I have relatives there and thus have a strong connection. Furthermore, it's one of my 2 favorite cantons in Switzerland, because there are too many beautiful things to see.
I spent nearly 2 months in Grimentz while in the Swiss military. The skiing area becomes a combat training area in the Spring, when the ski season is over. It was a physically tough (we were hiking up with the whole pack, not taking the cablecar!) but most enjoyable time. And most of all, free time in Gimentz was cherished!

Watching your videos helps me to escape and I pretend that I’m really there in Switzerland. I love to see the village at night When the whole town is lit up with all the beautiful lights. I should have planned better for a trip to Switzerland when I was working n living in Mumbai for 3 years. Instead I went to Himachal Pradesh, north of India, quite lovely too during winter especially in Oberoi Wildflower Hall in Shimla n in Manali, also in Solang Valley. D cost was more or less d same. 😁🇲🇾😁

Hiii. Magandang umaga. This is for sure a very dreamy Xmas village. I am sure, you would enjoy it. Just mind, on 24th and 25th, people might be mostly staying inside the houses. I have no idea though how it is regarding skiing on Christmas day, because I never did it before.
Spent a week in Grimentz in 2002(?). Family ski vacation in February. Stayed in the hotel with the guy who plays his accordion after dinner. My son and I were banging the slopes hard in those days; enjoyed Grimentz and Zinal a lot. Both the pistes and the lovely houses and alleys. Have not been in the val de Anniviers since 2006. Thanks for the inspiration to go back!
Hi Andrew. That's great to hear. I have sadly never been skiing there. I think this is something I really shall try. I definitely can recommend you to come back to Grimentz. Also consider a hike to the Zinal Glacier (2 hours hike). With spikes/crampons, you can access the natural glacier cave. It's a very easy hike. I have never done an activity like that, which required spikes/crampons and it was a piece of cake. Same for my friend who never hikes at all. You will be really enchanted when visiting the cave. Just keep in mind. January and February are the only months the cave can be visited; highly recommended to go on weekdays and avoiding weekends (especially in February)!

I have been to quite a few ski resorts in Switzerland including many times to Zermatt. Your video has opened my eyes. The “Hinterdorf” or old village of Zermatt is tiny compared to Grimentz which you have shown to be quite amazing.

@@DjemoGraphicit does, though it’s never bottled, it’s taken out of the very old black barrels on special occasions, weddings etc. The family’s of the town that have a barrel use the solera system like sherry. They top the barrels up every year with new wine from that’s years grape harvest. The grapes they use are Reze grown in Sierre and then taken in old casks up to Grimentz.

Hi Luisantonio. Thank you very much for your comment. The village is quiet during winter days when everyone is skiing. Its busy around 8-10am and then again around 4pm. Winters can either be warm or cold, thus it can be anything between -10° up to +7°C. I left 2 hotel links in my description. The food is typically valaisan, fondues for sure and saussage platter (Asiette Valaisanne). The hotel Alpina also serves good burgers and swiss french/French cuisine.
Hey Aiman. It really is! As Grimentz has only a few hundred of inhabitants and most houses are only occupied during holiday season, you won't experience a very busy atmosphere up there. During Winter, most of the people are up on the Sorebois for skiing, especially during the day. During the night, everyone stays home of goes for dinner at the restaurants. The likelyhood to see more people is between 8-10 am and from 4-5:30 pm as people go to and return from skiing.
Hi. Until the old mill or the other end of the main alley one can walk. It's really a short distance - 3min from the busstation or car park :) The main alley is totally car-free. Only residents are allowed to pick up or drop goods or people and have then to park the car elsewhere.

Hi Younes. Thank you so much! Indeed, Grimentz is such a paradise. I am however not so sure if your happiness living up there will be lasting for long. It takes quite a while to reach Sierre or Sion. In order to move to Grimentz, you would have to get a job in Switzerland, get a residential/working permit and then even find a house/appartment to rent in Grimentz.

Hi. Yes people live in there. It was quite vively, I just filmed it the way to have less people in my footage. Filming people going in and out of the door would be a little bit invasive. The part during the night shows many lights are on. During the day most people are skiing during this season ;)

Hi Daniel. Thank you for your comment. Yes, these villages, they are all really well preserved. I have filmed the villages mostly in the way to avoid having people in. However, since a few people complained, I have deliberately recorded during the more busy times, that I usually try to avoid :)

Hi Luisantonio. Thank you very much for your comment. The village is quiet during winter days when everyone is skiing. Its busy around 8-10am and then again around 4pm. Winters can either be warm or cold, thus it can be anything between -10° up to +7°C. I left 2 hotel links in my description. The food is typically valaisan, fondues for sure and saussage platter (Asiette Valaisanne). The hotel Alpina also serves good burgers and swiss french/French cuisine.

Hey Aiman. It really is! As Grimentz has only a few hundred of inhabitants and most houses are only occupied during holiday season, you won't experience a very busy atmosphere up there. During Winter, most of the people are up on the Sorebois for skiing, especially during the day. During the night, everyone stays home of goes for dinner at the restaurants. The likelyhood to see more people is between 8-10 am and from 4-5:30 pm as people go to and return from skiing.

Hi. Until the old mill or the other end of the main alley one can walk. It's really a short distance - 3min from the busstation or car park :) The main alley is totally car-free. Only residents are allowed to pick up or drop goods or people and have then to park the car elsewhere.

Hi Younes. Thank you so much! Indeed, Grimentz is such a paradise. I am however not so sure if your happiness living up there will be lasting for long. It takes quite a while to reach Sierre or Sion. In order to move to Grimentz, you would have to get a job in Switzerland, get a residential/working permit and then even find a house/appartment to rent in Grimentz.

Hi. Yes people live in there. It was quite vively, I just filmed it the way to have less people in my footage. Filming people going in and out of the door would be a little bit invasive. The part during the night shows many lights are on. During the day most people are skiing during this season ;)
