Gezzy can't contain his emotions after his defeats. The instagram story means nothing. It's just like after the 2023 World Championship when he said he would never take part in that tournament again.
What age do you reckon he will mature into a fully grown adult?

Meh! I used to be a fan of his but he behaves like an overgrown child and expects people to love him. I hope he doesn’t play next season. It’s a great bunch of lads , he’s the odd one out.
It won't be a case of him not wanting to play anymore,he won't be selected anymore anyway,he's gone backwards as a darts player in my opinion
The format of the PL is too repetitive for the players. Yes it works commercially for the very casual fan but expecting a small group of players to play against each other over very short format for 16 consecutive weeks is a bridge too far.
An improved format would pick 8 each week from a pool of 10 or 12 players. That provides much more variety whilst ensuring the fans see most of the top players each week AND gives the players some badly needed time off.

Hasn't got the firepower of the top 4 or accuracy at doubles , he got found out and doesn't like it so he is off in a sulk. Interesting to see in 12 months wether G Price P Wright still in top 10
Price is an excellent darts player, just a shame he's an angry mental Welsh man.
This is a sign of a player who feels they’ve made enough money and is a sore loser. Give the PL spot to an up and comer who is hungry to make a name for himself and would be more than happy to make life-changing money.
Don't blame him, don't bother watching & I love darts. Boring same old week after week, must be worse for them.

I'd like to see Damon Heta given a shot next year. Possibly Martin Schindler too. Peter Wright will also be out next time, he's been poor.

Heta is slow and annoying. I don't know who is in the Premier league, but there must be someone more entertaining than him! Is Chris Dobey in it? Off to check who's in it apart from the usual suspects....

Hate to say this as an Ozzie but Damon Heta bores me to tears, would prefer any other of the up & coming young guns. Would really like to see how Beau or Fallon would manage but it won't happen.
My dislike for Price subsided when he changed his walk on. Now he's changed it back I really don't like him again. There's something about a middle aged man walking out to a braggadocious track written by a 16 year old that is just bloody terrible 😂

Maybe he'll refuse a place and if he has other businesses so fair play. Dartingwise I sincerely think it's for the best. He is very popular on the Eurotour and has the capacity to go far in every event.
PL is just a PDC circus, as is the World Series, lot of travel and media days. I think it's easy to lose focus here, money might be good but competition is hard an rewards are few.
My advice is step off the circus train for a year, play all euros and PC's instead and see if the hunger is still there.

The format just isn’t enjoyable to viewers and probably the players too.
He also said he wouldn't play in Worlds anymore a few years ago so...
You can definitely be forgiven for taking this latest attention seeking threat by Gezzy with a pinch of salt. But on this occasion, I really do think he is being genuine.
The PL has had a negative impact on the form of other former world champions in Anderson and Wright in recent years, so Gezzy isn't alone in that regard.
And he is already appearing to make plans for post-PDC life anyway.
Personally, I think the PDC should not invite him next year. Same with Snakebite, despite his popularity.
Give those two spots to any two out of....
Heta (good for the Aussie market)
Clayton (former PL champ who did well in the new format, very popular)
Dobey (played way better than his finishing position in his debut PL campaign would suggest)
Chizzy (popular player who is climbing up the rankings again) or
Ando (IF he wants to return, though I suspect he does not).

He doesn't need the money and it can't be very fulfilling as a tournament given it's a glorified exhibition

I hear this same sort of chat every week at my league games from guys who are 'retiring' or 'never coming back' just because things arent going their way on the board. I put it down to attention seeking. All they want is an arm round their shoulder and for people to beg them to come back next week, its pathetic. You dont see this with other sports people like golfers or tennis players.

