Every single thing mentioned here is really true and honest! I used to be into game dev a couple of years ago and had to quit from life and burnouts. Recently I started again, but with a totally different mindset. I KNOW there will be minimal time for it. I KNOW i don't have to rush it. I KNOW there will be days when I'll miss it because there's just no time. Relaxing and enjoying it is the holy grail, yes, in the end, for most of us it's a hobby. It's an itch we've had deep inside since we were kids. We didn't just wanna play, we wanted to mod, create. As soon as you accept some facts, your mind will be set free and you'll have pure enjoyment in game dev ❤️
One thing that helps me is if I don't feel like working on my game, I try to accomplish just one thing per day even if I spend just 5 to 10 minutes on it. And then, after I accomplish that one thing, I go on about my day. But, this is just MY idea and way of doing it.
Garrett... You are a Godsend. I am a high school game design instructor since 2002. I mastered coding in Blitz3D and was one of their biggest "Evangelists" until Unity popped on the scene and they stopped updates. Over the years I've struggled to switch over to Unity and could never embrace it like I wanted to. When Godot came, it seemed an answer to my prayers. Over the last 3 years I have tried with all my might to find the right tutorials/etc to get me over the hump and "In Love" with Godot. So many tutorial series I have tried and would always get to a point where the frustrations were unbearable e.g. complex coding choices without an explanation. Not that I couldn't figure it out, but knowing my 200+ students (every year) would need a tutorial style that would turn them ON to coding and not close that door forever. Because of you, my students (especially the graphic artist non-coder types) are choosing to use GODOT in increasing numbers. Keep being you!
I don't even know where to start. Thank you! I am so glad that my tutorial are able to make such an impact, My intentions are to create something clear and easy to understand, something you are able to learn and build off of and this comment makes me incredibly happy! It shows that my tutorials are making an impact, and it means the world. Thank you for sharing this information with me! You've made my day so much brighter, this inspires me to work on so many more tutorials, I've just starting working on another Godot how to series, and this story here has made me so much more motivated to finish it!! This means more than the world to me! Continue teaching and working so hard for your students, You've spent 3 years searching for something to better your students and it really shows you care so much about them and their future!! You are an amazing teacher so thank you for that!
I didn't feel like programming in the past 2 weeks so I didn't pushed myself or anything and now the motivation just comes by itself. You just have to wait until that moment.
Networking has always been the hardest part for me. I've never understood how to network through Discord channels, like... what do I say? Maybe I should look for teams in game jams?
I like to do about 1-2 hours per day excluding weekends, in my opinion if you're making a relatively simplistic game like a platformer it should be done fairly quickly
currently don't but thinking about! i love some of the current community's but I also believe they can be done a little different to become a better place for game devs to hang out.
I use trello mainly for my projects, but I think if you learn notion then i could be better.. maybe.. but trello is really simple and has everything you need
I'm working on a couple smaller projects like game jame size and some that I want to create a full series over for here on UA-cam. And as for big games I am still trying to prepare because it is a huge task to take on a big full game project.. kinda scary to dedicate years to a single project but I really want to start soon!
Bro i am comment about a visibility enabler related error maybe that comment filtered by youtube if that comment not appear please check spam comment section in youtube studio
