Yeah, thinking exactly the same as soon as LGR said 'mini-fridge". I immedaitely thought, do you actually mean peltier cooler and a fan? Ahh - 2 mins in "one of those crappy fridges that's barely able to cool anything... " Glad he qualified that.
I never comment, on anything -- but your videos have brought me so much entertainment and comfort over the years that, especially in current circumstances, it felt important to share that sentiment. We're all rooting for you and I hope engagement stays up. Here's some contribution on that front.
Definitely all for nostalgia... I get the feeling that you had so much more enjoyment doing this blerb since it allowed you to do something "normal" for a bit.... thanks for sharing!
Hope the hurricane recovery is going well. I once hosted a D&D campaign where my players had item bags. We exchanged makeshift coins, etc while playing. I used doll house coke cans for health potions until I made my own epoxy potions. Miniature cans of beans were rations too. You are giving "Pepsi cola in a Coca-cola glass. I don't give a damn." vibes and I am here for it.
I love that Coca-Cola is cool enough to allow their branding to be used on stuff like this, especially with the attention to detail here. This thing is a really nice piece of nostalgia and I may or may not have been looking to see where I can buy one.
They're not just letting anyone use the Coke branding from the kindness of their cold multi-billion dollar company's heart. I'm sure they paid quite a bit to use it.
@@charliemartin-k7m Oh, you're wrong - he really like pinball tables, incandescent light bulbs and, above all, heat-pumps. And, it'd only be half a channel if he only talked about things he likes.
Nah, what's accurate is that these machines wouldn't even attempt to take in a dollar bill while the "Exact Change Only" light was illuminated, which it clearly is on this miniature.
Yeah, man, I always loved this design, growing up - it’s basic, gets the point across, and you can notice it from ways-away. When I was a kid, I recall the cans always being 50 cents, and the bottles being a dollar. :)
Ooo, I was tickled by the detail of the design of the dollar bills. In 1996 they redesigned them to have a larger portrait. But these have the design you'd be using in arcades up to the mid-90s.
I would totally get one of these if they did one that looked like the Half-Life "enjoy" vending machines - blurry, low-res textures and all - though I suppose you could just replace the stickers, actually.
I would argue that, with the ability to turn it off and retain fun functionality, this is exactly the type of thing that these coolers are made for. You have a working tiny vending machine. The fact that you can turn it on and actually keep something cool on a random occasion is just an added gimmicky bonus that you know would have had a million comments of "Be a lot cooler if it actually cooled something" if it wasnt offered
The non-working bill acceptor is on purpose. In all my years on this earth I have never encountered a coke machine like this that did anything with my dollar bills besides spit them back out onto the floor and force me to go digging for change. Props to New Wave for going all out on the authenticity.
Thank you for making the effort to entertain us in the middle of a horrible crisis. I hope that sometime, somehow you can get your home sorted out. The machine reminds me of an heirloom from my father: a platform-ticket machine for model railways from the 1930s. It used real (though small) coins and dispensed scale tickets.
Loved seeing this, the mechanism and lighting are the touches of realism that make all the difference. So cute! Nice can for the demo - I prefer Pepsi myself 😛
For complete realism, only dispense every 3 out 4 cans. I hated going inside the store to ask the clerk to open the machine. I was 9 so I was always afraid that they'd think I was lying.
Great work, LGR Blerbs! What a wonderfully featured toy/art/hobby/enthusiast/decor kind of thing. :) Best wishes with your home. Ever heartfelt for you in recent months.
Love it. I'd consider getting one if there were a cheaper version without the "refrigeration." Should just have a little ice pack with some insulation. That's all it really needs if it must have the ability to have an actual drink in there. Just enough to keep an already cold drink cold just long enough to finish it.
Fun fact: Bullfrog put the KitKat logo on the vending machines in Theme Hospital hoping that Nestlé would give them sponsorship money, but they never did.
I have found that the purpose of those mini fridges is not to cool things down but to keep already cold stuff from warming up fast. If you give the mini fridge time to get down to its coldest and then take an already cold soda out of a real fridge and pop it in there, it will stay almost ice cold all day. That's why I had one at my desk at work. I'd take my lunch out of the fridge at home, drive the 5 minutes to work, and then pop my already cold lunch in the mini fridge and it would stay very cold until I was ready to eat. I saw Alec's video. He's right about all of it. But they can still be useful in the right circumstances. We also used to take one on road trips and plug them into the car with an inverter. We'd get all the drinks and snacks really cold in the regular fridge the night before and then they'd stay really cold on the long drive. It is a lot easier than dealing with ice or ice packs that melt and stop being cold.
So much detail! I do hope they release other sodas for it though and stickers.... unfortunately the design of it wouldn't allow you to select a random drink unless you already had it set up that way.
I somehow feel like if you still had that doll you used from reviewing the Sims stuff from back then, you could display him interacting with any one of these machines.
11:02 that's more down to the fact that the engineers cheaped out than the actual peltier. I have made a water cooler that worked properly the issue is they put too little aluminium and improper heat transfer from the device (peltier) to the heat side and cold side. Its like a Rube Goldberg machine, if you don't do it right, it won't progress to the next stage.
Misloading those cans gave me "Operation" anxiety. I fully expected those metal rails to give you a bit of a shock when you hit them with the tweezers!
What would be nice is if the frontage and mechanism were powered separately from the fridge so you could still have it lit up in your diorama but without having the irritating fan noise/ high energy consumption.
I always wanted a full-size one myself, though I never though as to how I'd keep one stocked, nor where I'd actually keep one, cos they're not exactly small machines... :P
I'll admit, I giggled at the Pepsi can. All seven buttons being the same logo is annoying though, although since it only comes with (mini) Coke cans, I guess is understandable. It's not the sort of thing I collect, but if I did, I would definitely want a replica of the interior mechanism and range of mini-cans a lot more than a crappy "real" mini-fridge.
According to _Technology Connections,_ you should not buy these Thermoelectric fridges. They use even more electricity than a much larger 'normal' mini fridge! Of course, this is so much cooler with those minitature cans and money! :D
now i cant stop thinkig about Technology Connections when i see those things
I have no idea what they'd collab on but I'd love to see them do something together
same here... but makes a great room heater and creates a lot of buzz.

