You pitched this book so well and what a great balance to reading Bakker! Maybe I’m basic, but I love stories that explore altruism or seemingly small, impactful gestures of kindness. ❤ I also love Arya’s arc, so this sounds like a winner! Have you read Warlord Chronicles? I adore that series though it is a “stark” contrast from how you described this Arthurian retelling. I would love to get to this book someday (not sure about the series yet), but I’m first planning to read Mary Stewart’s Crystal Cave. I should be getting to that later this year, and I’m very excited about it!
Thanks for watching Johanna! This book definitely can serve as a good taste test for the rest of the series to see if Lawhead’s style resonates or not. I collected the Warlord chronicles when I was about 14 and had them on my shelves for years but never read them. I think I ended up downsizing them which I now regret. Haha. I definitely would like to read them. I’ve heard a lot of praise for them!
@@callinicobo5991 you know I haven’t read either of those yet. Well I read the first few chapters of Mists of Avalon, but that was years ago and barely counts.

Very interesting. I've red the cycle decades ago and now probably I will re-red it, and read this one as well. Great review. Thank you.
@@callinicobo5991 you’re welcome! I really enjoyed this book a lot. Hope you do too!
My favourites "Arthurian" re-telliggs are the one by Mary Stewart (Merlin trilogy plus two other books) and "Mist of Avalon" by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Great video. I have a bunch of Lawhead on my shelves but have never gotten round to reading any!
With the new adaptation coming, there’s no better time!!
I read King Raven trilogy a decade or so ago and enjoyed it... need to go back and read Pendragon, it slipped off my radar until recently.
@@Kellen81 I haven’t read King Raven, but can confirm that Pendragon is excellent.
My favourite book is Pringles can
