Lots of booktubers make me want to have read a book. But your videos make me want to actually go and read. Like I am experiencing a major internal battle - do I finish your delightful video or do I drop everything and start reading right this second?? Your content has been such a wonderful discovery this year ✨📚

Thank you for these lovely words. It’s so nice to hear that my videos inspire you to read more. Go grab a book!

Great video as always. I’m currently reading the Complete Stories of Clarice Lispector and also The Well of Loneliness by Radclyffe Hall. I’m in awe of what is filling my brain this month.

I really enjoyed The Tainted Cup I read it as part of the Merphy Naiper read along earlier this year and I can't wait for the sequel. The magic seemed so unique. I do love fantasy crime with my favourite author being Ben Aaronovitch so that may contribute to it.

Yeah, Tained Cup was great. I did read Rivers of London a while back and didn't carry on. I just checked my GR and I gave it three stars in 2014 and wrote that it had whetted my appetite for more. I wonder why I didn't go back for more. Maybe I will now.

You have done well with reading, especially as you have the substack and this chanel plus the journal channel all on your plate.

I’m looking forward to TSA so much but I’m not letting myself start until I finish WOT!!

I take it that's Wheel of Time? I read the first two a couple of years ago and enjoyed them, but for some reason I didn't carry on. I know I will someday. It would be nice to have the set, but it would take up like a whole bookshelf!

Enjoyable episode, thanks for posting. Your style appeals to me as do your selections. I am a slow reader and am OK with that. I get through only two or three books month. Fantasy, historical fiction, mystery, some non-fiction. Just finished Well of Ascension (7/10) and now am on to the next in Louise Penny’s Inspector Gamache series, The Nature of the Beast. The characters are so well developed and become like friends of yours as you get to know the quirky folks of Three Pines. Keep up the great content!

Thank you! Yeah, slow reading is the way. I'm making a conscious effort this year to slow myself down in the the hope that I will retain more and get more enjoyment. I don't know the Inspector Gamache series. I'll take a look.

I’m also struggling with Genji, but you’re doing better than I am! I was reading the same translation as you, but switched to the Washburn, so I’ll see how that goes.

Yeah, I have the Washburn on Kindle. I dunno though. It kinda feels like I've DNFed it.

I’m currently reading Words of Radiance (loving it!) and planning to get to The Tainted Cup next! Can’t wait 😊 And thanks for the tip about reading Warbreaker before Rhythm of War, that’s good to know!!

Nice one! I'm wondering whether The Tainted Cup will be in my top 5 for the year. So far, it's a dead cert.

Really enjoy catching up with your reading. As you mention it, what is your good reads account so we can follow?

Your murder is fine. Because I learnt words on Scottish dad and Devon mum, I can be caught saying it both ways. I tell you I get some funny looks. Book, cook, and look is the same, as is school. My best friend says it keeps her on toes and I'm a one woman dialect repository, especially when I come out with a Yiddish word. It would be a grey, if we all had the same dialect and accent.

@@CamsCampbellReads I tried to a video outside the bookstore but the phone kept quitting. I've been on a massive book buying spree but from this place called BOOKS MILLION, I purchased: THE NEW MUTANTS Omnibus by Chris Claremont and various artists. Collects all of the issues I had as a teenager including the celebrated DEMON BEAR storyline that Bill Sienckiwicz (sp?) lent his trippy artistry to. From those surreal images came LEGION...which eventually became an equally surreal super-hero mutant show a few years back. Two big brick anthology science fiction volumes of APOCALYPSE tales. Perversely, that concept sort of has a comfy blanket effect for me. And last but least, a Sherlock Holmes/ H.P. LOVECRAFT hybrid by James Lovegrove.
