Spoiler alert. Explanation from the writer:
"... basically, the cards represent their memories and once you play down the cards, you claim those memories. The irony of the game is that the contestants slowly lose their memories of why they need to go back to life and can only root for the other to win, but because Go Fish is mostly a game of luck, they have no control over that."
