate coaching burn if keenan allen had done that...
Would have been awesome if that happened. Keenan voiced for the locker room that everyone is feeling this loss hard!
Lost in all the time management issue. Eberflus once again goes for 2 instead of 1 early. If they had kicked that EP then they only need a FG to win at this point. Their strategy is much different in the final minute if they need a FG to win instead of TD.
In your mock draft tomorrow, is it possible to draft a new HC?
Yes, 100%
Yes every loss this season is because of him. We need someone smarter like bagent playing qb
You're functionally clueless.
I wish the rest of the league valued Bagent this way. We could trade him for a high draft pick and unload a player before his contract ends next year
@ yeah and hopefully draft Jaxson Dart
It's so hard to judge. The line lets him down constantly, but he also holds the ball too long, and he still misses some easy throws with guys that are pretty open. I like him a lot. I'm not being negative and he still has a lot of time and room to grow. Just saying sometimes he's still making mistakes. But give him a couple studs on that line and a better coach, and someone else to get consistent qb pressure on defense, and this is a playoff team.
Should've been a playoff team, but add those ingredients and this may be a special team that starts to dominate
Already had more yards than Justin has ever passed for
Adam hear me out.
@ I guess we see how he does against a power for team in the playoffs 🤷
@jacknigro8217 if they make the playoffs.
They've got to go through UNLV in the MW Championship game that Boise State got plenty of helps from the refs in. (In their first meeting BSU 29-UNLV24 first match)
No cake walk into the playoffs for them
it was both there faults but hes a rookie
Eberflus wants too save those time outs for his next job IF he gets one
🤣🤣
Caleb’s got enough haters to fill an entire stadium and the parking lot even before he was drafted. So people blaming this loss on him is not surprising at all.
That's a great point.
They're gonna find a reason to hate when things go south. Won't take much
Can teh bear's defense cover a TE from the other team? The defense is being torched by TE routes and it looks like no one is covering them.
Tampa 2 at this finest
🐻⬇️
It’s not coincidence or bad luck that Eberflus is 5-19 in one score games which is the worst of all time. He’s not getting another HC opportunity after his eventual firing.
Caleb is getting better but missed an easy TD to Moore that would have won the game. Flus obviously needs to go but the players are screwing up too. Hello Cole Kmet.
The same penalty twice by Kmet was rough.
No teams players are going to be "perfect" but coaches should not negatively affect the outcome
Since Rams game. CW 12 tds - 1int.
🔥🔥🔥
As I was watching this breaking news Hebrews is gone
Any fan blaming rookie QB don't know football! Game situations, HC responsibility or clock management. Adam I wouldn't nave a podcast because ignorance would be blocked or comments would be turned off! Flus decisions lost the NFC North last year & bears suffered Flus mistakes & lack of HC skills again this year! GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤
I don't blame Caleb, I'm addressing those who are.
Appreciate you tuning in as always 🐻⬇️
@Beardownsports that comment wasn't aimed @ you Adam just responding to what you reported!
Nuh-uh.
You can a TO @ :33 after getting sacked out of FG range there's only one thing that happens next, you get sacked again
You can blame Caleb all you want. That’s BS. He is a ROOKIE. He was the ONLY REASON we had a chance in that game. Self inflicted penalties (yes along with sacks) are killing this team. Kmet TWICE.
100% with you
A better coach would have had these situations better handled as well
Should’ve called a timeout with 15 seconds left throw a 10 yard pass get in field goal range tie it , the coach needs to be fired
I was all for not focusing on Flus, but the challenge was another… reminder and then holy what????? Dude, horrible
Yeah, I was the same way
I even said I wasn't gonna focus on the Flus... And then 🙄
And he’s really ruining Caleb’s 4th quarter clutch heroics this is like 5 games now this year 3 times in a row against divisional opponents at that imagine the perspective if Caleb wins these games fire eberflus or Keenan might slap the L out him
100% coach's fault. Flus should have called the time out. You don't leave the play call in that situation in the hands of your rookie doing something no huddle. Flus failed caleb in every loss this season.
💯
it wasn't 3rd and 6, it was 3rd and 26. you're not getting the first down, and you're definitely not taking that risk. Let's not forget William's could take another sack, turnover, not get the ball close enough or incomplete pass.
No excuse to not take the timeout
3rd & 26, and only needed 15 for a FG. We gained 26 multiple times in two consecutive downs
this is proof that the bears screwed up bringing Eberflus back,.now I am starting to question Poles ability to secure talent. Poles contract is up 2025 and I dont see a reason to bring him back
Destiny is what we are witnessing, unfortunately with review mirror.
Caleb did nothing in the first half he could have simply thrown a 10 yard pass and call the time out
I really really believe he got a call from upstairs to tank the game to be honest no one is that stupid
Hard to believe he can do this over & over
Caleb 51 percent nah that’s ok who cares he’s just a rookie
290 yds in the second half ok but where was all this offence in the first half? maybe the rah rah half time speech should be given pregame
Yeah, they need to figure it out earlier.
You keep trying to stuff Caleb down our throat we don’t believe you we watched the game bro
Caleb is a Top 5 QB Now!!! That said, Rookie. Holds onto 🏈 too long, has some anxiety which creates overthrows and Presnap issues. That's Coaching, Thomas Brown or whomever needs time to build reps.
💯
is it me or is tyrique stevensen a liability out there
He has been this year, but remember he caused the fumble
He is officially gone I don't care about how long it took just that it is done!!!!!
And now, coaches will know we're openly looking to next year and Ben Johnson just got an up close look at our talent
@@Beardownsports that & we give Thomas brown the keys to the car to see if he has what it takes as well
@bryangilmore5477 Yeah, this is the best way for an audition. I just hope for the best now
@Beardownsports same here I really hope whoever it is he's the right fit for the bears
