- Instructional video intended for geology students learning what strike and dip is, how to put it on a geologic map, and how to interpret existing strike and dip symbols on maps.
The best explanation on Strike and Dip I have come across on UA-cam. Clear, concise and visually makes sense. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for the compliment!
This is the best explanation I've ever heard about strike and dip, I wish I had you as a professor

You have an amazing way of explaining things. Please keep making these videos for future students to come across, it really helps us. Bless you.
I am so happy my teaching style suits you! I usually make videos on my summer and winter breaks as I never have time during the school year!
My lecturer failed to explain this in 6 months. You've done it in 6 minutes
I am glad this clarified things for you!
Watched and read many explanations and this is the simplest most concise and by far the best explanation.

I post videos only during my breaks as I do them on my own time since I am too busy during the school year. But I am about to start releasing videos of me at various national parks - about one per month...so stay tuned!

mam can you show how to calculate and write strike, dip amount and dip direction on same fold using brunton compass.
That is on my list to eventually do! I have more coming out in the next few weeks but that one will be later.
I'm no geology student but why exactly would you want to map out these features?
what is the practical application?
Hi! Great question! When you understand the direction various beds and fault travel underground you can predict where certain resources can be found if you drill down. The resources can be things like oil, natural gas, gold, etc. I hope that helps!
My professer was confused himself while explaning this😂
Sometimes it is hard being live in front of a class! I have been lecturing and my brain goes onto another topic before my mouth is done saying what it needs to say about the current topic and that is not a good result. Now I have been teaching for so long that I usually don't have those sorts of things happen anymore!
I hope at least my explanation was helpful.
Mam im from india....not well understand English can u help
Is this stupid geometry?
I still don't understand why it's so complicated? Someone please help me understand why
thank you !
You are very welcome!