He’s a terrible loser, nothing more. It wasn’t a critique of the structure/format of the PL, it was just him showing off yet again because he’s not winning as much as he’d like. He’s not even being booed anywhere near as much as he was a couple of years ago… I used to like Gerwyn Price but at this point I’m fed up with him. He should either carry through with his threats, or stop making them.
That about the booing isnt true at all i have been to the prem in leeds Liverpool and Newcastle this year and he was booed in all of them especially leeds and Newcastle the booing was very loud, and for his attitude its hard to stay motivated when you are playing well but your doubles just aren't going in and when you need a bit of luck it never comes and when your opponents need a bit of luck it comes their way, he is just having a bad spell all players get it once his doubles start being more consistent he will be up there winning again
I kind of agree, but if you look at the night he threw the nine-darter. In his next match, he still got booed on his walk-on?? In that final he clearly lost motivation since he realised he could never do anything right for the english crowd it seems
@@Antwonio9 The big problem is he only cares about the booing when he doesn’t play well. When he’s hitting 110 averages and 9-darters you don’t hear anything about it, if anything he seems to relish it. Imo he uses the booing as a ready-made crutch for when he loses. The big problem is his ability to take losses on the chin. At this point the whole thing stinks of “I can dish it out, but can’t take it”. Earlier in his career he played the pantomime villain on purpose, that’s how the whole booing started. You can’t have your cake and eat it; either don’t do that in the first place, or accept the obvious outcome.
He has form. Oh, don't leave Gerwyn…we love you. You can wear ear defenders if you like. Do you keep threatening to quit your cafe as well….blah blah
I think if he dropped out of the top 10 he would hand his tour card back. He has other priorities out side of darts, and he gets soo much hassle from crowds
You may not see him again but i think the formate may have something to do with it as well. The old formate you only had to play once a night as for this one you may have to play 3 times. This one you may have to play the same players most night as for the old one it was someone different wach week. You also had to have moreplayers in the old one. Imo
Maybe he could try another sport, Throw Price in the ring with Usyk, would love to watch the knockout.
He cant handle playing bad, he knows he may not get picked next year so instead of facing that reality he wants to make it look like he chose not to himself.

Said it before so I'll say it again... Gerwen Price's problem is all in his head. He's throwing some really good darts but so are a few others. The other night in the Premier League he quit. I saw it. Call me a liar. He quit, when someone came back at him he just quit. Being a dart thrower you know how much is headology, so that's where the issue is. I don't understand... He's as good as he is, why the fuck does he care what people think? They don't know him. He should be using the booing as fuel. Likely the people booing him have a dodgy bet so win for yourself - more money - win to rain on their parade. Either use the crowd and the situation or let it break you, and at the moment Gerwen Price is only going one way.

Not sure he wont be playing in the PL again out of CHOICE!!!...its more like that he wont be asked again!....Him and Wright have been a complete embarrassment to the tournament this year.
Price has been averaging insane numbers but just losing to the others doing even better sometimes. He even threw a nine-darter and still got booed that night. Can't really blame him then can you?
Someone always has to come last doesn't mean they are a disgrace. If they was cheating or not giving 100% then maybe but they did their jobs.
Never looked really interested in the Premier League. Professional yes, wanted to win, but not enough and was not enjoying the challenge AND you have to be enjoying the challenge to do well. He would be better off not doing it based on his last 7 years results,. Feeling fresh and keen is better than feeling jaded and had a gutfull. Every tournament is better with him in it and can we please get Peter Wright better. He is the only player who makes an effort apart from Heta. He is an Aussie, clearly an amazing human :-)
Premier league is just a money spinner for Sly. I don’t think many fans would be too bothered if it was scrapped. I lost the little interest I had for it when they changed the format.
Premier League generates the main revenue which funds the entire year. It won't ever be scrapped, especially now it's grown to the level of filling arenas.
Format needs changing for sure, should play only once a night, and needs expanding to 10 or 12 players. Relegation should be introduced, where say the bottom 3 don't play the following year. That would give it a natural refresh by guaranteeing 3 new players.
Plenty of up and comers who are better players. No-one likes losing, but he reacts much worse than most and he's losing much more often.

I think the darts players can play too much darts and their form can drop, I understand they can fall out of the love of playing.

