I’m enjoying the coloured pencil class very much. I heeded all your warnings about posture, taking a break to stretch and all that and still ended up with a sore butt of all things because I chose to do the paintings at my dining room table on a hard chair instead of at my desk with the nice padded chair 😂 Lesson learned, and I’ll continue at my desk or move to the couch if I want to be social 😁Have a great week Lindsay and everyone… and don’t make art a pain in the a$$ 😆
I treasure my Sennelier watercolor tubes I bought at a shop in France. Such a wonderful memory. Stationery shops are fertile ground for inks and supplies as well. The French population appreciates a good art supply as much as we do!!
If you haven’t gotten the Color Pencil class you MUST! I’ve learned so much already in the first few classes. I’ve been telling everyone I know about it.Oh that brush holder!!! I am already going to Dollar Tree cuz the Deal Guy showed these cool stacking shelves for under the sink! I trust your reviews and even the older reviews. I purchased Paul Rubens from a year old review b/c it matched what I was looking for as opposed to the 5th gen out now. LIVE STREAM LIVE STREAM LIVE STREAM YES!!!!!!!Happy Saturday everyone.
I love your honesty and being so real! I don’t like the cold weather either, and agree that you need to get outside as much as possible in the summer! The art work that’s on your desk is fantastic! Happy Mother’s Day to you!🤗
I bought the alcohol marker class on sale and wasn’t able to get to it for over a year but when I was finally ready to use it , it was there waiting for me. Best of all I can refer back to it whenever I want and I purchased it when it was on sale. I am an adult colorer and am seriously considering getting this colored pencil class too. Extremely informative and helpful and it’s ALWAYS there when ever I need it.
Grab it now, the coupon code is actually still active til the end of the month (because I created the code before I decided to end the sale on the 14th 😆)
Dollar 🌳 is on my to do list today!! I'm finally gonna get some of those non-shrinkflation magnetic clips, hehe. And now - the cleaned brush holder, yay! That thing looks great - ty! 💕
I just started watching your channel, and I just love your Sat Chats!! along with the rest of your content! I have been going back to see your previous content, and I really am enjoying it so much. Just wanted to let you know. Thanks for all you contribute to the world of art! It's so helpful and educational for late bloomers like myself. So, so appreciated!
Hi Lindsay, thanks for this weeks Sat Chat. I love watching your podcasts, I haven't watched todays yet. I totally understand about not committing to extra things in the summer. Enjoy your summer and relax a little, you definitely deserve a break. 🙂
Wishing you a fabulous trip to France. I can’t wait for show and tell when you return. I am sure you will find some treasures. BT- I am always amazed at how unbelievably fast your hair grow 🥰
Thanks Lindsay. I would do that nuts and bolts in watercolor. I love to make cards and it would be a fun one to give to some of the men in my family. Can’t wait for the Michael’s class too. I love your pod casts. So interesting to hear from other artists. And supplies! I am trying to use what I have and not run,out to get everything everyone talks about! For me it’s a lack of confidence and thinking if I get what they have I’ll improve which is not the way to think of it! Having a regular schedule of working and painting is what I need! Thanks for listening.
I'm taking the colored pencil class as well. Super excited about getting to the "richness" to add to my watercolor paintings and oil pastels. Your art is amazing! Thanks Lindsay!
So excited to see you make cards again! Watercolor tutorials is not my jam. I have no talent but still love watching you. Regarding asking what to post…don’t pay attention to what people say, but take notice of what they do. That is…look at the actual views. I personally love Sat Chats reviews and card making But as always, be true to yourself and continue to do what you love. Thanks for all you do 😃
Good morning all! I am watching from the hospital. I am getting better and will go home today.. ! Thanks Lindsay for the Sat chat ! It’s very fun as always! I signed up for the coloured pencil class. I can see all the work you put into it and that it’s very comprehensive. Take care all have a wonderful weekend!
Lindsay, I am so glad to hear that you will be taking some time off from some work items and enjoying yourself this summer with your daughter. Take care of "you"!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for all that you give!!!!!!!!! XXX Sondra Borrie
Hi Lindsay, I watch all of your videos and love the bolts in watercolor idea. Would definitely watch it. Would be a great gift for Father’s Day on a card or even framed.😅
Did you say you're off to France on the 12th? That's just a week away!! Are you all ready to go? You must be excited/nervous/happy/scared etc all rolled into one. There's always so much to do just before a big trip. You are without a doubt the busiest person I know between all your classes and videos and podcasts etc. I don't know how you do it all and manage to keep a smile on your face. Anyway, you have a lot to look forward to and I hope you love every minute of it!