Putting Pepsi cans in a coke machine you savage! It is a really cool product if I had a sutible place for it, I'd probably buy one.
I would put in a Dr. Pepper can 😈

I don't know why, but I had a huge grin throughout this video. Such an iconic design. Such nostalgia.

It would've been more affordable without the cool company's license.
And it's not just any branding, it's period-correct too
It's free advertising for them. What's not for them to love?

I love little miniatures in exactly the same way as you. So cool
I've always wanted a vending machine since I was a kiddo.
There's something about them that make me dreadfully happy.
Saw this thing and instantly thought anout Technology Connections and how he wouldn't approve. Was cool to see you reference him in the video.

Nah, what's accurate is that these machines wouldn't even attempt to take in a dollar bill while the "Exact Change Only" light was illuminated, which it clearly is on this miniature.
Finally a Coke machine for in the Barbie mansion! I bet Clint has one somewhere 😅
"mmm, tastes like product!"
11:51 YOU MONSTER!!!
I love the details here. I'd want one pretty much just to have as a desk thing even though those tiny fridges are less effeciant than larger fridges.
I want one myself but the price is just to much for its size.
This is fantastic. So much detail!!
Cherry Pepsi in a Coke fridge? That's a paddlin'!
Glad to hear from you. This does look quite cool.
This hit me right in the childhood. Irritating adults for a quarter to get a soda. The cans were always cheaper.

Nice to see Flerbnerp survived the hurricane.
A nostalgic LGR machine should have diet Dr. Pepper in it. *can opening noise*
YES. I don't know why small stuff that is functional makes me go crazy. Okay now... make a small functional soda can.

Haha, the Alec caught me off guard.
Lol. As soon as the video started, I immediately thought of him and wondered what he'd say about this.
"What is this, a vending machine for ants?"
Miniature stuff is neat, especially when it's functional.

Ya the newer game machines they make have coin slot that actually works....tiny coins for credits
If they did an older style machine, you would just need a 1/6 scale Peter Sellers and Keenan Wynn in costume with it to have a complete scene.
