another fun fact the US M3 half track was produced in the amount of 53k vehicles during the war that was used by the allies all over the world would suggest some 30k were in the ETO at minimum, so the war was over by 1943 looking at production numbers , man i like this channel fits nicely with wargame channels that I follow, pretty cool stuff fer sure on this channel , i like others but your channel is just has all that u could ask for
Nice one, they must have been air-cooled engines - like the postwar Tatra model. These were easy to manufacture and there were less parts, plus for the cold conditions on the eastern front an air-cooled engine was better for front line hardware. 🐞
It's discutable whether the SWS was the "best" German half track. It's main disadvantages were the LOW speed and the HIGH fuel consumption compared to the old halftracks. This was caused by the not lubricated->high friction heavy and wide halftracks.
3:20... "the war situation caused massive delays". That'll be yet another case of the 'ineffective' RAF bombing campaign affecting German weapons output, specifically, the Battle of the Ruhr which greatly disrupted the output of specialised components. Thanks for another great no-nonsense video.
Outstanding video and presentation

As a towing/cargo halftrack it was pretty good.
It was not a "battle taxi" for Panzergrenadiers.
On YT , on RheintalTV, you can see the restauration from such a vehicle. It took 15 years.
Germany made some really interesting machines, ROCO / Herpa Minitanks HO makes some good examples.
I'm afraid I must point out that the "SdKfz 251" at 3:02, is in fact an OT 810.
Please Remember.. "NOTHING NOR NO ONE IS PERFECT. WITH RESPECT MY FRIEND😊
Wheeled vechiles less maintanance but less capable off road
How fast was the SWS, the previous vehicles were comparatively speedy.