Happy Saturday Lindsay! First, I don't know how on earth I will ever know the day of the week without SatChat while you are gone! I bet you guys are going to have THE BEST time in France! Second, oh my gosh, that seascape you had displayed behind you...that is gorgeous! I could almost hear the waves 🙂 I am regressing...meaning the more I try to paint the worse I get. It's honestly like I've never seen a watercolor brush, lol. I hope you have a wonderful week and don't have too much stress prepping for your trip (you know how you are hahaha!).
Loving the color pencil class , it will make me finish up my other class. I was getting burnt out on trying to figure out what to watercolor. A great motivation.
Hullo Lindsay, I watch SatChat knowing that you are going to be talking about a cornucopia of topics! I often struggle with buying brushes and brush sets. I truly believe that I would not use them, yet ideal Michael has lofty goals of teaching live classes again and keeping supplies available to do that can be expensive. I need to concentrate on creating art in my own ideas lists! I must have 7 or more pictures down on paper ready for painting! I have a new group of projects for soft pastels on paper as I still feel like a newbie in that medium! I love the idea of the bolts and watching your livestream! I often have trouble getting to work while watching live events as I work much more slowly than others. You are truly inspirational and rather good at doing while explaining yourself as you work! Most of us who have done it are envious of your expertise and the ease of your delivery. I hope you do go forward with your plans for creating live events and real time classes! Happy Trails to you and your beau! Remember to enjoy your time in France 🇫🇷
I would love to see the bolts in water color since that's my preferred medium. I used to say colored pencils were my least favorite supply, but after starting your new class I'm loving colored pencils also!
Such a good review! I feel the same way, I played with my good colored pencils on one project and I HATED them, so slow. Maybe I should get Lindsay’s class and give them another try.
You deserve whatever time off you need! Especially time with family and kids that later on won’t have as much time when they fill their lives with their careers and their own families. You go for it!👍🏻
YES YES YES livestream of the bolts in watercolor!!!! Have I been mis pronouncing the word sepia for my whole life?? I have heard you pronounce it two ways....I thought it was pronounced seeee pia. Oh well....that's me, I guess!! Thanks Lindsay!
Thanks Lindsay about the R&L paint, yes I saw the fan pallet and another video review that compared R&L tube paints vs the fan pallet, they were in agreement with you. Thanks again for everything. God bless you. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Good morning! Thanks for sharing the dollar store stuff. I need some magnetic clips so I can make that thingy so I think I'll head over there today. Our summers are short here in Canada too so I totally understand.
Hi Lindsey , I never miss a sat chat, and yes I love and watch 99% of your videos. Yes I will watch and try the screw video should you decide to do and post. One should dial back and recoup , don’t let yourself get burnout, we love your Art too much to not have you on screen doing different medias.
I would love the bolt tutorial in watercolor! I purchased your colored pencil course right after you announced it- haven’t started it yet…. Next week is when my time opens up so I can enjoy it. Quick note to others who bought the course or who want the supplies for the course: most everything that you listed from Blick are on sale right now- great deals! I saved almost 50% overall. 😉👍🏼 Oh how I wish I were going to France too!!!
We will miss you while you are gone. Don't worry about checking in, enjoy your special wonderful experience. So glad you pencil class is going well. You put so much in to it. Here in MN I am anxiously awaiting 75 or higher. That is my sweet spot 75-80 with sun. It has been rainy and cool here. I am thankful for the rain, but it is not inspiring me to get out in my gardens. Also it has been so windy which I just hate.
7:10 I'm watching this a second time cause I fell asleep watching it the first time (was up til 3 am so you're not the reason 🙃 😂) and started dreaming about being in a vendors mall with my step mom and running unto you and talking about dejavu art.... now I know why 🤣
Good afternoon! I am coming up for air from a few weeks of craziness! :) Working on some new things and I have finally found my focus. I had your podcasts on in the background and I think I have heard most of them and enjoy learning more about fellow creators. I also love your new class, and I hope to take tomorrow to browse through it a little bit more. Love hearing of your upcoming adventure. It is going to be amazing! Have a great week!
Have a wonderful trip, Lindsay! Absolutely dial back for the summer. Winters are too long and dreary. (I used to travel often to Bar Harbor in the winter for business. After a week, i would be so glad to leave. Between the cold, the very short days and being so far east that the sun set earlier, even being in such a beautiful place, got depressing fast.) You have to enjoy as many the good summer days as possible. Especially with your children, they will grow up too fast. (But you know that!)
