What a great idea! It looks simple but the zip ties and macrame knot make it look nice and finished. And you could put together as many as you wanted, like a giant version of the IKEA scarf hangers.

How do you know if your hot glue is non-toxic? Does the packaging normally state that?
Yes! Usually it’s in small text on the back of the bag.
I know you say the bin cages are the same size as a single Critter Nation, you even get into one. But have you ever actually measured. No disrespect but the Critter Naion looks bigger, especially taller.
I don't think I’ve said they are the same as a critter nation and have even said mine is slightly smaller. But similar yes.
I have measurements for the bin cage in the DIY bin cage video. Bins vary depending on the brand, and size.
A critter nation is taller. But that also doesn't mean a bin cage isn't a good cage. And it doesn't mean a critter nation is a bad cave either. They are just different.
I've chosen to use a bin for several reasons.
A few I can't share with the channel atm. 😉
But a few of those are:
Rats prefering floor space to height in studies.
Still having enough room to do basic rat behaviors.
Easier to clean.
No risk of rust.
Faster to clean.
Easier to decorate.
Climbing tapers off as rats age and over the day. But digging and other rat behaviors do not.
And in case it helps My bin is: 39 3/4x 21 1/2x17 7/8 inches.
