I haven't watched your before but I liked this video because you're not the typical reviewer, you actually give details and more important advice. Good Job Des!
Thanks so much!
Great and thorough review! I have them as well and I've noticed a TINY bit of latency when using the UA-cam app. It's only noticeable for me when I watch my own content because I spend so much time editing it using a wired system that I can immediately notice the slight delay when using the Jaybird Vistas
Great video. I've subscribed and liked. I have the original Jaybird Runs and have wanted to upgrade. You've answered all my questions. Thank you.
Great review and a well made video! I especially liked the sound comparison to the tarah pro's. The only thing I felt was missing is a comment about the mic quality.
Great review, thanks. Would love to see a comparison with the new Apple Airpod Pro, especially from a run/cycle user.
Great video! First timer. I always find comparisons useful, which really made this review awesome. I am a longtime Jaybird user... but am on the fence with the Vistas... this vid really helped! Thank you!
You’re welcome. Thanks!
I love your videos! Very informative, have a great day!
Wow thanks a bunch!
Great review and looking forward to adding these to my collection
Good stuff!
Really appreciate the explanation in the difference between sweatproof and waterproof. As an avid runner, sweatproof and fit were my top 2 concerns while researching and these knock it out of the park for both. Purchase made.
Once again U nailed a product review! Thanks. Also Thanks 2U I’ve been loving the Jabra Elite Sports 4 the last year. They have definitely worked as you described in one of your previous videos! So, should I change? Can U do a comparison video soon ? Thanks
Good to see a fellow MTBer reviewing tech stuff. You're a natural! Subbed \m/
Thanks!
These look so awesome Des, I think these are gonna go down as the best Bluetooth headphones of 2019 so far. The Powerbeats Pro are a solid second 🙏🏾🤙🏾.
I like the PowerBeats a lot...except for the price 😜 Thanks Joseph!
Great review. Now I just have to decide between these and the Tarah Pro.
More true wireless bud reviews Des! As a cyclist, it's been painfully hard to find really good true wireless bud reviews that address some of the issues particular to cycling. Some reviewers, who are pretty good and decently thorough, do address the water-proofing and to a certain extent fit for activity, but stuff like wind noise, and fit beneath helmet and navigation/controls with gloves/one handed control/voice control, and ambient sound pass-through are all things that most cyclists that want to wear a bud (i don't wear two, only the right one) while riding would be interested in really detailed information about. You do such a good job with all of your reviews (part of the Holy Trinity of Fitness Tech reviewers along with Ray and Shane, at least for my money) that I wouldn't be at all upset with you if you started making wireless bud reviews for fitness a recurring part of your review stream.
right now I'm on the fence about the Jaybird Vistas, the Jabra Elite 75t and the Libratone Track Air+. I want something that is really good for fitness/cycling, but I also want something with good call quality and some decent noise cancelling because if I'm going to invest upwards of $130-$180 on a pair of "headphones", I don't want them to only do one or two things well. I want them to do a lot of things really well and so stuff like call quality, noise cancellation, battery life, comfort (all day wearability?), case size and features (Qi charging) also matter to me.
really like this review though. Got me really on the fence about these vs. Jabra Elite's which seem to really get good ratings across reviewers as well.
did have one other question though...regarding the case for the Vistas and the fact that the usb-c port is essentially open...do you know if JAbra or other 3rd party vendors make a little dust cap for that type of opening? I'd be worried about dust or sweat or rain getting into it during a ride if it was inside my jersey or short pocket, or even my saddle bag.
You can get the Jaybird Vistas here ➡️ geni.us/jaybirdvista
Thanks for watching!
Do you know if comply ear tips will fit being the hooks are now combined ? I use comply tips on my first gen run's and they make sound and fit 100% better
I think you’d have to chop off the tips from the combined ones for that to work. Ideal? No. Feasible? Sure 😉
@@DesFit I sure will try !!!
Just got mine 2 days ago.
Felt very happy with my purchase.
In my own opinion, these are the best truly wireless earbuds so far.
Denielle Asdf how about sound quality?
Great video my guy keep it up !!!
