Bianca, if you are talking about back to the States, then yes. (Many other countries as well). However, good news, you can easily get a COVID test in many places, pretty inexpensively. Plan this a day or two before your trip back ;)
All you need is a rt pcr test, im on vacation for a month in ecuador and no i didn't get the vaccine nor plan on. But i did have to get a rt pcr test just to prove im negative, it must be done 3 days before you land in Ecuador nothing earlier.
Ecuador is an especial place to travel with some friends and family, because Ecuador has especial places, like the mountains side and the most preattiest beaches.
I live in Ecuador so I obviously love it here. I would add that people visiting Quito should take a trip to Otavalo. They have an incredible market with a great selection of clothes, jewelry, and indigenous art. The prices and selection are much better than what you will find in Quito. This city also seems cleaner, safer and with virtually all restaurants open.
Otavalo has some great things. Thanks @psoltan Google maps: goo.gl/maps/focPybiZRPzSjdrh7 Stop by Lago San Pablo Lake and Condor Park as well! There are many great waterfalls and views of the moutains.
Nice video! We are going to Ecuador in the middle of May for a month. We are doing a Galapagos Islands cruise, the trip from Quito to Cuenca and a stay at a lodge in the Amazon Rainforest outside of Coca (provided the airlines are flying there and back)!
Sounds great! Let me know how it goes, and post photo when your there! -If you looking for flights to Coca (OCC) from Quito (UIO) , I think LATAM is taking once a week right now, on Thursdays. Good Luck ;)
Thanks for the info! We have reservations at Sasha Lodge which is off the Napo River. Fortunately they are handling the flights so hopefully it will work out. We are flying from Portland, OR and Delta has changed our flight at least 3 times. One just has to roll with the changes!!!
Welcome to this beautiful country. The use of mask is mandatory and you have temperature checks to enter most of the establishments. If you take care of yourself you will be safe and enjoy it here.
Check with local authorities. Any many countries it is not allowed, and Europe has started really cracking down on "sand" sales, as people have been taken sand from special beaches and selling online.
Could please let me know, when we go back to USA we also have to do Covid test. Are there any place in Ecuador will give free antigen test or Covid test for free for us citizens. If not are there any cheap places that we can get test before we going back to US ?
Hello @WinterLemons currently, everyone 2 years of age and older are required to submit a negative COVID-19 test for entry (or re-entry) to USA, Including USA citizens. This was implemented Jan. 26th, and the order is due to expire: May 31st. However, most likely this will be extended. Negative test must be 3 calendar days preceding the flight’s departure. I am sure you can readily fine COVID test in major cities, perhaps schedule this 2-3 days before your flight back.
Hi happy living :). Yes, in most Central American and South American countries they will have a small trash can next to all toilets for. However, if you are in a larger hotel or luxury hotel in one of the bigger cities it may not be necessary.
I recently traveled to Galápagos and one suggestion I can make is to take advantage of the current price of cruises. Pre-covid times, cruising would get so expensive. Right now it's a steal, and the best thing about cruises is that they take you to islands not accesible for tourists (unless you go by cruise). Most places in Galapagos are still empty, pre-covid times the crowds would be massive. COVID cases in Galapagos are at its lowest in comparison to the main land. They One extra consideration about Galápagos is how expensive it can be for foreigners, and I don't mean food, taxis or hotels. The fees for locals/foreigners to enter the Galapagos change drastically (even air fare), so you should really try to make a budget, since Galapagos can get pretty expensive pretty fast. Again, I recommend booking a cruise, or even a tour (there's many travel agencies on the Main Street In Santa Cruz). If you want to go on your own, you can use bikes (there's also bike rental, or some hotels have them for free), or taxis. Some taxis will offer to drive you around the island for the entire day and I highly recommend this, as it ends up being cheaper. If you're visiting the first months of the year, please bring an umbrella (hotels have them too), the weather is very unpredictable and even if one side of the island is looking bright and sunny, on the other side it may be raining dogs and cats. They say that the magic of Ecuador lies in its small towns too. I'd be extra careful in this areas since most people don't believe in covid, so if you see someone not wearing their mask, don't think it's because they're vaccinated; it's just because they don't care. I highly recommend visiting small towns on the weekend, since on weekdays you might not find all attractions/shops open. Another suggestion I have is to always try to bargain. Most merchants will try to sell you overpriced products, just because you're a foreigner, so don't always go for the first price they offer you (This is specially true in places like little plazas or artisan markets), of course if there's a price tag you can't bargain. My final suggestion is that if you want to try the best food in Ecuador, then look for the cheapest places. Unlike fine dining in other countries, fine dining here doesn't compare at all to the food you can get in the street for prices that go from $1 (Shocking, I know). Most of this places will cook it in front of you (better than an open kitchen! haha), so it'll be hot and fresh. But don't get me wrong, normal prices or overpriced food can also be really good, but nothing beats street food.
I want to go, but I am not sure if I will need to provide a negative covid test before leaving Ecuador.
