Work Trip Loadout | Preparedness on the Road with an AUG

  • It’s far too easy to pack your bags for a trip and hit the road without giving a second thought about the little items that can make your life easier and the big items that could save your life.
Collin Underdahl visits Josh and Drew and goes over some of the more “overlooked” items he keeps with him on long work trips to help him stay better prepared. This is not a comprehensive "preparedness" travel video. These are simply some items one guy travels with to give you ideas of what you're overlooking.

I’m an ER doctor. That was definitely not a spider bite. It was a simple abscess. Spiders get a bad rap. People ALWAYS think abscess are from a spider when in fact, spiders almost never bite anyone. In my ER, when someone checks in for a spider bite, we call it the “MRSA Spider” because 95% of the time, it’s a simple abscess.

Yes that was an ingrown hair that got infected. I have no education whatsoever BUT I did have that before. Experience. I like this video and the basic idea of just having some things that are useful on hand. I carry a pretty big "make up bag" (lol) everywhere I go (always) and I think it is almost like a blanket that helps you FEEL more safe and secure however when I go out I always feel like I should have a little bit more. Anyway, yes good video. I rarely use nails ever for building and always prefer deck or construction screws but have actually come around to simple mails and a titanium hammer (good tool). Easier to use without any power at all, especially in a pinch so I carry a large box of 3" nails in the truck.

I noticed you have been using some flow556k suppressors. I'm really curious about the more subjective experience of the sound suppression. Lets say that you suppress your DD 14.5 RISII with a surefire socom RC2 and we call that a 5/10 on how quiet it seems while you're shooting the gun. 0/10 being a bare muzzle and 10/10 being the quietest 22LR you've heard. Lets say we take that same gun and suppress it with the flow556k. How would it rate as far as how quiet it seems to you, the shooter, when shooting the gun? Does it seem quieter than the socom RC2 (6,7,8, or 9/10 ) or does it seem louder to you the shooter (4,3,2,1,/10).
All I ever hear is people quoting db at the shooter's ear, but I've never heard anyone simply say that it sounds really quiet compared to other popular suppressors.

Question I hope sombody can answer: when storing anything in ur vehicle what's some tips and tricks to avoid erosion, moisture, and other elements that may weaken or damage equipment such as medical, prep food, survival supplies, ect.

    • @Shin_Lona
      @Shin_Lona Рік тому

Honestly, anything that I was worried about in that regard, I probably wouldn't keep in my vehicle. Obviously, it's good to be prepared for various situations that come up, but you don't want to be riding around with a bunch of kit and a 2 month food supply at all times.
I'd recommend putting a few different loadouts together, ready to go and keep them somewhere that they are easily accessible. That way you can just grab a pack quickly as you are going out the door. It can be modular, where you can throw a couple smaller containers specific to one thing in a bigger bag. For example, I've got a Rubbermaid tote in my hall closet with survival food that I can grab if I'm in a "Get the hell outta there!" scenario where I don't know if or when I'll be back. If you're planning on being gone for multiple days, that's when you want to have more extensive inventory like a full shower kit, multiple changes of clothes as opposed to just some deodorant and an extra pair of socks.
It also depends on if other people are involved. I usually have some peanuts and beef jerky or whatever in the truck. This would probably hold me over if I get caught out somewhere for a day or two and am just trying to survive until I get back home. If say, there's a natural disaster and you gotta get the whole family out before the tornado hits, this is where you're going to want everything sorted out and ready to go - not riding around with it at all times.
Keep the perishable stuff to a minimum as far as what you have with you regularly. That's all really the best advice I can give. Moisture is fairly easy to deal with. Those waterproof boxes work great. What I've found to be the biggest issue for long term stuff is actually extreme temperatures. There really isn't a solution to the problem. Parking in a garage helps to an extent and ultimately, where you're located will make it more or less of an issue.

I have two of those big Costco tubs (the ones with the yellow lid) in the trunk of my SUV. I keep everything in there and I can swap them out depending on what I'm doing. In the 1st one I keep car stuff (oil, rags, bottle of water (not to drink), some simple tools, jumper cables, Leatherman); a first aid kit (moleskin is a must, Advil, goldbond, sunscreen) & IFAK; some hygiene stuff (deodorant, baby wipes, bar of soap, toothbrush/paste); some clothes (socks, underwear, windbreaker, my Solomons, and old sneakers), an empty Nalgene and some nuts; and a fire extinguisher and some towels (keeps everything from rattling). And there's room to spare. The other tub I switch out depending on what I'm doing, on a day to day basis it has some extra clothes and refrigerated grocery tote.
If I'm gonna go shooting or traveling/road trip I'll switch out the 2nd tub and I'll pack accordingly. I'll usually throw some underwear on top and a towel and it looks like I just live in my car.

Try shocking asap after bite, with a stun gun. It will hurt & shock the tar out of you, but works miracles.

I disagree, I think a full build/load out video is needed. And to get a better view of whole picture of system. FYI, (by "FJ" do you mean cruiser, or a actual Land Cruiser?) Usually it's an issue that it has to do with how many miles, or is how many decades old it is...

Fire the audio "Engineer." UA-cam is stereo, there is no center channel for 80% + of the dialogue and there are no multiple surround channels for music, sound effects and ambient noises.

Who is this taller, thin spokesperson/constant-leader, intro-guy?
He seems like he is the producer, and less genuine/interested, and not down with the sickness, or overeducated, and "lost in transit", or fake....
Is he the producer of the video or something, and only does this for the camera (minimalist with his interest in these subjects)...
and has about minimal-knowledge, but tries to ninja the topics, like a BS'er that is management in Corp. America, forced to manage a Team he was simply assigned to?

Brother, why would you pop that spider bite? Seriously brain dead move like a lot more iv seen on this channel. Keeping it dressed with antibacterial ointment and an adhesive bandage would have been a way smarter option until a higher level of care was available.

Even worse. That was an abscess, not a spider bite. You're not supposed to pop large abscesses. That could lead to the vile shit in the abscess to get back into the bloodstream.

We have traveled all over the U.S. along with Africa and other countries and I have never packed anything tactical or gun related. In all the travels or even in life I have never had anything happen that I felt uncomfortable or needed a firearm. Do I have guns, yes, do I take a gun when traveling, rarely. I think it’s good to be prepared for a flat tire or maybe the car breaks down, which it shouldn’t if you take care of it, but to have night vision or tactical gear is just ridiculous.

I’ve never gotten into an accident but i still wear my seatbelt. House never got broken into but i still lock the doors. Never got struck by a car when crossing the street but i still look both ways. Never been in a situation where i needed to use my conceal carry. Since nothing bad has happened so far, maybe ill just stop doing things that could keep me safe.

That gadget for a hotel room you mentioned is so questionable, what kind of hotels do you stay in. It is starting to sound like you either like staying in bad places so you get to use your gear or you are poor and can’t stay in nice hotels.