Thanks!
Damn. You test everything. Cheers.
Great video!
Congrats.
Thanks!
Another great video Des! Thank you! Just wondering do they stop the music playing when you remove the buds from your ears like Airpods?
Unfortunately they do not, but thanks!
Great video, Des! Are you planning on reviewing any bone conducting headphones, like those from Aftershocks? I really wanted to get your opinion on this type of technology.
I've used the Aftershocs Titanium. It's interesting to hear music but not have any thing in your ear. That's the nice part. What wasn't nice is the vibration, in order to conduct the sound through bone a lot of vibration is needed and the music never sounds as good as with regular drivers. The vibration to my inner ear made me feel a bit dizzy after a while. Also the battery cant last as long due to the inefficiency of the delivery method. Hope that helps
Great Video. High quality. Could you share the name of the outro song? Thanks !
Great! I can’t wait for Jaybird X5s... hoping for battery life and Bluetooth 5.0 just like the Tarah Pros... BUT with separate ear tips and ear canal tips
At first I wasn’t a fan of the combined ear tip and fins but after losing a few too many tips, I’ve been OK with it ;)
DesFit you’re right. I guess what I really meant is that I want foam in-ear tips. For me, the rubber “on-ear / on-ear canal” tips always repeatedly come loose after the 2km mark on 5km runs :-(
Want them to bring back the x fit I don't like what they have ATM it flaps everywhere. Wish these new jaybird earphones had AAC I had the Tarah pros and the sound was terrible compared to the X3 because they don't have the AAC codec.
Wish they had a wireless charging case and maybe a bit more battery backup in the case. But they're great, might get em
I had the run but I've lost them when was traveling, they were amazing and really compact this is an excellent replacement
Which did you like more? My left earbud on my runs is giving out and I’m tempted to use my warranty. The only thing is the place only has the vista not the run
Useful review!!!
Thanks!
Cleanest review ever
Thanks!
I just bought the xts three days ago good thing for the 2 week return policy.just ordered these
Good thing indeed!
call quality test please ?need to know this before i purchase them as i use them for work and gym ...
great video btw
Just got a pair call quality is very Bad pick up a lot of Backround. Noise
Love the jaybirds, got the Vistas and Tarah pro.
Useful video bit you didn’t talk about how the on-ear buttons compare against the in-line remote on the Tarah Pro - coming from the Tarah Pro, are the controls on the Vista as easy to use while running?
I just returned my 1gen runs and picked up the vistas and they are much better not once have I lost connection (so far) like I did with the first gen. They also feel lighter
Two words: GREAT REVIEW
Thanks!
Nice review. The earbuds itch my ear. So i decided to stick with on or over ear headphones
Wow! Great info. Track management?
Thanks! Would you mind clarifying what you mean by track management?
Is that a cycling helmet over the light in background behaving as light shade...
Kool
Yup! Wanted to do something with some of my old helmets.
I have the Tarah Pro now, one of the things I love about it is how I can keep it around my neck, and have it automatically pause when I do that. Only thing is the silicone of the buttons started to come off and the volume up became unusable.
Desfits great videos does always want me to buy stuff. Order comfirmed 👍👌
Nice! Hope you enjoy them!
I enjoyed both!
Hi nice review! I have a question. How do the Vistas play with garmin forunner 645, can you wear the watch on either wrist?
Hi Des, is the connectivity of the Vista’s with Garmin Fenix watch solid when the watch is worn on either wrist?
Lol love the Jaybird line of headphones! Accidently left my Run XTs in the washer and they're still fine
Nice!
Not first. Lol. These look sweet! Thanks Des!
Ha! 🤙
Nice review- i am searching for a new set of EarBuds since my Bragi Dash Pros (the best earbuds I have ever found) are no longer being made.
same here... my original crowdfunding bragi dash(es?) broke :( can't charge them most of the time and they often lose connection between each other... I just ordered the vistas. let's see if they can live up to the high standards bragi has set.
@@stean3711 let me know how it goes - i am also interested in the Jabra 75t , but will miss all of the features the Bragi Pros had - and no one - i mean no one out there even comes close to what they did.
