Popping out the blinker was the best
Thank you bro!!
Thank you for your video. Helped me get back into my hood. My problem was the plastic air intake piece that sits above the grills and lets the hood latch go down was kinda broken and the plastic wedged itself to not allow the cable to open
That totally worked for me. I was able to find and reach the L to R crossover cable with an x-long needlenose and got it to pop. Thanks!
1st, YOU ROCK!
I have a BWM 1997 328IC, I needed to access the fuse box to pull the blower fuse,(intermittently not functioning, blowing HOT air from bottom vents), i forgot to put the cover back on, & now my hood is jammed, drivers side is popped up, but passenger side is jammed. I've done all you recommended, except pulling the grill off. This car has 45k and in perfect shape, except for this. I can't find the cord. I have grave health issues, and this is my joy 😂 I searched all over, and you have the most common sense on BMW repair!
Were you able to open it?
On my car a UK model E36. The drivers side had the cable behind the indicator light. Thats the left side not the right side as described in your video. I got my one opened by chance after tugging on the cable. Although it didn't do much on the latches cable but the bonnet opened. I think my failure was caused by incorrectly aligned hinges and a stuck cable latches. The cable was not broken afterall. Thanks for the great vid. It helped alot!! I remember doing this along time ago but needed your vid to remind me again!!!
Oh man, I was skeptical, but popping out the turn signal and just reaching in and tugging on that cable worked so great, thank you very much.
Thanks man my 318ti hood just got stuck and these methods worked. I'm gonna install racing latches to avoid this issue.
Thanks for the video. Has given me some new approaches. Just bought a 325 and it suddenly broke ...so this video has been helpful. Thanks
Respect!!
Great video! If I ever need anymore mechanic help I would definitely check your videos first. You're great.
Thank you I tired all three and that did it
You are a life saver man. Thanks for the video.
Great video . I have a bimmer lid stuck in a barn garage. Excited to try this
I have problems with my 2004 BMW 325i stuck hood idk how to get it open. Can u help me with it?
Hi, i got bmw e36 its got alarm and dead battery, i cant open doors manualy with key, any suggestion what can i do? or just call a locksmith pay him and he will unlock my car withing few sec?
Thanks it was after this video easy .
Underrated video. Literally took 30 seconds. 👏🏿
Got it open fast what a relief thanks
This is brilliant
Nice tip especially since my cable snapped using pliers to long I suppose.
Anywho I have new hood release handle & new(full)assembly any video for installation
Dude.. very informative.👍 thank you
Do you have a video to replace both hood cables? My cable is about to break and I suspect it's near the latch area. Do I really need to get front bumper and nose panel off to get them replaced? Thx
THANK YOU NATHAN! For posting this video. :)
Can you do a video on how to fix one that doesn't close
Bro you just saved my life 😅
That was so so helpful, thanks allot man, cheers
G’day Nathan how are you? Just wondering if this would be the same for a 1998 E46 please?
Now , can you tell me, where to check for vacuum leaks?
My car es driven through a flood that at the time hadn’t messed the car up. But a week later didn’t want to keep running unless I kept giving it gas. Changed a number of parts then ended up being a clogged cat.. now it runs, but I get a code saying there’s a secondary air pump malfunction. Got a new one but still running very choppy. Think there’s a vacuum leak, but can’t find it..
took me four days to get the left latch open, right latch still wont open... left latch took pliers to broken cable from inside the drivers side of car, machete under the hood, pulled on cable after removing grill,, used a knife to slide left side, used handle release from front of car.. I dont know what worked but finally the left side seems to be up a inch or so, now the right one.. could take four more days
Do you have a video showing how to remove the lock latch part that the cables hook onto?
Do you have to remove the radiator to get them out?
I have this problem and thats why i came here.i tried everything he said and it didnt work.popping out the light pulling the cable did nothing.i need to get the wire inside the cable to tug on or something. My hood still stuck luckily its not my daily driver
Thanks buddy
Great selection of e46 videos, helped me out a lot Nathan, thank you 👍
I have a 2000 323ci and have this issue. the cable is completely encased and I cant see it. think im screwed
pulling the center cable will not release the driver side latch. Mine had the worst type of failure where the main cable came disconnected from the driver side latch. i ended up going through the corner light then lightly popping the headlight lense assembly off the adjusters on the headlight bracket and using a pic to disengage the driver side latch. not fun.
any help
I have this type of failure also - '99 323 RHD convertible, so everything is reversed, but the bowden cable has come off the driver's side latch. Pliers through the grille has done nothing. I'm out of ideas really, can you explain what you mean by using a pic?
Martin Grainger - seems like you will wait forever for an answer from this guy that reacts conveniently like a coyote 🐾 some times but mostly acts like a turtoise 🐢 as we'd noticed regarding his answer ⌛
any way, a pick is a hand tool compossed of a metal pick part (it has different shapes depending on the task to be performed), and a plastic handle like a screw driver and it could be squared, triangular or round in shape that came very convenient to pick up certain objects with different shapes for several tasks involving a pull action force or vice versa, to push it 👀
🚗🚔🚘 and it's usually used in the automotive industry for this purpose
and these tools could be usually found on sets of 4 or more per pack from snap on tools, walmart, target, autozone, sears, 0.99 cents stores to harbor freight tools 💬
just google it and youl have your answer right ✅
Dude are you f’n kidding me? You spout off all that bs and you don’t remotely answer the guys question. Are you high on meth? I think we all know what a pick is man.
Hello from Brazil Nathan! Very great video! Could you please make a video showing the location of the F. AUC Sensor on a 328i e36?
The fan sensor is on the side of the radiator
If you live anywhere near Washington or Oregon I will drive to you and see if you can get my hood open on my 1999 328i which is stuck shut
I am in Missouri, have some one pull the handle and. go out and pull up and down on the hood , unless the cable is broken then just follow the video
Thanks for the reply! We ended up popping out the grills and getting a hack saw blade in there and sawing off the bolts and the hood popped. This way took more than 30 seconds, about 20 minutes. Funny thing is that the cable wasn't broken so we are not sure why it was stuck so bad. We put new bolt on one side and stuck again! So we had to saw again and got it unstuck a second . But now afraid to put bolts on and close,,, any thoughts?
That helped me, thank you 👏🌟
You are AWESOME!!!!!
cool video bro 🎥
i have opened several hoods for different cars and models but im not really familiar w/ bms hood locking mechanisms 🔒
actually i have this situation going on w/ a 00 e46, but i don't think is the cable or any internal hardware assy adjacent to the engine bay affecting its overall operation bc the hood will pop out but i couldn't open it for a reason i would describe below 👇
🌜 you wont believe this, but when my friend came last night w/ her car i was able to open the hood in less than 10 seconds in the darkness, but during the day i'd tried w/ no luck at all lol 🎲 💔
in my case, both front grills come out easy w/ not much effort, but the handle that activates the hood latch is missing and the hood pops up but it cannot open bc there's no release handle coming out from the front grill 🚫
i'd watched your videos on this regard but i could't find anywhere a description regarding this situation, do you have any ideas on how to solve it? 👂
thanks in advance 🙏
Helped me with this m3 thanks
only the passenger side of the hood popped when i pulled the latch in the beginning, after trying these things in the video none of the sides will pop open anymore, any ideas?
Adam Garami - seems like after a year or so waiting for an anwer you need to fanally call a locksmith 👀
would this for my 05 e46?
Thanks...
What about 325i 1995
I tried taking everything off and I still couldn’t open it
I also crashed it from the left side so it a little bit dented not dramatically tho
