Do you still like the stove. And how long will it burn unattended

Yes, I'm actually tending to it as I write this, just threw in some coal and waiting for the fire to pick up again before adding more.
It certainly burns longer than wood, and will stay hot for a good 12 hours but by that time it would be a chore to get going again.
I like to add coal early while the fire is still good and hot and the new coal on top lights right up fast. Wait too long and it can smother out the fire pretty easily. A fresh load of coal will suck the life right out of a smoldering fire, putting it out.
It varies depending on how wide open the air flow and damper are set, but I give it about 6 hours. Shake out the ash and add more coal while the fire is still cooking good and hot.
If I were to get something else using coal, it would be a bigger stove with automatic feed from a hopper using "rice coal". The Amish in the area use and sell those. They can burn unattended for days.
