I have found 8 such mounds in my area by studying LIDAR maps. They are between 12 and 18 meters across and close by old metal ore mining sites from the bronze and viking age. I am in fact going to explore some of them this weekend.
It's interesting to see the stigma associated with many of these old professions. Reminds me of that episode of Hardcore History by Dan Carlin about executioners.
