Hey guys, I’m just catching up on the latest videos and wandered if you were planning on doing another raffle for pieces of web-frame with copper nails, laser etched etc? I’m in Australia, so not sure if you’d need more $’s for postage should I win … but I’d be keen on buying a raffle ticket to help out 👍🏼 Not sure if you read new comments on old videos … 🤔 Cheers guys. Keep it up.
When I watch you two on a Saturday in California in the morning my new drinking word is web frame good on both of you the boat thanks you for saving her
Right you Buggers, frightened me to death when I saw the Title "selling the boat." But I would have watched anyway, but you certainly got me there a lot faster; you don't often get a post from me, but I do tick the OK, and I have watched every episode. I am amazed at the time & good work you both have put into the boat. I really do hope you are incredibly proud of yourselves. You have had to face some cruel snipes and discouraging remarks but have steadfastly carried on and all more power to your elbow. I wish I had the money to help with your refurbishment, but sadly I don't. But if goodwill will help, you can have it in barrow loads.Carry on the good work and I hope your raffle sells out. cheers guys
I've been watching your very entertaining videos on UA-cam ever since the beginning when CNN first acknowledged your show. I look forward to watching. Simon and Gemma, you two turn out to be professionals in more ways than one. Thanks for the fun.
Girl watching right now, you just blew the toilet drain, I'm from California. I love your channel. I cant wait to watch you two sailors every week. You are an inspiration to me, to take on seemingly never ending hard jobs. When Sarinda sails the ocean I'll be so happy for you!
I've got a Galaxy 1 phone. But back then it was not known as the Galaxy 1. It was just the Galaxy. Astonishingly, it could record HD (sort of). The lesson from this, is do NOT become preoccupied with future tech and DO embrace any tech which works. Even if that advanced technology involves copper nails!
I would recommend the Sony ZV-1 for what you guys are doing. It's made for vlogging, super easy to operate and any filming gaps you can fill with gopro footage. It also has some accessories to make vlogging easier. If most of my equipment wasn't already Nikon we would have gone with this little guy for our vlogging needs.
Sure do celebrate all the separate achievements! It helps keeping you motivated. The bow area looks great again! Looking forward to the next episode; don’t forget to put up some Christmas decorations; 2022 is almost finished again.. best regards from holland, Adrian
You absolutely should celebrate the completed goal's. You will have a much bigger celebration when the Ship is complete but for now, celebrate the small achievements. As human's we like success and we need to see things coming together so it make us feel better when we accomplish a goal and we should celebrate that accomplishment, for sure!
Just excellent work. It's nice to follow you two, especially Gemma, she is so lovely. Keep up the good work. And once again, this just reminds me, my 17ft boat is NOT a big project 😄
I,m amazed and quite proud for both of you ,,slow and steady you have completed what alot (including me,) thought not likely..just slows what grim(no in Jemma case glee) determination will achieve... cheers
You two brighten up my day, being so positive and still enjoying the hard work. Do keep some of the wood n copper pieces back for when you sail Sarinda, as you will find lots of people will help you out along the way. I had cards made of Lazy Days signal flag code as a thank you card. Thanks for posting and stay safe.
Cameras and equipment. Check out Gone with the Wynns. Jason has a very nice list of the equipment they use. He is or was a professional photographer at one point. He produces some incredible quality episodes.
I’m sooo glad you are not selling, I wouldn’t get my weekly fix of Gemma !!!! Y’all are coming right along with getting it done. I can’t wait to see y’all getting started on the deck. I’m sure Gemma can get it done and Simon can help 🤣. Good luck on raising the funds for the copper nails guys. You both work great together 🌹❤️🇺🇸🙏
12/11/2022 Hello Ship The work area is small but must be done. Goood work. Strange Curves must be copied accurately and you have done a great job replacing difficult members. Good luck and stay safe 3 weeks ago. Don usa
I agree with Gemma, that I’d leave those plywood knees in place until the deck is done. Although the knees are probably unnecessary without the weight and recoil of the original gun above, I suggest that you add a steel gusset to the adjacent web frame. This will make that steel knee much stronger and provide stiffening to the hull in that are.
Great job guys! Although I'm not sure about removing the stiffeners. Who knows for certain you won't want a deck gun in the future? Lol! Keep up the splicing and marlinspike work Gemma, she'll need some fancy work when she's underway.
You guys are the only bit of enjoyment and positivity I get in a week, keep up the great work. Glad you're getting the sponsors coming to your aid now as well, you've had nice and useful kit 😊 Need a laser cleaner for all those paint and metal stripping jobs and a water storage one for the pressure washer *hint* *hint* sponsors
what a great video this week. You got a lot done. Good idea with the raffle, I'll have to get a ticket. wouldn't mind owning a piece of maritime history here in the middle of the country. Couldn't get much further from the sea.
The piece of steel was possibly added to strengthen the hull and motor support as an afterthought. Changing it out with wood should be acceptable and give enough support considering you are not putting any heavy weapons on the boat.
Fantastic episode as always! It’s been a while but back in the day of earlier GoPro’s I always found Runcam to be a very good alternative. Best of luck!
Hi Simon about your cameras we used Dji osmo action 3 for our UA-cam channel we are always in mud and water it is waterproof like the GoPro but much better we don't get any problems with sound overheating or anything of the works first time every time
For the scrap copper, melt it down and and have Tea Spoons made with the Vessel name and number and sell them. I saw this done with other vessels bronze props in a small presentation box with a note on the ships history.
A lathe or beading strip might secure the plastic on deck better than metal strapping methinks. Good progress; whiskey on my shopping list now! Great editing on the nailing shots, I enjoyed that!
I use a camera similar to gopro, it's called the apeman, has a screen, same size and was about a 3rd of the price. Works well will my drones. Love the work you do on sarinda and your campers.
Excellent work Team. Those knees should be strong enough support once you take ply supports out on the Future. Now ya just got to move everything off the other side and same again. Stern should be easier as basically a square box. Keep at it and Carry on. ;0)
With all your old copper. Why don't you make a mould and make your own new nails or contact the nail manufacturer who make them to do it for you. Its publicity for them and you get to use the copper on the boat again. Maybe for another 80 years. Love the video you 2. Looking forward to next week.
Regarding your audio: It's common for folks to record audio separately, or at least as backup audio. You put them back together as part of the editing. Typically, you sync the audio by doing a single hand-clap in front of you on camera. It produces a spike in the audio waveform that's easy to identify and slide back and forth until it matches the clap. Then, of course, that is edited out of the finished product. There are a lot of good, cheap audio recorders out there (Zoom H1 is under $100) which can record for hours and hours. You just leave it running most all day and forget it exists until it's time to use the audio it recorded. You can use the built in mics, or you can plug in the receiver of a wireless mic like a Rode or Saramonic for even more versatility. Hope that helps.
In response to a gopro alternative camera maybe explore dji pocket pro 2 gimbal camera. Dji also make a static camera like a gopro. The pocket pro can follow the action on its own.
I did hear from other UA-camrs (mainly aviation youtubers) that switched to Osmo camera 📷 line and were quite happy but you will have to research what is good for you guys.
I really appreciate the introduction that provides explanation/rough sketch of where we are working in the video. Sorry to hear GoPro problems, seems to be a problem with other videos. Other YT channels have moved on to much more expensive systems that are a financial stretch! Is wonky a new term in England? Please don’t break a leg or fall in the mud. I don’t want a video on National Health care!!!! As usual great audio/video. You folks must spend a lot of unseen time editing each video. I’ll try to get into the auction. Nice prizes. Thx for bringing us along! Ken
Wonky is the name of the seagull featured, as he had a funny leg at one point in the series. 'Wonky' is also a term for something not quite right or straight. It's definaitely English and more probably from Yorkshire. lol
Another brilliant instalment of the restoration. I think your decision to leave those gun mount hanging knees in til you replace the deck is a sound one. Then get rid of them as they are an ugly intrusion into what will be your forward accommodation.
Hi the sony ZF1 is the best on the market. The viewing screen can be rotated so that you can see what your recording. Hope this helps Great channel. Stay safe J