@@michaelshelnutt1779Here is my impression after two days of daily use including two gym visits and a outdoor run. Let me start off by saying: I guess we have to live with the fact that there is nothing out there that is on the same level with Bragi... At least not feature-wise... But that doesn't mean that the Vistas aren't good ;-)
Compared to the dash, here is what I found
*Positive*:
- Super small case. Nearly half the size of The Dash
- Very stable connection. I did not have any interrupts even when I was walking outside with no walls near to reflect the bluetooth signal. With The Dash, I often had interrupts.
- USB-C is just amazing, I am tempted to recycle all my Micro USB Cables
- Good secure fit and seal. The Vistas seal the ear much like The Dash did
- As DesFit already noted: When tweaked, the sound is quite good and in my opinion is on par with The Dash or even better
*Not so positive*:
- No *true* water proofing: In my opinion probably the greatest weakness. I used to go swimming with The Dash in the pool. Now I have to listen to small children playing in the baby pool.
- No integrated storage / music player: For outdoor runs, I used to only take The Dash with me. Since the connection quality is very stable on the Vistas, at least I can use my phone or my Garmin watch to listen to music when running outdoors. This was previously not possible with The Dash due to the mentioned interrupts...
- No audio pass-through function
- The touch controls on The Dash were much much easier to use. The physical buttons on the Vistas take some time to getting used to. In the beginning, I jammed the Vistas further into my ear canal when I pressed the buttons. I now found that when supported by my thumb, pressing the physical button is quite ok but again usability is nowhere near the touch controls that Bragi used.
I’m still a dedicated foam ear tips user over silicon. With the three tips I wonder if they fit enough ears well enough compared to their old model of pick your own ear tips and wings)
I guess one could modify the included one-piece ear tips (cut off the tip) to use with foams (wings are a necessity for active use)
Yup, definitely could do that to make them work.
Thanks Des, great review. Curious, is there any way to change the settings to allow for ambient audio to pass through or is my only option to take one of the ear buds out?
Thanks! Unfortunately, it does not look like there is an ambient sound option.
Can you make a comparison between Jaybird Vista vs JBL UA True Wireless Flash?
Compare these with the outlier air too!
How is the connectivity with multiple iOS devices? Does it work as good as it works for example Powerbeats pro on iOS with apple’s chip?
Please review powerbeats pro earphones...waiting for your views
You can use either earbud independently. Just click the button on the right or left earbud to choose which one you would like to use.
Can you do a review on the house of Marley liberate air?
Just bought a pair, not bad
👍
i listen to metal ie august burns red, as i lay dying. would those songs need an earbud with good lows?
How is the occlusion effect on these? I read a lot of reports that the Vista amplifies footsteps while running, which causes consistent thumping sounds.
Does it have multipoint?
Good Review
Thanks!
FINALLY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im still on the first gen run's
These should be a huge step up
I had the bose sound sport free true wireless... do u think these would be a good replacement?
Finally a company had done a nice upgrade from the previous year and fixed a lot of issues from the past.
For sure!
i hoped for a mic test when you are on the bike :(
hopefully quickly enter Indonesia..
Will be deciding between these and the Libratone Track Air+. Both have USB-C, Bluetooth 5, nice design, similar price. Libratone also includes ANC though...
Can you make calls on both sides or just the right side? Thanks
How is the fit different? I have the tarah pros and for some reason they just don’t seem to fit my right ear as well as the left, no matter which tip i use. I’ve used Shure headphones forever and was hoping to get that type of fit. How do the vistas compare?
Ive been thinking of getting the Vista,I already have the Tara Pro,s , Im wondering how people find having no wires, when people talk to me at the gym I just let them hang around my neck, with Vista you need to hold them in your hands or stuff them in a pocket.
Thank you for letting us know about being able to use 1 bud at a time and that they each have a microphone!!
Sure thing!
My wife has taken over my Jaybird Run headphones so I'm looking forward to buying these.
These are a big upgrade from the Run headphones, for sure.
@@DesFit I can't wait to buy them. Trying to resist buying them today.
