To be honest I think you have steps 1-3 in reverse. The second the old game stops being developed people then want to love it, the new one comes out and people shit on it
COD was on a downslope until MW19 came out. And it was good so people got back into COD. Then activision got super greedy and went back to shitting out a new game every year. Despite the games not having enough time for development cycles. On top of sending out half assed products they aggressively monetize their games. Battle pass, black cell, weapon packs, operator skins. Every single thing is there for trying to get in your wallet AFTER you already spent $70 on buying the game. Now people are over it. MW3 was essentially just DLC. Yet they charged full price. You can only milk your fanbase so much before people get tired of it. Helldivers 2 is only $40 and has an insane amount of more content and fun than the past 3 COD games combined.
Low skill ceiling, not balanced, cheating, Activision rewards people who spend money in the store with preferential KD, they also reward their lucrative streaming contract holders with better latency, better servers, and so on. Call of duty is just like Hollywood. It is dying and no one Seems to want to believe it. Call of duty died around call of duty black ops but none of you wanted to believe it. It became corporate, it became something where they selected, who they wanted to be popular and forced people to pay in order to be, good at the game. Releasing a broken weapon each time that’s only available to be purchased in the store. Regardless of if you grind to get it unlocked, it will still never perform the same way as the one that’s purchased because their algorithm rewards money spent profiles.
I don’t feel bad for yall, cod has been dogshit for awhile nothing but corporate greed and yall keep coping that it will change 😂 only way it changes if you stop supporting the development cycle 🤷🏽
How do you feel about Call of Duty right now?

i don't think this cod is bad but i get what you're saying. I also think the players alone cannot stop corporate greed
