The cap looks amazing! The bullion really stands out against the grey wool. Hearing how cheap items like these were back in the day always makes me jealous haha. This is something I probably won’t be able to afford with today’s prices lol. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Andy, it must have originally had more blue in it,but it's faded to this grey over the yrs.He also had a Luftwaffe other ranks visor cap which was also mostly faded, my dad thinks it's because they were left where the sun was hitting them through a shed window from 1965 to 1994 when I got it.The guy wasn't a collector, but he took a liking to a deactivated 1873 Colt single action (Italian Copy) that I had, I remember now, so my dad struck the deal for me.It appears to be good other than the fading and has the correct Lufty ribbed band despite it now being more of a Heer colour.I was just in the right place at the right time.It doesn't happen often enough :)

@@Ground0-dn1cv That makes sense. A little disappointing I guess but it seems to be in great condition otherwise, especially since it was left in a shed for decades. Perhaps the sun saved it from moth/insect damage? Yeah, I get what you mean by being in the right place at the right time. Hopefully it’ll happen more often in the future lol

@@resistanceremembered Jayne says she can still see the blue very faintly in places, but I'm colour blind so I can't at all lol. I actually got a few things from him on different trades, he was a dealer rather than a collector, but he'd kept certain things that he especially liked and then forgot about them in his shed.He was in his 70's back then.He had a Afrika Korps webbing belt and buckle that he'd personally picked up in WW2, He wouldn't part with it, despite my offers and begging lol. My dad used to buy vintage air rifles from him.

Thanks,I did once know the maker as apparently the black lining is specific to them, but I lost my research notes and I can't find the site again. Its definitely one of my better items. Thanks for watching :)

Thanks Steve, I was really lucky with this. it came from a friend of my dad's. He ran a little shop selling camping gear, air guns, army surplus and some militaria.. he'd had this in his shed since 1965.It sat in sunlight from the window for yrs, but it's otherwise OK.