Does it have multipoint? Can't find anything about that on the official site.
You are able to get the case engraved?
Can you give an honest opinion on the call quality?
Nice! I stopped using Jaybirds after X3. (switched to Aftershokz and Jabra Elite Active 65t - but the Jabras started falling out all the time after 6 months use) . Looks like Jaybird are back on their game. What about noise ioslation and pass through sound options?
Ya these have been quite good so far. Noise isolation is quite solid. I do not believe there is a pass through option though. Great to ride with you a couple weeks back, Paul!
@@DesFit yeah. Really enjoyed it too Des! At those open house events I just end up smiling all day!
I have an issue with earbuds cause I sweat so much that they come off. Are these worth trying out?
Your cracked iPhone screen triggers me! ;)
Oh it triggered me when it happened! iPhone XS Max screen replacements are 🤑
I thought I had a hair on my screen... 😂
Do you need a bluetooth 5.0 compatible phone to benefit from this feature of the headphones? Have you tried them at altitude and in the snow and freezing cold?
Thank you for comparing with tarah pro and jaybird Run
Hows the talk or microphone?
I have a question: everyone keeps saying that USB-C is good because I can use only one cable to charge everything. But it's something that I don't understand. The devices haven't a limit for the electric current who came in? For example, in the Jaybird Vistas manual, for example, says it's not recommended charge the case with any charger with a current above 1 Amp. Considering that most of the phones today come with a much stronger power brick than that (usually 4 Amp or more) whats the real advantage? I still will have to carry more than one adapter with me all the time. Or am I wrong?
For someone who loves a good bass in my music, would the app customization make it worthwhile to purchase these?
I think so, however the Tarah Pros or the X4s also have similar sound quality song with the smartphone app if you wanted the wired, wireless variety. All three would be good options for you.
How’s the mic? Wondering if I can use for work.
THorne H call quality is very Bad takeing mine Back to Best Buy
Vista? I will wait for the 10 version 😂
what do you mean 10 version? Jaybird is going to release new true wireless buds?
(Whoosh) it’s a internet explorer reference
Brian Escoto dont know if you were whoosing yourself or whooshing the guy above you, but hope you are joking
@@BulletBE It's actually a Windows OS reference.
How is the latency when watching video?
Might be a silly question, I have a Pixel XL which has bluetooth 4.2. These being 5.0 won't work or pair?
Nothing like that, they will work just fine. Might not be very reliable after crossing the B 4.2 threshold of about 100ft. Everyone tends to have silly questions, no worries :D
Does the box have a magnet?? to open it
How is the call quality between the Tarah Pro and Vista?
Decent no wireless buds sound great but it's loud and clear, easy to hear people
I have a question. Are you able to use both earphones at the same time for calls or it's just one for calls
Yup, you can use both.
Just ordered me a pair with 2yr replacement Waaranty will be here next week. Can't wait to get them. Do they really stay put in the ear and don't shake out?
If I'm road cycling or running or climbing will Vista's really stay in ear...
Because if hammering in saddle or out and moving at fair fast pace, would want earbuds to accidentally fall out...
Same applies to running and especially climbing as there is no recovery if the fall out...
Quite secure. I have run, biked, and climbed with these with no issues, however, the most secure thing will be a wired, wireless (with the cord in between) set of headphones. I haven’t taken a hard whip while rope climbing with these which could make even the most secure headphones fall out. There’s still a place for wired, wireless headphones, for sure 👍
@@DesFit
But ok for cycling & hiking & walking & running so that's good...
Everything but swimming, climbing & skydiving 🙂😎😊
Can you issue Siri commands with these since you can connect to the Apple Watch?
Yup, sure can!
Quick question, got these yesterday, have you noticed any oddities with right/left balance? I was listening while sitting and it seemed like the music drifted from center balance, to slightly more left balance, then back. This happened over the course of s few seconds, and I noticed it happening more as I spent more time listening.
Also noticed this when listening to a UA-cam review video using them, the voice started centered, then began to fade left, then back.
That’s super strange - definitely didn’t hear anything like that.
