Singapore Airlines A380 Premium Economy | Around The World In 8 Days - Day 7&8

- The final legs of my journey around the world began in New York at JFK Terminal 4, where I was about to board one of the most iconic aeroplanes in the world, operated by one of the best airlines in the world. Singapore Airlines Airbus A380.
The actual flight runs from New York to Singapore, with a stopover in Frankfurt. Singapore Airlines have 'Fifth Freeom' rights on the JFK to FRA leg, and this is the sector I would be flying today.
It was an awesome - but much too short - experience, see for yourself in the flight review video.

Love the A380 and a nice set of videos.
Thanks a lot! Glad you like them.
Sadly SQ is downgrading JFK-FRA to B777-300ER.
I Like the product Premium Economy.Great Work
Glad you like it!
Thank you for sharing this! I think Premium Economy is pretty good for long haul flights.
Yeah, but you still can't beat business! Thanks for watching!
Nice review. A380 is my favourite, too. Have flown PE Syd-Fra return a few times with SQ and was impressed. The service was better than LH PE in comparison.
a nice ending to your world tour Tony 👌it dosent seem that long ago since the A380's entered service ( or is it me just getting old too quickly 😄)
Thanks Dave, the A380 only came into service in 2007, very short lifespan.
Great vid! Which airline would you say has the best seat in terms of comfort/space in premium economy?
Thanks! In my limited experience of premium economy (BA,IB,SG,JL) I would say Japan Airlines. I believe ANA and Emirates are supposed to be good, but I haven't flown them so can't really offer an opinion.
I also love the A380 I would prefer it above all others I've been on. I'd like to book Premium next time I go to NZ.
7:23 - a bit worried about those cracks in your window! I would be keeping my seatbelt tightly fastened!!
It's just ice crystals 🧊
Hi, I recently flew BA WTP & saw your review which was pretty average. It seems you preferred SQ. I know they aren't really comparable but the catering on WTP with BA looks 10x better than this wouldn't you agree? I do agree that the A380 makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Tony. Thanks for the review. We’re just looking at booking PE flights and the only available seats are in the back row as you are. Did you notice any restriction in the recline of the seat and did you find being next to the toilets an issue? Thank you
Hi Carol, there's no restriction in recline on the back row. You can hear the toilets flushing occasionally, I didn't find it too intrusive and the noise cancelling headphones do a good job.
Have a great trip!
@@TonyCulshaw thank you. Will do 😀
Nice vlog sir.
Thank you!
Yes love A380. It’s so quiet and has loads of storage room upstairs.
Yeah - when you can open the bins on BA!
Hello Tony, wise decision to take SQ JFK-FRA. You know we could have had this service. Many years ago SQ asked UK govt for fifth-freedom rights LHR-JFK but our DfT rejected SQ's request ... presumably because of opposition from BA and VS. Govts always protect their national airline(s) and fifth-freedom rights nowadays are a sensitive matter. FYI SQ did gain fifth-freedom rights for AMS-JFK a route it did operate for a while but it wasn't a success.
I can believe that, they do have fifth freedom between MAN-IAH though, I didn't know there were that many Texans in Manchester! Thanks for watching, and happy new year!
@@TonyCulshaw In fact I'd forgotten about MAN-IAH. What would have helped SQ's request is the fact that no other airline operated the route (or had plans to operate in future) and such a link would boost connectivity for the North. Happy New Year to you too Tony.
Is there a dedicated lavatory for premium economy passengers on the sq a380?
There's one either side at the back of the cabin, but I don't believe they are just for PE.
That's where iam flying jfk singapore airlines premium economy . This coming Wed. ARE we allowed to go to the lounge and wait until the flight
I don't believe Singapore allows lounge access to premium economy travellers unless they have status.
Did I miss what power options are available?
There's a USB slot in the screen and behind where the headphones plug in, and a universal power socket next to the water bottles for each seat - it was dark down there.
@@TonyCulshaw thanks, but what is universal power slot? 110v?
@@waynelast1685 I don't normally worry about the voltage, if I plug it in and it works, I'm good, if not then I'll use my power pack. A quick search suggests it's 110v, but don't take my word for it!
The money you pay extra for premium economy gives you only 6 inches of legroom and . 5 inch of seat width. Not a good value. But there are other good features like headphones and food, but for me I just need the extra seat space.
For me, the value is in the recline and being able to get some sleep without the person next to you leaning on your shoulder in the middle of the night. Not as good as business, but way better than economy - of course that's only my opinion, and different people value things differently. Thanks for watching.
@@TonyCulshaw yeah it’s not bad, just the seat width is only .5 different according to Singapore website. The recline is nice . I forgot about that. Also the head rest I think “folds” to give extra support for your head?
@@waynelast1685 I think you're starting to understand my values ;o)
