Well from todays perspective the gameplay lacks some elements which would make the game more deep and I don't think about annoying cutscenes or talking moments. I wish there was Stalker like game taking place on Na Pali ;)

it makes it sound like this is towards the end of the game but in reality you are a little more than half way done. This game is probably one of the longest ive played.
It took me at least 40 hours to complete my second run, and even more hours for my first one. Easily the longest single-player game I've gone through since Final Fantasy 7.
Very sad that Epic Games explicitly prohibited fan-made remakes of the first Unreal on the latest unreal engines, for some weird copyright issues. I'm still hoping they will make a remake of the series sooner or later; anyway most of the old games had their remake/reboot version, why shouldnt Unreal have one?
My favorite track. Certain other tracks have calm and combat segments with jarring transitions. I like how this track just stays consistent throughout. I wish those other tracks isolated the drastically different parts and looped and extended them just as you would hear them in-game. Especially Hub 3(Spire) so you don't have to wait 5 minutes to get to the best part.
That's because the game loops specific sections of the tracks for specific moments. Like the first half of a level loops the first half of a song, second half loops the second half of the song.

I played this game on a crappy PC as well, sometime around 2001? It could barely render some of the outside sections over 15fps, back when 640x480 was "good graphics". I tell ya, it really felt revolutionary. The botmatches were fantastic and the AI felt like it was borderline alive at times, even though you could clearly see when it was being stupid occasionally. When my dad got a Voodoo 4 card, and it could run on High settings at 800x600, it felt truly next-gen. The lighting, the effects, and the texture work are all just outstanding, then you have smooth-as-velvet gameplay with satisfying and fun weapons, sound design that was immaculate, and atmosphere that I only ever saw rivaled with Half-Life, until I found other games from the era later on in life. I love being nostalgic for Unreal because it reminds me when things were made better and with more passion.

Unreal was the last game released by Epic Megagames. After 1999 they were just Epic Games
