If you're asked to give title to this speech, what will you suggest?
I am a 'never comment on social platforms' person. But i would like to answer those who are blaming Ustaz Nauman of exaggeration. Well, all he talked about is Islam. Mind it, he is the guy who observed, studied and lived in diverse cultures, Muslims and otherwise. He understands pretty well what Islam actually is and how we molded it to serve our individual causes, especially in this region. We need to understand that how we exploit our weak ones (children, siblings, or juniors) in the name of islam is our culture and it has nothing to do with the actual Islam. And there is no exaggeration in obeying the true Deen of Allah. Nowhere in the world do parents exploit their children in the name of Islam like they (most of them) do in Pakistan
He's just submerged into Quran.I have been listening him since 5 years. couldn't find better than him
He's not exaggerating. He is simply reminding Pakistani people what Islam is actually supposed to look like in society. It looks like exaggeration to many Pakistanis because it is inconceivable to them to stand up for truth and justice alone. But only people who fearlessly stand up against lies are the true Muslims, and only such people are truly respected and remembered after they die.

Yes I agree with you, he is not exaggerating, just giving a reminder in very polite way of how far we have come from true spirit of our deen. The reminders is to open our minds and not muddle our own desire, petty gains and aspirations with Islam.

I agree 110%! After having grown up outside Pakistan, then having to assimilate into our society, it was shocking to me to see how messed up most families' values are. Such strong Hindu influences. We're muslims only in name. Instead of giving our kids a value system that empowers them to distinguish between right & wrong, & to teach them to stand for what's right, they are taught to blindly obey their parents & side with the family no matter how wrong they are. No wonder we're in the state we're in.

Good teacher - no doubt about that! But managing and driving changes is not achieved by mass lectures. He is not infallible
Our messenger SAW was kind to children and would initiate saying Salam to them. In my limited knowledge of Islamic history I have not come across any incidence where a father is rude or punished their child. Surely when Hassan AS and Hussein AS would climb on Prophet SAW back he could have punished them after all they were disturbing him during the act of worship yet he never did it.

I understand that there are many issues in Pakistani society but in this day age when everyone preaching western values and showing us the liberal and freedom even in curriculum and . He should be preaching kids to respect more their parents. They are leaving parents. Due to such imams soon we will have parents old age homes.

But it's also obligation to let the person know if he is changing his stance or showing weakness in his arguments to open space for misinterpretations. Young generation already been taught to rebel against traditional islamic values. so statements like many in this video are shocking for me too.
No I think so u don't understand the whole picture just watching 1 lecture of him..he is giving examples regarding parents taking advantage in many ways, creating problems in husband and wife relationship, not giving u permission to marry and force marriage, there are many respective ways to make them reliase abouts ur rights as well.
Parents will be in old homes, due to themselves. Not Islam, not imams, not children.

This is a calling for the change - something that has not happened in generations and we have seen consequences in our society today. All grown ups who dont stand up for what is right were also children at one time.. what made them selfish and irresponsible as citizens? What was lacking in their upbringing? Nobody is at fault if they dont know any better. Nouman Ali Khan has stated a very simple fact - no one gets to violate anyone rights given to them by Allah the Almighty. They key for all such conversations is to talk in polite respectable manner but still be able to disagree for what is not right. This is only going to make us better muslims and human beings.
