I've watched artists live and on youtube for years and never seen the guitar played as aggressively and creatively at the same time as in this video. My jaw is on the floor!
I don't have a problem saying Walter is one of the top guitarists. He had his rough times like a lot of us. I read a story where he credited Carlos Santana with approaching him after a drunken gig telling him to get his shit together and stop wasting his god given talent. Apparently he did! I salute you Walter
I have that cd of the tribute to Hendrix, actually he was on two different Hendrix tributes. He is a great guitarist and a heck of a nice guy, He signed my start after his gig in Charlotte NC, we were his guests for that show, I got pix with each band memeber and Walter and I talked for a long time like we had known each other for years. If you like him give a listen to Danny Bryants Red Eye Band!
Ya' know what pisses me off?? The fact that a HUGE company like Fender are willing to pump out 'bullshit' Fender and Squier signature guitars for some of the most under-talented '5 minutes of fame shit out there', and yet there's never been a sniff of a Walter Trout signature 70's hardtail!! Walter Trout = Living Blues Legend!
This was prime alcoholic Trout, Trout's always been a genius, but late 80s, early 90s, he was in his fucked up prime, and one of the best guitarists of all time
this guy plays from the soul and draws on 30 + yrs of blues dedication or what? BRILLIANT
Jimi would be proud! Walter is so overlooked as a guitarist it is not even funny....so, so talented and playing like his hair is on fire every night!
Never a true word spoken, so so fucking true!
Wish the sound was better in this recording. He kills.

Trout just burns, man.....copped a few Roy Buchanan tricks there at the end, too.
Hell yeah
Trout is one of the greatest guitarists ever
