yeah, i think that jax will be depressed- and since gooseworx said something about a character we haven’t met yet abstracting, i feel like it might be one of the new characters or someone that we actually have no idea of
none of the new characters will be abstracting. and none of the original cast will be abstracting either, not this early on in the series. the new characters are AI, not human. they can’t abstract. meanwhile, gooseworx isn’t going to just kill off one of the main characters in the second episode. i wouldn’t expect to see any of the main cast abstracting soon.
I feel like Jax bullying and picking on others may be a coping mechanism. Think about it, you get transported into a whole new world with no escape at all and living through it and playing all its games like you’re a Guinea pig in this world. And losing your mind leads to death(or in this case, abstraction), you would need to find a way to cope through this new world, right?. I think Jax picks on the others to cope with everything(and possibly to entertain himself) and in the scene where he’s on the ground looking sad, we find out about the depression he suffers through just from living in this world. But tbh I don’t think Jax will go through much character development, I think he’s gonna stay the a-hole we all know and sort of love.
And he might be helping the other circus members forget things as they start to turn insane, he’s probably also trying to not have anyone die/abstract, I mean, it does make sense, right?
My theory is that Pomni somehow got separated from the rest. Jax grieves over this probably because he has something to do with this. Or that he gets angry and shoots someone.
My guess is Pomni along with Gummigoo and his gang saves the other circus members from being eaten by the fudge monster, but unfortunately Pomni could have been swallowed during the rescue, leaving Jax feeling guilty over losing Pomni.
Or maybe Jax has been going insane slowly and one of the gummies notice it and when they bring it up he starts to actually open up about it and it makes him feel uncomfortable because I feel like he probably copes by making fun of the member and you can see a gummy shark in the background

Goose works did say the episode would be like Jax a long time ago so maybe it’s a little like Jax and it shows his depressed side. If he’s depressed, maybe that’s why he’s teasing everyone
When redeeming a character, the best way to go is to have them fall from grace. Jax falling from his high horse that he's set up for himself with as you said either an accidental murder caused by adrenaline or not being rescued would indeed be a good take on his path to redemption!
Jax’ rudeness has reasons. Like when he broke Gangles mask even more to get the attention off of Pomni. And there are a lot more examples on how he did small ‘rude’ things to help.

Before my dog died, my dad used to say that he hopes he died, but when he did die, my dad mentioned that he didnt mean it, it was his way of coping. Msybe with jax, since he IS sad, msking fun of others and being a jerk is his way of coping with the fact that theyre all stuck in s digitalized circus
I'm starting to think the characters are avatars based on themes from different worlds like how Ragatha has some characteristics of the candy canyon kingdom. Making me excited for the theme where Jax's avatar originated from.

It was more about reality being shattered when you know too much, but other than that he was mostly upset because the adventure wasn't violent enough. Maybe he has a lot of pent-up rage and none of the adventures have enough action or violence for him to let it all out. I imagine his room would be an absolute mess because of this.