@Georgio80AU hello, the raffle has finished now. But we are working on something very special so keep an eye out on upcoming videos xx
Love it when you both laugh!
Very clever tag line to episode! Momentary jump in blood pressure there 😅
Click bait!
It worked.
I love the picture the boat looks beautiful in that light!!
SPOILER ALERT!!
It’s called click bait very deceiving 🤬
Thanks again for sharing 😊 👍

Again Fantastic job you two. ⚓🤠🇬🇧🌎🇺🇸⚓
You certainly had me with "selling the boat"!
I personally would keep the gun Mount. Timber as it’s quite a strong point on the vessel

Leave the gun mounts as her history 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
It's great to see the amazing progress you have made and the sense of excitment you are both still showing for the project.
Mega impressed, enjoy 'Splicing The Mainbrace', next episode. Bonne chance.
Doin a bloody good job guys... Very educational this build.
You would never believe it unless you watched it as they say 👍🇺🇸
Another great episode full of positivity! The idea to have a raffle for the big 100 is a great idea. Keep it up! 😁
Good idea "selling the boat". Nothing like value adding by flogging off bits of the boat, neat idea.
Great idea with the bits of wood guys & they look absolutely awesome, keep those ideas coming 👍👍
"Selling the boat"... LOL. You got me!! 😉
Only you two could take on this project, You are an awesome team
Sure do celebrate all the separate achievements! It helps keeping you motivated. The bow area looks great again! Looking forward to the next episode; don’t forget to put up some Christmas decorations; 2022 is almost finished again.. best regards from holland, Adrian
It looks so much better forward…
Gemma, of course you are correct.
What clever way to cover cost. Espcialy now!!!!
Youve been framed again and the better work is showing its head in the finished woodwork . Crack on
And thankyou for great Music too! We save in youtube!
that there Jemma is a clever ol stick - like what you done with the bits of timber - such a nice tribute for people to own
I. An almost see your boat from where I live in Connah’s Quay, I have watched you two professionals from the beginnings.well Done to you !!!

