The Bull joke: Stanley Kaplan is a test prep center where you study for big standardized tests like the ACT or SAT in the US to get into university.
The father hears that he went there and says "Well then I'm sanguine", which means cheerfully optimistic. But the son didn't know what it meant, showing that he wasn't studying 😂😂

if he was actually studying for the ACT he would have known what that word meant. It was a vocabulary trap.
When we apply to college, we have to submit either our ACT or SAT scores, which are standardized college admissions tests. High school students will take prep courses in hopes of increasing their scores. He was telling his mother he was at one of these prep courses.
