Does the RLPA really think fans think player interviews etc are really vital or even important. They are just side line entertainment that often is repetitive and boring so who really cares? Players also get paid for interviews etc so it may actually hurt their own pockets. Players do have short careers as players but hey there are other forms of employment after they retire from playing it is not the end of their working life. Having been self employed in business for decades and I admit only from the outside looking in I do not see Newton as a great negotiator more of an amateur struggling. This Lady is quite well spoken but Clint newton… hard to believe anything he says has substance. When asked about the coaches ‘that’s not my job’ this has been going on for 20 months and he could barely given answer. Seems like a bloke who focuses entirely on his job description and doesn’t really take into consideration other factors and other points of views. ‘Can you provide more examples’ then he proceeds to mention something he’s already mentioned. Then in the space of 1 sentence, Tom burgess sheds more highlight and gives fans a better understanding of some of things going than Clint has does in the entire 20 months.

It is a new time. Time to disconnect with the old mindset and old ways of doing things, with a new competition that is owned by the fans, community and the players. Like if you think they the RLPA should start a new competition that is fairer and more aligned to the values of the players, fans and what is right!?
They literally do, that's the gripe. Instead of taking it out of who makes the product. Take the money from those making money just because they had money. 50 50 player revenue split is all they want.

I witnessed Newton walk out of Newcastle and still has a chip on his shoulder about it. The NRL doesn't have unlimited funds and players will be earning a minimum of 150k. This will kill grass roots rugby league and possibly the game itself
Why are they looking at this, they should be spending their time on overturning that forward pass in Origin 2.
Never a dull day in Rugby League.
Blokes used to play & work for a living, I feel like it was a much better game back then. The Newcastle v Bulldogs game was a good example of what it's become, sour and meaningless. I find more interest in watching 80's & 90 's matches on UA-cam.
RLPA looking professional as always, rocking a hoodie and Khatmadu vest for a press conference. Stay classy RLPA
What a shallow comment. What is said and done is important, not what is worn.
Jeez... so you would only take them seriously if they were all in suit and tie?
You nailed it: what is important is how people dress, not what they are saying..... But some folks are still believing in the power of the halloween costume

I fully support this. Players need a fair go and if the governing bodies won’t offer them a fair deal then they need to make a statement.

Maybe players should go get a real job seriously how many players are struggling I read all the time how players are buying home I'm nearly 50 and can never afford to buy a house, all professions have to pay there own insurances
How many Australians make it into the NRL each year?
Not everyone can do their job thats the difference. Anyone can dig holes and sit in an office. Why do that when you're gifted enough to earn an living playing in the NRL where only 1% make it and they worked their arses off to become part of that 1%.
@davidtaliai996 yes not everyone does it but when the minimum wage is $380,000 just shut up and play
Agree whole-heartingly....but, abit gross to use the NRLW up front to scare advertisers to force them to pay more. They should just pay more regardless..
Have you read the NRL's outline? It's an unbelievable deal with WAY more money being poured into the salary cap and added funds for players welfare, injuries. Basically they'll be looked after for life. The minimum players wage will 150k, that's guys playing in NSW cap being paid more than lawyers, doctors. This is the problem, nobody has looked the NRL's side. They just blindly follow the RLPA with Clint Newton the nutcase in charge
Look at all the nsw players getting payed even when there's no effort

Good on the RLPA 👍

V'landys is miles ahead...will have em for breakfast
it all gets confusing when there's little to no context about the full details they mentioned a few wheres the transparency in its entirety . He mentioned player rights and pay but specifically what? He stated NRL countered with 100 more demands on top yet its hard to contemplate not knowing what these are
"as one of the leaders of the game" turn it up LOL
I read your comment right as he was saying it lol
This is all because the fat cats at the top are making all the money while the players are the ones busting their arses. Go get em boys and girls !

U can still watch them play champ
Will it kill you not seeing them talk after or before a game
So you prefer them to be oppressed, and treated as slaved entertainer for your benefit of lacking the knowing!,....
Don't blame the players!,...
Remember they're son and daughters of supportive parents, uncles aunts, brothers and sisters,...
And any institutions continuing to take advantage of your son or daughter/niece or nephews do you you really take comfort? 🤔...
I dont pay to watch them play. (Well besides internet. Which i have anyways lol)
Streaming prices for the apps are crazy.
Especially if you only want it for league n you have all the other crap lol
You don't understand the Power of a Union.
Wake up!!
The players need to keep fighting for their share and rights in all leagues. NRL especially. Tough sport.
No one cares if the players aren't interviewed. Absolutely nobody.
I certainly would not hire him to negotiate or argue anything for me.
players don’t get paid for interviews mate
@@maddddj4827 Not on match day and some pre game interviews true but they certainly get paid for other appearances which is why they still appear on shows like 360 which shows if it is goign to hurt their pockets they are not really that serious.

Newton would take great joy in watching the game fold in on itself
The nrl has $$$ they can do what they want. Without protections for players going forward around injury, welfare fund, stuff to get them moving forward after the game, why would players want to come into the game professionally in future! All power to the players, it’s what we need as fans!!!
@@Mangoorchy You have absolutely no idea. The new deal has funds for player welfare and injuries. They'll also have a huge pay rise. I heard its been pushed by the Tigers, Dragons and Bulldogs as they have used all of the excuses already for their crap season.
Kerry Chants back.
Players are employed by the clubs and agree to play by what is offered. You can’t agree to this and then complain to a third party union who only serve themselves in the end.

Are you hard at hearing? It’s about transparency. Where & how funds are being used. How player personal data is used a sold without consent . And the list goes on. Watch the video again, than go wash that ketchup stain of your tee shirt

Get rid of those who are being greedy and replace them with those that want to be there. NRL will still have a product without the pure greed by overrated underperforming players.
Do as the athletes in America do!,...
Since they like being influenced by American sports culture and STRIKE!,....
And Don't come back till everyone are happy,... as sad as it is to say, ...players also need to be vigilant on who they hire as their player manager....however STRIKE is adamant!,....

It is a new time. Time to disconnect with the old mindset and old ways of doing things, with a new competition that is owned by the fans, community and the players. Like if you think they the RLPA should start a new competition that is fairer and more aligned to the values of the players, fans and what is right!?
Players are subcontractors pay all your own insurances if your not happy others will always step up and take your place
They literally do, that's the gripe. Instead of taking it out of who makes the product. Take the money from those making money just because they had money. 50 50 player revenue split is all they want.
Get your cheddar boys and gals!
So what are your demands actually?

Australian players don’t want kiwis,Tongans,Samoans, Fijians etc to be paid the same as they do for international representation. How about you stop stacking your nsw origin team with all the poly boys then?
Aussies want the helping hand to turn around and say they done it themselfs when the spotlights on them
If only our Polynesians boycotted the nrl for 1 year then maybe the aussies would see how they’re just players in the game not the be all and end all of the game
Typical greedy players.
These journalist questions at the end are an absolute punish. "I know you have explained it 3x times now but can you please fully explain these private contract talks that you obviously dont want to"
First world problems
Why are they asking the NRL to fund the RLPA the players should fund it. These greedy RLPA executives want more money for themselves, players are already getting a 37% payment increase from the NRL so....
