This is incredibly dangerous for motorcycles. Is there no better alternative than using a sealant which will cause "tar snakes"? Why not just fill cracks with more concrete instead.
A cape seal, chip seal, or slurry seal are other solutions but they are extremely costly compared to this method. Maybe 5x the cost and so they are saved for roads that need more than just environmental cracking. If something is wrong with the road structurally underneath, they will do something more costly which will give a smoother product, but again it's really expensive and people constantly complain that governments waste all their money. They won't do a cape seal for something they can fix with crack sealing.
What they could maybe do is take a section of road that as cracks in it seal the cracks with the sealer and then get a bitumin emulsion sprayer to spray over the black lines that was left by reparing the cracks the bitumin emulsion would also hide the repairs too making a nicer look to the job the down sides of doing this tho would mean you would have to redo the road markings that where there before which would cost more so to make it as cost effective as they can they just seal them up and leave them
It works, but man it's ugly
You all are making me laugh your using the crackfilling squeegee.
what a tedious job
Don’t ride motorcycles then
As a person that works as a bridge inspector for MDOT/SHA in Maryland I can saw this stuff works great.
How do I become a bridge inspector
Hello I have a question for you... bridge inspector what do you ? Do you like I have the opportunity to become one but I got to see what they do first
I do this for a living lol.... that method they're doing is inefficient and messy as hell.
All the wrong ways to seal cracks use the stick right cause everyone is using them wrong
I wish they did this here in Illinois
They Do In My Town
Great explainer. Thanks!
