It's actually even better on the French dub. They changed a bit the dialog so when the guy do the one legged stretch he says: "Look at my leg...Oooow! Ouch, leg cramp!" instead of laughing.
The singing part is funny as hell. But when they got beat up the mood quickly shifted. That's what I like about Stephen Chow's movies. They are almost always about a low man climbing the ladder of success but along the way has to endure some really tough obstacles such as the one shown in this scene.
No one here mentioned how when he looked at the bar boss, he realized that if he fought back then his brother will lose his job definitely. So he just accepted the beating and even thanked the bullies.

Anyone who grew up watching Stephen Chow's version of Mo Lei Tao, will instantly love all his films. The best and smoothest has since been Kung Fu Hustle, but I hear that KH2 is in the works.. can't wait!

Super original version. It’s a very influential film turned movie; some countries would find such a philosophy as dangerous or even illegal. We are blessed to have seen the original. And by we i mean anyone in the planet who saw the original. Edited version were already being distributed; where as the original was being passed around. I got the pass around and thank god for it. This film was a memorable one and top of my list in favorites.
