- Following his Win over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 284 Islam Makhachev was accused by Volkanovski's team mate Dan Hooker of using a banned rehydration method, which is IV.
Ali Abdelaziz Islam and Khabib Nurmagomedov 's Manager tweeted denying the allegations but then deleted his tweet, what made Ariel Helwani chime in saying what Ali Abdelaziz did was incriminating.
Later, The australian comission issued a statement saying there was no proof that the UFC lightweight champ islam Makhachev cheated and used IV to rehydrate after his weight cut.
Jeff Novitzky, head of USADA also came out clearing Islam Makhachev's name.
Also in this video, an old interview by Ariel Helwani with Khabib Nurmagomedov showing that the two didn't really have the smoothest of relationships in the past.

Ariel Helwani is a hypocrite who uploaded a video 3 years ago where he gave the fight to Reyes over Jon Jones. He said that the 4th and 5th round count just as much as the earlier rounds. He claimed that you don't get extra points in the championship rounds even when you land a big shot yet he gave credit to Volk for the 5th round and claimed that was the deciding factor for a victory. He then proceeds to contradict himself when it comes to the pride rules. Ariel is biased and he contradicts himself.

Personally I think they’re just being a bunch of crybaby bitches looking for any excuse anybody on the team. Dan should definitely be held accountable for such career destroying accusations. I don’t know why nobody’s seeing the true colors on Alex team including him. Shit I liked the guy too but he’s being a poor sport about this loss which is making me feel different about him. It was such a great fight too. The rematch probably won’t be nothing like the first fight…so everyone should appreciate it and quit crying about who won.

Khabib is right about Helwani. Islam won fair and square in his fight against Volkanovoski. Islam earned the title defense and #1 spot on P4P list after beating Volkanovoski; it was the secondary motivation of the fight outside of primary which was Islam's championship belt.
There is no proof of IV use presented by CKB team, just accusations. The commission(s) do not have any evidence to suspect or prove Islam's use of IV or illicit methods. A classic case of salty, butthurt people who are unable to cope with their loss - some of Australian fans, some of CKB team and especially Dan Hooker.

He won the fight but he is not better than Alex. Alex would have finished him if it was a true fight as Islam was exhausted. This is why Pride FC was so popular with MMA fans. Pride rewarded the better fighter, not the better point fighter as the UFC rules do. Islam won the points, Alex would have won the fight and in Pride FC rules, Alex would be the clear winner. Because the moment islam took volkanovski dawn and secured his back with the body triangle like he did in the first round volk would be struck there until Islam would eventually choke him out .

IV doesnt even speed up hydration. It's like accusing someone of drinking water. It's a non accusation.
I dunno why everyone is talking about USADA. It is the Western Australia Combat Sports rules, and they are different. According to their guidelines, IV infusions and injections are prohibited unless they are administered for medical purposes and the athlete has received prior approval from the commission. If he took an IV without disclosing it in ANY amount in Western Australia he is cheating.
Having said that, a throw away comment from Dan is NOT evidence, and people should have their evidence up front and central when making such claims. I will reserve my judgement until the facts turn up.

Soo from what I remember, IVs weren't allowed around the time after Hendricks became the 170lb champion. He started having weightcut issues because of it. Did they change the policy in 2019? Also doesn't Australia prohibit any use of IV? Ali wasn't correct, there's different standards depending on the place they're fighting.

honestly i understand and agree to a certain degree what Khabib is saying. but Ariel is a journalist, he isn't meant to be loyal aka Biased toward one particular person or group. not only is he a journalist but a real one at that, having gone to university for journalism - and thus upholds the strict written ethical code of Journalistic Integrity. 95% of the MMA media is not aware of this code as they are not Graduates of a Journalism program, and it could be argued they don't share the same obligation as Ariel. what i'll say is this: it seems to me Ariel is just doing his job and i cannot blame him for it, he's always been kind to Khabib and defended Islam in this controvers, however one thing i really didn't like is how he congratulated Conor on his Alcholol and addressed Allaah in the same breath