Most of the time the crowd not interested in the darts only getting drunk and stupid dressing up

There seems to be a core of so called supporters that are spoiling the sport.
Take away the alcohol and enjoy the game, instead of trying to make up new ways of getting their faces on tv. I blame Sky for promoting these self centred people.
Price, is an excellent player, who can entertain us with his brilliance, without the need of jeering from the people who do not have a 10th of his ability.
No complaints about the premier league when he was doing well in it 😅

Remove the crowd instead or at least have some sort of crowd control. The constant booing must get to him, ruins darts and I struggle to watch it anymore with the sound on

Premier League should be winners of majors ( Worlds, Matchplay, Grand Slam, Grand Prix, European Championship. and UK open......not Masters! ) This would be an extra incentive? Thats 6 places. PDC has one wild card pick and a public vote for other wild card pick. Obviously will have players winning two or more? So then go to next player on order of merit. If a player is sent an invite and declines move down to next player. With regard to Price, choice is his and he is not irreplacable? That I think would have made Premier league this year, Luke Humpries, Andrew Guilding, Nathan aspinal, Peter wright, Michael Smith and MVG with likely Luke Littler peoples choice and PDC picking either Rob Cross or Chris Dobey?
He clearly doesn’t like the format PDC ignored the players by keeping it in its current format they most don’t like it
I totally get it. The Premier League in its current format gets old very fast. The same matches over and over and over again.

Gezzy needs a year away from the PL imo. It's clear for all to see he generally struggles in the PL, so I think if he had a year away from it and then maybe he would be in contention for the year after, maybe thats the way to go. 💁🏼♂️

He did say he “wanted to reclaim his place at the top of the world rankings” and as pointed out here the PL is not a ranking event so this wouldn’t surprise me and will make for a new look second four too.

No great loss to the premier league. I'm sick of all the booing and whistling so the absence of Gerwyn may alleviate some of that.

@@ericjencson9489 It's not the alcohol, it's the size of the crowds. Strength in numbers. I used to go to the circus tavern every year, plenty of booze but in a smaller room it would take someone with a lot of balls (or very stupid) to barrack the players as they can be very easily be identified and if anyone stepped out of line they would be physically removed from the building. With a huge crowd and everyone else joining in, it is much easier to boo/whistle. The crowds now are too big to control.

@MartinTwo-yy6wf why doesn't security just do that? I'm just asking. I'm in the States and maybe our idea of crowd control is different, but we generally employ enough security to handle the problem.

2 factors... both around Luke Littler.
1) Price could draw him R1 at WMP.
2) Littler could hit the top 4 by the Worlds & should after.
@alenton81 - Another big factor is Michael Smith - He still has nearly £800,000 in prize money to defend in 2024 - Unlikely to be Top 4 after the Worlds
Aspinall’s ranking also heavily reliant on TV Majors and he has money to defend come the Grand Prix & the Grand Slam
Gezzy is and will be still my favourite player in darts and one that got me 100 % into sport myself, seeing that you can switch sports and be good in something else (like me and football, where I played poorly) ... the treatment he get from the fans is just boring now, they just do it because of that one spat with Anderson it seems ... when he got backing from the fans, he plays much better (like at that European Tour, where Schindler won), so for his good feeling and also reasons Matt said in the video (with other businessess going on) I would prefer if he stay away from Premier League for the next year (so Cullen and other good players like Dobey get this chance) and win some major again perhaps ... GWAAAN!
I noticed last night that there was the one person "front row" shouting Gerwyn is going to lose, when he was stepping to the Oche to throw for double.
I feel it could also be due to the amount of hate that his family are also getting from these so called fans

when you look at the final league table for the premier darts (as of 11 am on Friday 17th May) the total number if games in the games won column is 111 wheras the total should be 16 nights x 7 equals 112.

When Price pulled out one week, Humphries got a bye and was not credited with a win.
I will miss him. Like his darts. But it's interesting to see people like Price,Anderson possibly turning away from the PL.