My prayer for you and Jason on your once in a lifetime trip is for the Lord Jesus Christ to keep you both safe and protected from beginning to ending of your travels. So happy for you as an art instructor and both of you as a couple to have gotten this chance to enjoy beautiful weather in a beautiful place. I'll be checking in on your blog posts quite often. God bless you and protect you both. Sincerely Becky B
I love large binder clips as a way to hold a towel around me. It's my favorite silly 'life hack'. Wrap a towel (bath sheets are the best!) around you, fold a little bit of the outer towel over the inner towel at the center of your chest, put a binder clip there, fold down the silver bits, then tuck the remainder of the towel that's left to hide the binder clip. Holds like a dream.
Yep, I'd watch you paint the bolts. I watch all your videos, though I don't always comment. Great Sat Chat. Your trip to France is coming soon. Have fun!!
I would absolutely watch a live stream of you painting the bolts unless it was in the middle of the night for me (as I’m five hours ahead of you). The marker version looks great!
You know, a great Art Chat that would appeal to a wider audience would be you and Sarah Burns talking about how the winner season affects you and your methods of coping with it and staying happy. She also talks about the winter effect on her spirits and Scotland had even shorter days. I think a chat about how creatives cope with winter darkness would appeal to all creative genres, beyond watercolor and gouache.
As to binder clips, in the office supply aisle, Walmart sells a box of multicolored ones in various sizes that have color-matched rubber coating on the extended metal parts. It's just the slightest bit sticky, which gives them a good, strong grip, yet being softer, they're gentler on your paper. They're also just easier to handle, being less slippery. I'm less likely to drop them or get frustrated with them.
The bolt live stream sounds great! The beachy scene is really pretty, too. Maybe I can actually get Zoom to work on my new laptop. The brush holder seems like it would come in handy, too. Definitely spend time with your kids when you can. Have a great week and thanks for another great Sat Chat.
Having breakfast and relaxing to this video while I think about what creative projects I tackle today! :) Yesterday I noticed with shock that I had not seen your videos on my page for probably MONTHS! So I made sure to put that notification bell on "all" now. Guys - if you wanna see the content, do the same. UA-cam has been hiding it for me. :(
I keep saying that I’m not going to buy more watercolor or markers but Kuretake released a “granulating” watercolor set and well, I adore everything gansai tambi that they have released so 😍 I can’t wait to try them and would love to see what you would make with them if you got them
I bought a 4 pack of those fountain brush pens 16:55 about 6 years ago. They’re great, but just a word of caution, if mold or algae grows in the ink reservoir (it shouldn’t, it’s all my own fault 😢), it’s really hard to clean. You can disassemble it, but it’s incredibly hard to do so, and the pen will never be the same. They should not grow anything weird if you’re good and not like me, who was careless and used tap water to fill the ink reservoir. 😓 Ahaha, don’t be like me. Btw, I adore the Pentel pocket brush, haven’t found a refillable ink converter for it though. But just rinse out the one time use ink cartridge that comes with it and you can use your own inks! Beware of some pigment inks though, the pigment inks used for technical pens will clog the brush nibs. (Ask me how I know. 😭) Happily, even after mine was clogged by the pigment ink, I was able to use a mixture of ammonia, water and dish soap to wash out most of the clog. That sad pocket brush now uses dye based fountain pen ink only. My brush pens have seen some things. 🤣 Yes, I would love to see the bolts done in watercolor, as a LIVESTREAM or otherwise, though I probably cannot catch the LIVESTREAM live. :(
I'm a no for the bolts although I liked your project. It's 87 here this afternoon, Florida is on preheat right now so we wont be going out too much longer here. Our grass is already brown from lack of rain and the a/c is on all the time for at least 2 weeks now. I understand your need for your outside summer break from winter. Make the most of it and I hope you have lovely weather in France. Excited about your ucoming card video. I do al my paintings and collage small and make into cards or put in my art journal. Looking forward to the ocean Derwent Michaels class to. Have a great week.
I signed up for your colored pencil class. Haven’t gotten to start it yet. Spring has been busy. Have to do some planting today. If I had to go to a deserted island & take one art medium with me it would be colored pencils. I really enjoy colored pencils.
definately take the summer off. It is short and sweet here in MN as well and I want to be outside getting some vitamin D and working in my gardens. It goes way too fast.
