Great instruction thanks. Left hand fulcrum is the biggest challenge, it felt too loose today, and actually a little pain in left arm/hand somewhere, but right hand felt better, i am right-handed. I can see that my grip has been very tight, squeezing the stick. Now i just let go, trying, and hope to experience what many drummers do when do it the good way.
When mark started talking about how some students never properly learned the rebound stroke and gave the basketball example suddenly everything clicked. Time to start from scratch, it's sad that it took me years to realize what I was doing wrong
Exactly the info I needed....great advise . Taking time to master the feel of the most basic movements ...I love that and rewarding when you start getting results.
You do not pick your wrist up - the force of the stick bouncing back from the drum or pad will naturally move your wrist back to the up position. You only control Only one motion: down
GREAT TEACHER... Mark was my drum teacher from 6th grade until I was a senior in high school.... Good job Mark.... :)
You are lucky

So when you're doing the rebound stroke, do you pick your wrist up or not? I mean is your wrist suppose to be doing a lot of movement?

Why doesn't it feel like I'm getting enough rebound off my snare? Do I have the snare head not set correctly? Thanks in advance.
Why can I do all of these techniques at first try without ever practicing it.