@@DesFit thanks for the response, must have gotten an off pair. It's noticeable enough, especially after wearing something like the tarah pro that doesn't have this happen, that it's a deal breaker for this particular set.
I am impressed otherwise. Fit is solid and comfortable, sound seems equal to tarah pro, maybe one click quieter overall, and connectivity is solid.
@@DesFit I posted about this issue on the jaybird community page and got a few quick replies of others with the same issue. Must be hit or miss with units but still unfortunate, hopefully they're able to identify and fix the issue with a firmware update for those experiencing it.
do they come with noise cancelation, you know?
I’m still on Run gen 1. Are these just a tiny bit smaller than the Runs?
They're actually quite a bit smaller.
Can you make a call quality test video
Milford Desouza just got a pair call quality is very Bad taking mine back to Best Buy. Everything else is pretty good
Timothy Ayers oh man! That's a huge deal breaker.....
Yes
How are these for use with multiple devices? Can they pair to two at once?
Up to 8 devices.
I dont think simultaneously though.
@Dezfit
Would u recommend the vistas over the tarah pro's. Are they the same as far as comfort factor?
@DesFit
Comfort-wise, the Tarah Pros in the actual ear may be slightly more comfortable since they have a little less volume (in relation to size, not audio level). But the other thing to consider is that the cord, just like pretty much any wired, wireless headphones, pulls just slightly in rougher scenarios. I'd more choose your preference in terms of wired or truly wireless. Both are good.
Well @DesFit the main thing for me is comfort and how good they stay in my ear air the ear tips the same size on both and just so u know I'm not a gym person I'm getting them for every day use mostly at work
So which would u recommend knowing that I bought the pro yesterday and they are comfortable just wondering if it's worth the extra twenty for me to return for the vistas. Only negative for the pros is the I hear the braided cord rubbing on my shirt
@@DesFit what's ur opinion if I'm primarily using them at work . I don't workout so they are not for that. I have the tarah pros but looking to return them for the vistas which would be a extra 20 do u think it would be worth it to get the vistas over the pros. Also one of the main thing I don't like so far with the pros is the braided cable rubbing on shirt which I can hear with headphone in my ears. Comfort in ears is also important
I just received my Jaybird Vistas in Mineral Blue and noticed they don't get as loud as my X4s. I reached out to Jaybird via instagram and said they were shipped out with the European volume standards. They are working on an update to increase the max volume on the Vistas and it should be out soon. Loving the fit of the Vistas so far.
Great info, thanks for sharing!
do they come with noise cancelation, you know?
Des my man. How's the connectivity with a Garmin watch? I've the 945 and would imagine it's much better than the Freedom 2?
I had the original freedoms but not the freedom 2s so I can’t comment on those, but I’ve had good luck with connectivity with the Vistas with pretty much all watches including the 945. In fact, I’ve been using the 945 as my music device while I’ve been testing the Apple Watch Series 5 in standalone mode with Bluetooth off on my phone. How’s the 945 been working for you? The review is in the queue...
@@DesFit that's great to hear buddy. I've had the 945 for over a week now and absolutely love it. Unfortunately I can't run due to a diabetic foot disease. But it's perfect for cycling indoor and outdoor, rowing machine, and indoor swimming. Going to test it for open water swimming in the next few weeks. It's probably overkill for my activities but it's been great managing my diabetes and getting my heart into shape. My only gripe is the price and not including a quick release wristband.
Think I'll get the Vista's after this review and your reply. Just wish I could find a promo code to knock down Portugal's taxes 😆
Looking forward to seeing your review Des.
Can you compare the Vistas to the wf-1000xm3?
The Sony’s aren’t really sport headphones without any water resistance so probably won’t be covering those.
when will fenix 6 be released?
when the 945 video comes out :P
Regarding the controls, I see you can customize volume based on left vs right bud. I also see a way to skip to next track. Is there any way to skip to previous in the custom options?
Is volume control an option with the button customization?
Yes, you can change long press to up and down on volume in the app
@@danielclayton2761 awesome, thanks!
Daniel beat me to it. Yup! @ 3:50 in the video.
