- I know...this is probably a touchy subject for people and Texans/Californians might not be happy about this... But in this episode we go over why we left California for Texas. The plan is to be here for a few years but we'll see as I've been enjoying it here so far!
We're currently in Dallas and have been here for about 2-3 months now. We packed our bags and moved by doing a 4-day road trip with our belongings. The 24 hour drive wasn't too bad when split up into multiple days!
To be honest, being in Dallas feels similar to the Bay Area, but feels bigger. I guess this is due to how we spend our days - we don't go out that much anyway, and all the places we want to have nearby are here. We're also lucky we have some close friends out here. Watch until the end to hear our thoughts!

Great video once again. Love your channel! I lived in Dallas growing up... a millennia ago. We too were transplants from California (Mojave Desert/Antelope Valley) and Texas was one of my favorite places to live. Subsequently other members of my extended family relocated from the LA area to Dallas years later and they too found it to be a wonderful place to live. You are right, the people there are great, Dallas has everything to offer that any large city can, but with a definite laid back feel and that Texas charm! Hope you continue to enjoy your lives there, settle in, and you too will learn just how much bigger and better things are in Texas - life, hospitality, opportunity, and most of life's joys. Thankfully one of the things that is small (non-existent) are State income taxes! The best to both of you!
We recently moved from San Diego, CA to Fort Worth, TX. We will always love California but we know this was the best move for our family of 5. Currently waiting for our beautiful brand new house to finish being built for $368k 😮
Please learn from political mistakes at the voting booth. DO NOT turn Texas into California 2.0.

Great video! I recently moved away from DFW (Frisco) for work. I do miss the proximity to so many great places to eat. Try to get down to Trinity Groves across the bridge south of downtown. There is an excellent cake shop there called Cake Bar. They even have a "Cake ATM" for after hours sweets, lol. Take care!

It's the first time i visit your channel and i think it's excellent! I started doing online arbitrage at Amazon before the pandemic, I managed to do it for about 2 or 3 months due to an account blocking problem. Time later, i recovered it but I have not sold it again. I see that you have good videos on passive income, and although my English is not very good I will keep a close eye on that information. I moved to Las Vegas (again) and purchased a home 2 years ago before the market blew up! Hope you guys enjoy Texas! I’m ready to leave here already! It really blows just to see the tax hike everywhere except literally Midland Odessa …….. Lubbock literally hit a 40- 65% hike it’s nice to see the growth but man it sucks that everything is growing more and more expensive because of the flow into Texas 😞.

Word of caution to would-be Cali folk moving to Texas. Texas has some of the highest property taxes in the U.S. Tax assessors are playing catch up to factor in the skyrocket climb in prices. Our county latest tax bills were about 30% higher (Mine was about $8K a year from $5,400....my home which is a new build 5BDR/3BTH, 2,800 sq ft and paid $290K in 2020 and is now valued at $505K). The honeymoon for Cali folk moving, getting good deals and living in Texas is over.
I see a lot of comments about the voting. You guys do realize that people move around in life born and raised somewhere doesn’t mean they have to or will stay there. I heard there’s a lot of hate towards people coming from California but if everyone from cali stayed over the years it would be crazier than it is. People move for a change of pace not to change your space so relax Texas. A lot of folks from cali have southern roots either from Texas Louisiana Georgia or Tennessee soooo 🤷🏽♀️

Why don’t you do a video on how Texans are getting tired of outsiders colonizing their state?? Expenses are going up, especially property taxes. You may think it’s affordable now, but it’s gonna get worse economically if people continue to be so dependent on one state. Whatever you do, don’t piss off Texans. Telling people they would like to preserve their values and way of life is not hate. They just want to make sure that starry eyed, naive Californians don't come here to change what they don't want changed, especially, the change that California politics will most inevitably bring. Good or bad, Texans have a right to be concerned just like you do if a lot of people who had opposing values to you came and lived where you're at and change it to something you don't want.

But I can't tell people with opposing views they can't move to my city or state. I moved away from a city once because of the crime rate, I am moving away from California next year because of my political views. Just because I live in California does not make me a liberal. It is my given freedom in this country to move anywhere I want as it is with anyone else in this country who is a citizen. Austin Texas is one of the most liberal cities in the United States, why is there no one speaking out about the people who live there? Why is there no protest for them to move away? I did my research on potential places to live in Texas, Because I did not like the political views in Austin that was immediately marked off my list. I have no right to tell people they should change their views to align with mine.

But they also have the freedom to express their displeasure at people with opposing world views, (not you apparently), coming and changing their state for the worse. Whether Texans have the right to tell people to change their views or not, this is irrelevant. The fact is, when a group of people migrate to a place, they change the politics and culture of that place. This is a problem and it needs to addressed. So, it's better to ruffle some feathers and clearly address the issues than to just be polite and let the left, in ignorance or otherwise, mold Texas in their image. It's not time to be nice since the consequences of Texas changing in this way would be pretty bad. Regarding protests in Austin, they're none because most conservatives have families, kids and jobs so they don't have time to do that. Liberals, at least the ones who protest a lot, often don't care and will protest and pillage regardless of the future consequences to themselves.

The lower cost in Dallas for properties is due to weather(Humidity and heatwaves), natural weather risk( Hurricanes every other year, tornadoes and flooding) and lower wages. And high property taxes. And a lack of governance response especially to woman.