Nice goin m8s, keep up the good work. If you like the 9, use the 9,
Hello from Nt Texas and I always love the videos of the work you are putting into that very nice old boat bringing her back to sailing the seas.
Hey fellow North Texan! 👍👍
Thanks
John we really appreciate you support xx
Just excellent work. It's nice to follow you two, especially Gemma, she is so lovely. Keep up the good work. And once again, this just reminds me, my 17ft boat is NOT a big project 😄
Great Progress .

What a lot thought? Speak for yourself, mate.
Nothing but admiration for you guys. Keep up the great work

you both doing a great job!
You two are fantastic I cannot believe what you have done and the progress you have made "WELL DONE"
Thanks for preserving a bit of history. My uncle was based out of England on an American bomber in WW2. My ancestors came from Great Yarmouth in 1854.
It's coming along folks well done 👍⚓
keep the gun mounts its her charm x
Well done, this kind of work takes time steaming bending wood and painting

Another great episode 👍
Regards to wonky
Great video great work both all the best and keep safe both 👍
Well done great job. I agree you won't need those supports on deck head they don't do anything if made from plywood.
nice to see you supporting force wear to
Thanks!
Cheers Dave 🍻
It is so little. I hope there are a LOT that respond in kind. Thanks for taking "us" along on your adventure. Love you guys from New York USA
That bow area would hold the boat my family of four adult size people spent our holiday in last summer.
"I'm good at handling wood", that look hahahaha
Made me laugh to.
Great idea for the Raffle.
Love your videos. One suggestion, more Wonkey the gull footage!
Brilliant idea. Good luck.
It would be nice to keep as much of the boats wartime history as possible as once its gone, its gone forever.
Whisky is good!
The piece of steel was possibly added to strengthen the hull and motor support as an afterthought.
Changing it out with wood should be acceptable and give enough support considering you are not putting any heavy weapons on the boat.

Another thumb nail pic for the ltd edition run of prints 👍
Awesome progress! It’s amazing how far the ship has ‘coom’ as Gemma says. 😁 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hi Simon about your cameras we used Dji osmo action 3 for our UA-cam channel we are always in mud and water it is waterproof like the GoPro but much better we don't get any problems with sound overheating or anything of the works first time every time
LOL on NOT Selling the boat, but parts of the scraps from fixing it. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya
sony or panasonic ( lumix ) cameras expensive but up there with the best of them great vids keep em coming guys

Great progess guys.
Recycle all the copper to put towards the new nail purchase. Show the little scrap trip on the channel. It may not be much but it all helps.
Bedankt
Thank you so much for your support x
You may want to consider making knees to replace the gun supports.
Excellent work Team. Those knees should be strong enough support once you take ply supports out on the Future. Now ya just got to move everything off the other side and same again. Stern should be easier as basically a square box. Keep at it and Carry on. ;0)

👍❤🧡💛👀 You are awesome 😁😀
make your own copper nails....use your waste copper and a sand mould...just a thought
Well done
Getting a boat one bit at a time 😉
My two cents: Keep the gun mounts! Such a cool piece of history, and awesome to show people - it would be a shame to loose these original pieces! :) x

DJI makes great cameras. I love my pocket Osmo.
As I said befor its easier and much, much more cheaper to make your own copper nails than it is to buy them I know you two can do that .
Yeah got me
I’m like oh no they are throwing in the towel
You should know us better! We don't quit! Just watch the latest video, Working in freezing conditions and being sick didn't even slow us down!
In response to a gopro alternative camera maybe explore dji pocket pro 2 gimbal camera. Dji also make a static camera like a gopro. The pocket pro can follow the action on its own.

@@BusyElf I would have said it was curved and properly fitted! Thx for the clarification. Ken
Aldi sells what they call wonky carrots. 🙃🙂
"Wonky" has been going at least as long as I have and I've been going as long as Sarinda.
Use the old gopros the 4 was good and have good vid,s and most importantly they dont go wrong so much.
Another brilliant instalment of the restoration. I think your decision to leave those gun mount hanging knees in til you replace the deck is a sound one. Then get rid of them as they are an ugly intrusion into what will be your forward accommodation.
Brilliant progress. Made up for you to be so near a milestone in this epic project.
Can highly recommend the Panasonic Lumix camera range, have always found them to be high quality but not expensive....
Hi the sony ZF1 is the best on the market. The viewing screen can be rotated so that you can see what your recording. Hope this helps
Great channel. Stay safe J