I signed up for the colored pencil class the minute you posted it, even though I can’t take it right away. I know it’s going to be amazing and I appreciate that you give us a good deal because we follow you! I hope you have a fantastic time teaching in France! I probably won’t watch a livestream of the bolts in watercolor, not because it wouldn’t be cool to see, just time, so I tried to really think before I answered because my first reaction was YES! I would watch the replay at some point, but I probably wouldn’t catch it live. I am excited to see you do some marker stuff because it seems like it’s been awhile. I love my alcohol markers and I enjoy seeing them used for something other than coloring stamped images for cards! Don’t feel you need to justify your summer schedule, if you enjoy getting out and being with your kids, that should be part of the joy of being self employed, that you can adjust your schedule to do those things. Side note, I’m really glad you’re focusing on favorites this year, and especially “legacy brands”. I’m am so sick of the cheap crap that is all over the place. It’s overwhelming, the quality and pricing constantly change and it causes pretty much all of us, myself included, to just buy when we shouldn’t and don’t need to. I’d much rather have less of a quality product, or save up for something I will actually use and enjoy, than have a set of 500 of (fill in the blank) that I hate but keep because I feel guilty because I bought it! I’m plan to do a major destash and get rid of the things I simply know aren’t good or weren’t my thing. Plus, whenever you recommend something, it disappears or the price jumps (not your fault it’s the way Amazon works)! I bought QOR pallets, but none of them were available on Amazon at anywhere near what you had paid, I wound up getting them at Blick for $32.99, which was still a decent price, but you know what I mean. That’s my long winded way of saying I’d rather you show us stuff that might cost more but that is going to be available, and as you said in your video, we can buy one of open stock if we can’t afford or don’t want a set. We have ALL gotten into this terrible more is better mindset. Okay, stepping off my soapbox now 🤪😂🤣. Have a great weekend and thank you for another fun Sat chat.🥰
Great Sat chat Lindsay. Always a nice way to start my Saturday. Love your lives, would enjoy more. Excited for your trip to France. Have you continued your French lessons? Have a wonderful day!
I bought those quill brushes from Grabie awhile ago and love them! I think you need to take the summer off for the podcasts. You don’t want to burn out. Honestly I don’t understand how you get everything you do….done. Take care of yourself. ❤️💕
I will use watercolor and watercolor paper. Maybe few colored pencils. Possibly a fine liner. If you have granulating watercolors in like deep blues, Grey's and purples ot would be pretty for the shadows. I did a while blog post and video on finding the colors that granulate in your stash as well. ua-cam.com/video/Sf_UlCnuA74/v-deo.htmlsi=7LK1XtOa2Pr1Fri7
Yes on the nuts and bolts! Don’t forget to pack your fountain pens in zip lock because the pressure on the plane might make them leak, ask me how I know :)
YES TO THE LIVESTREAM 🥳 Happy Saturday chatterday 🥰 Oh you know I will watch the heck out of that live stream. 💕 Have a wonderful weekend Lindsay and everyone in the chat 🤗💕
I’m enjoying the coloured pencil class very much. I am thankful for the rain, but it is not inspiring me to get out in my gardens. Also it has been so windy which I just hate.
It's been a windy year!
Loving your class! I would be very interested in a guoche and watercolor pencil class series as well! Love all you videos so much ❤️
Great suggestion!
7:10 I'm watching this a second time cause I fell asleep watching it the first time (was up til 3 am so you're not the reason 🙃 😂) and started dreaming about being in a vendors mall with my step mom and running unto you and talking about dejavu art.... now I know why 🤣
😆
Wow, Lindsay...I don't see how you get everything done that you have going. You must have a tremendous energy level. Good for you! Make it happen 👍
I'm a bit of a workaholic 😆
Good afternoon! I am coming up for air from a few weeks of craziness! :) Working on some new things and I have finally found my focus. I had your podcasts on in the background and I think I have heard most of them and enjoy learning more about fellow creators. I also love your new class, and I hope to take tomorrow to browse through it a little bit more. Love hearing of your upcoming adventure. It is going to be amazing! Have a great week!
Thanks. You too!
I would watch your bolt watercolour livestream. Just signed up for the coloured pencil class! Very excited! ❤️
Yay, thank you!
And yes to the bolts! I'll watch... May not paint, but I love your work.
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you so much:)
I would love live on painting nuts and bolts.
Enjoy France, the spring is getting warmer and warmer here in Europe.
Yay!
Great Sat chat today Lindsay. I finally got my supplies for the pencil drawing class so I’m excited to start that!!
Wonderful!
Great tip!
Hi, Lindsay. Thank you for your video. ❤
You are so welcome!
