- What happens when you get injured in Egypt? How are the hospitals, the care, the cost? I explain how I ended up in the hospital in Egypt and what my experience was like.

My name's Gisselle, I'm a budget traveler and have been to 6 out of the 7 continents, visiting 20+ countries, living for some time in Sydney, Australia as well as in Saigon, Vietnam. I drive an 18 wheeler, I have Driven in LA, NY, Israel, Jordan, Australia, Beirut, Vietnam, Syria, BUT YOU COULDNT PAY ME TO DRIVE IN CAIRO,,

Driving is now crazy here in Virginia, they drive fast, cross from far left to far right lane to get on the beltway.

Lol, that sounds irresponsible, for the U.S. But I can't imagine Virginia being ANYTHING like here in Egypt, that could never happen 😆 And of course I do drive slower now, this happened last year
@@Gventures First time I went back to Egypt after 20 yrs I was so scared a 2 lane street had 3 lane cars.
Yes, very irresponsible here and forgot to say some of them drive so fast just to get in front of me instead of waiting to go behind me. However, the good thing they drive within the lanes and I beep if a car crosses the lane line 😂
@@nagwaaziz Yeah I must say, traffic in the US and Egypt are not even comparable 😅 I lived in NYC a few years and NYC driving is like child's play compared to Egyptian traffic. From my travels around the world, I would say the closest traffic to Egyptian traffic is the traffic in India, except India has more cows 😆

Welcome to Egypt, when did this happen? Take care of yourself while you are driving your motorcycle, and as you said, always expect the unexpected, especially in high way roads when it's not crowds. I think you are a hero and you will get better quickly and if you need any thing we are here in egypt 105 milion person will take care of you , even if you just ask and always remember gisselle you have a family here in egypt .

Heheh. Yeah it was a pretty deep gash. All healed up and just a scar now though! 😁 And lesson learned, now I drive slower 😅

Omg... I stayed in Cairo for over a week, and I thought, wow, people here have superfast reflexes, I cringed seeing seniors crossing the street, even in our way to el Sokhna our driver almost hit someone who stopped to pick something on the floor, he had the most quick reflexes I ever seeing... Cairo, I was terrified crossing the streets. Anyhow, I hope you heal fast. After the wound is healing, make sure you put some vitamin E to help the scar to fade, speedy recovery! since you're in cairo make sure to visit other urban areas other than the downtown
e.g. the 5th settlement in new cairo & the 6th of October city
Yeah but New Cairo isn't really Cairo....or 6th of October. Those are satellite cities. I have been around Cairo though. Shoubra, Nasr City, etc. I just live close to downtown and have friends that work there so I am in downtown often. But I certainly have gotten around to different areas. I live in Giza and spend my time in different areas in Giza as well

@@Gventures You don't like its old villas and greenery? it also has plenty of superb restaurants and cafes, specially in Degla and Sarayat areas :)
Also the Corniche there is really beautiful.

I am very sorry to hear about this and I am glad you are ok. Please be careful of infection especially in a hot climate. Do you have AC in your home and were you prescribed any antibiotics? I have always thought you to be a very brave lady. I have been driving in Canada for 50 years but don’t ask me to drive in the country of my birth because it ain’t happening. I wish you a full and speedy recovery. God Bless.

Poor Giselle! You were very brave in there. I bet that hurt, your face was very white! I too had a serious mishap in the Middle East. The first (public) hospital I went to was not so good (a bit like you describe). However the second (private) hospital they sent me to saved my life, so I’m not complaining! Very interesting video.
Yes I have been to a private hospital here in Cairo in the past, and it was much better than this one. The emergency situation just led to me going to the nearest hospital which was public 😅 Although not the best facilities, at least the surgeon did his job well, my leg is all healed now! Just scarring. Glad we're both okay! 😁

Thanks! It was partly my fault for going too fast and following too close. But I'm happy I'm okay, no broken bones or anything! 😄 And the surgeon did a good job. But yeah, accidents are never fun

Bzw elmonira hospital is more closer to talaat harb street and there are another better options like elhekma hospital in mounira or misr international hospital in Vinny square in dokki

elhelal is a govrnment owned emergency hospital... very cheap but the surgeons are great .. they have a constant flow of accident victims .... you would have paid at least 10 times as much in another hospital
