The guardians have been around for quite some time now and even though Medivh's novel was called "The Last Guardian", there's still one on Azeroth even though we never hear about him. But who are the guardians and why do we need them? That's what we're going to find out!

Why is it that all cool characters in warcraft universe get corrupted or possessed, and suddenly they become evil and they get real stupid death or just disappear.
I love watching your video , you add more to the game and make it better for us

Basically, Med'an is one of the most disgusting Mary-Sue characters ever created. It's like he was written by an anime obsessed 12 year old. A part Orc, Draenei and Human, Shamanistic Paladin-Mage Monk that instantly becomes an expert in anything he dabbles in, grew up in solitude knowing nothing of his parents.
It's as if his creator just took the first thing from the Mary-Sue generator and said, "Yeah, that'll do."
All he needs to be the most ridiculous character ever is spiky, purple hair and glowing eyes and-.... Oh wait. -_-
I think I have watched this 3 times now, it is such a well told story well done Nobbel
If I ever have questions or don't understand or know a particular story-line, I always know where to come for the best lore explanations and story telling. Love your site Nobbel!

The Guardian really reminds me of the Avatar from Avatar: The last Airbender

If anything the avatar should remind you of the guardian. The book the Last Guardian for example was written long before avatar the last airbender. The whole idea existed years prior to the idea of the avatar

Hey Nobbel, Love the videos you've been making, I have another question for the Q&A.
Do you think since Garrosh isn't going to be the patch boss again, that it could be Wrathion? We know that he has alot of power now after the quest line and the titan artifacts. We also know that they said it would be "A guy behind a guy" where Wrathion pops in because he keeps setting things up in place for one side to lose (ie Garrosh or Varian) and apparently neither won. With all this said, do you think that I have even come to hint at anything at all about the next patch boss?

Great Video. Mind making one on the apex crystals and their relationship to the ogres in outlands they can also be used to summon a dragon to fight and for forging some interesting items.
This is my fav story in all of the lore. And my fav video by you. The Last Guardian and Arthas my fav novels.

The gnomes where the repair unit of the ancients while the dwarves where the workers and the giants the gardians.
When the curse of flesh started the hid in the places we now call gnomeregan where they retrained most of there repair abilities.
Not all of the cursed where that happy maybe because of malfunction or the engineering useless against the trolls of Kalidor. Less intelligent ofshoots of gnomes settled arround Uldum the Pygmy (there also rumored to be ofshoots of goblins but the Halls of Origination nearby makes that theory implausible)
The Outlands has desert gnomes similar to the Pygmy in behavior. We can speculate that the ancients left there mark on Dreanor. Maybe even going so far that the Gron where victims of a curse of flesh as well

I hate it when people make a over powerful characters, not even that, I hate the invincible characters that what ever they do they will take out everyone with no problem. Medan just seems like a crazy fanfiction character some one came up with.
You mean the Mary Sues characters? Yeah. Beside, they only fill two roles in fiction they either: good for nothing (Ie: They become Sage and do nothing) a la Elminster Aumar from Forgotten Realms or They fall due to arrogance, betrayal, Tzeentch level plotting with often plots withing plots, Love, Misguidance or an amalgam of all them.
Keep in mind, they are often use not as character (with a fews exceptions) but often as plot dump for real hero to do something. In the end, that mean you have 50/50 chances of enacting your disgust for them by colon-swordoscopy and that's always fun.

That's is also why the last decent thing about Superman, depending on who you ask, is either Red Son or All Star.
People read Superman for the spectacle. The devastation and the inhuman fight between his opponent. It's the Micheal Bay of comic book. Except when they try new thing like Superman renouncing his American citizenship so he wouldn't start the next World World and American storm DC with such hatred that Hell froze over.
that's maybe why he doesn't appear in the game. He is too powerfull. a super hero or vilain is ok in a movie ... but in a game, what's the point of levelling your character and solving the world's problems ... if medan is here and could destroy everything ?

How many of those insurmountable monster have you fought in game. The ones that every NPC say it hopeless. I left at the Lich King, but there was Artas, Kil'jaeden, Onixia, Deathwing...
As for Medan... A little retcon would go a long way.
For some reason, I thought Dalaran was built mostly just because Strom had become too densely populated and it was part of that whole migration thing that included the building of Gilneas and Kul Tiras and such.

Once upon a time, way back in classic WoW, we had the dragons of nightmare. These were world bosses that you could raid. The story behind it is that the emerald dream became corrupted by N'zoth, turned into the emerald nightmare and these dragons started to work for N'zoth. Ysondre used to be a dragon of nightmare, but she still fears of getting corrupted again so she sends you on the task of killing the others. wowpedia.org/Ysondre

Medan isn't canon
I'd like the see Medan in game at some point. Perhaps when the Void Lords are introduced as the culminating antagonists and someone of Medan's power scale is required.