I would watch you paint those bolts! Great project! I am waiting patiently for your collection to be released on Craftstash! ❤❤❤
Oh thank you!
Yes on watercolor bolts 🙏
Noted!
And I just signed up for your new class! Thanks for the discount!
Yay, thanks!
Yep, I'd watch you paint the bolts. I watch all your videos, though I don't always comment.
Great Sat Chat. Your trip to France is coming soon. Have fun!!
Thanks Jim!
I would absolutely watch a live stream of you painting the bolts unless it was in the middle of the night for me (as I’m five hours ahead of you). The marker version looks great!
Yes for the Bolts drawing and colouring
You know, a great Art Chat that would appeal to a wider audience would be you and Sarah Burns talking about how the winner season affects you and your methods of coping with it and staying happy. She also talks about the winter effect on her spirits and Scotland had even shorter days. I think a chat about how creatives cope with winter darkness would appeal to all creative genres, beyond watercolor and gouache.
Good idea!
Thanks for the tip!
I can’t wait to get started on the colored pencil class!
Yay! Enjoy!
Don't apologize for having a recognizable style! That's your artist handwriting! 🫖
Thanks:)
The bolt live stream sounds great! The beachy scene is really pretty, too. Maybe I can actually get Zoom to work on my new laptop. The brush holder seems like it would come in handy, too. Definitely spend time with your kids when you can. Have a great week and thanks for another great Sat Chat.
You're welcome 😊
Having breakfast and relaxing to this video while I think about what creative projects I tackle today! :) Yesterday I noticed with shock that I had not seen your videos on my page for probably MONTHS! So I made sure to put that notification bell on "all" now. Guys - if you wanna see the content, do the same. UA-cam has been hiding it for me. :(
I don’t miss a single Lindsay! All videos are gold.
Thanks for finding me again!
I keep saying that I’m not going to buy more watercolor or markers but Kuretake released a “granulating” watercolor set and well, I adore everything gansai tambi that they have released so 😍 I can’t wait to try them and would love to see what you would make with them if you got them
I saw that, I am resisting for now:) I hope you like them!
Thanks Lindsay, have an awesome week!
You too!!
It’s getting so close to your trip. Have a great time while in France.
Thanks! One more week!
Yes, I would love to see the bolts done in watercolor, as a LIVESTREAM or otherwise, though I probably cannot catch the LIVESTREAM live. :(
Good to know!
Indeed! Watercolor bolts, that is! Thank you in advance.
You are so welcome!
Wow, I'm still running the space heater in my studio! Stay cool!
I signed up for your colored pencil class. Haven’t gotten to start it yet. Spring has been busy. Have to do some planting today. If I had to go to a deserted island & take one art medium with me it would be colored pencils. I really enjoy colored pencils.
Wonderful!
definately take the summer off. It is short and sweet here in MN as well and I want to be outside getting some vitamin D and working in my gardens. It goes way too fast.
Sounds great!
Looking forward to a video from art supplies shop in France...one can dream.
We'll see!
Great point!
Great Sat chat Lindsay. Always a nice way to start my Saturday. Love your lives, would enjoy more. Excited for your trip to France. Have you continued your French lessons? Have a wonderful day!
A bit but not as much as I liked.
The bolts look cool. Would love a livestream to watercolor them with you.
That would be cool!
Yes, id love to do watercolor bolts with you live.
Sounds good!
I bought those quill brushes from Grabie awhile ago and love them! I think you need to take the summer off for the podcasts. You don’t want to burn out. Honestly I don’t understand how you get everything you do….done. Take care of yourself. ❤️💕
Great idea!!
Leaving on MothersDay! So I will wish you a happy Mother’s Day now!
Thank you! You too!
Yes on the bolts in watercolor. I would love to have an idea of the supplies you will use ahead of time to paint along. If that is at all possible.
Omg same 😂😢 just warned her as well ask me how I know 😅😅
YES TO THE LIVESTREAM 🥳
Happy Saturday chatterday 🥰
Oh you know I will watch the heck out of that live stream. 💕
Have a wonderful weekend Lindsay and everyone in the chat 🤗💕
Thanks for the tip!
You too!
Lindsay I would love to see the nuts and bolts in gouache….watercolor would be good too.😊
Noted!
Looking forward to your Craft Stash release!
Me too!!
Yes! Still life of bolts, loose hardware, and/or tools. :-)
Right on
I'd love to watch the watercolor live-stream, though timezone-wise I can't say for sure if I can watch it live. Replay crew for sure. :)
Sounds good!