Why are people so butthurt over the video? It is just the Guardian videos packaged into one so a new viewer doesn't have to go hunting for the rest of the series and it provides a seamless transition between parts.
Hi, this is slightly old film, but I only encountered it now. Would it be possible for you to upload your picture sources somewhere (or in the description)? I know it's not possible to do so for every picture but it would be nice to know which comics you were referring to in the video and credit them, or have you done this elsewhere and I just haven't found them!?.

can you please update Meivhs story? we saw him in retunr to Karazhan, and not just echos, he apiered when we have done the chest event, and so on. And Agewyn is need a pluss lore mention, when she apier (as an image in the new Legion dungeon in 7.2) :P

Hey Nobbel87, how did the base of Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian get to C'thun?
And how come that Kel'Thuzad got the head of Atiesh?
(In Vanillia you can "build" the staff from AQ40 and pieces from naxx. Every boss in naxx had a chance of droping a "Splinter of Atiesh",)

Hey Nobbel,I really like your videos and i have a question for you.Why did they imprison Illidan... i mean didn't he do a good thing with making another well of eternity?
Well...not in the eyes of the night elves. They had just fought a war with the Burning Legion because of the original well. Now Illidan had polluted their main source of water by turning it into a new well. They feared a return of the bl, using arcane magic became a crime punishable by death and they wanted to execute Illidan. His brother Malfurion pleaded for Illidan's life and they imprisoned him instead.

In the book he also lashed out and killed others when they tried to detain him.
43:40 - Ah, I love that bit right there. It shows how the scripting in the game made character 's being cut off mid-sentance convincing. -- Very much unlike the 10 seconds pauses they have in the scripted WoW dialouge.
they could have still acknowledge that me'dan learned his father's wishes and he just give the power back to all the council but reminding everyone to stay united against all odds. I dont know, they could pull off me'dan in the story but again, they're always free to retcon or make it noncanon
It would actually be awesome if they brought medan back into the story when the finale battle against the burning legion takes place. An epic battle with medan vs. The Lord of the legion would be crazy exciting!
Haven't they retconned several aspects of Aegwynn's story since this was uploaded? Things like the circumstances of Medivh's conception are different now, I think.

what if Wrathion turns on the world for whatever reason and bam, in comes Medan to stop him at the end of an upcoming expansion? That was my first thought after finishing the video. Great stuff by the way.
Nobbel, may be Medivh granted his powers to his son, knowing he was going to other Realities and would need them to protect them from events happening them, fighting Cho'Gal being just a way to practice them.
That is as you say that he is gone to other worlds.
Probably fixing things and avoiding events his father and grandmother like Entities, would create?
nobbel how did you get the footage when medivh opens the dark portal?
I honestly think that Me'dan will follow his fathers footsteps. I have a feeling that as Medivh explained his story to his son he also noted how he taught Mortals to that they no longer need Guardians. I don't think the will be left unchecked by Me'dan. I believe he will honor his fathers approach and not step in to protect Azeroth. Perhaps he will teach this to different planets.

I ran 4 dungeons while listening to this.
i hope they will include the remnants of the well of eternity in the broken isles. Suramar seems like the place it could be but you never know, just seeing it in the video makes me wanna do the dungeon again. And hopefully theyll put a big storyline around it if they do decide to add it, other than "hey look theres that well thingy, OK TIME TO GO"

They never fully outright state what has happened to Medivh, all we know is once WC3 was done he vanished. We see his spirit and power later on but that is in the tower so we do not know for sure if he is dead.
I like Aegwynn... She did kinda good, even tho using her power to get the tongue of a few demons for ways to get to the twisting nether...

I would like to see Medan make an appearance in game because these comics were so beautiful, I would like to see it made canon. But, before they introduce this character...
Make sure people get to know Medan... This was a huge problem for Khadgar in WoD. A lot of people didn't know him because a lot of people don't follow lore outside of what they see in game. Maybe a large quest line that involves a few of the people included in his story, slowly revealing his story. Not an hour long worth of dialog and quest text, but a short tale that consists of the necessities. Something that can fit in a Lorewalker Cho storytime thing.
2. You don't need to nerf Medan. Sure, maybe he does seem pretty strong, but he's not all that. He couldn't even kill Cho'Gall, but we totally kicked his ass. A majority of his power game from the 'council' channeling through him, and he returned that power afterwards.
But, it could totally be possible that Medan had died or something and had given his staff to Khadgar (which would need to be explained.)

Wow, I main a mage and all this talk about superpowered guardians make me feel insig-fucking-nificant... but then again, I did defeat Illidan.. killed Arthas... killed Deathwing... killed Garrosh... and Archimond... 3 times now?
