- In this video I am shorting the IC CXD2941R from the PSone SCPH-102. Its function is to modulate Digital audio data and messing with it is very interesting. This video is splitted in three parts and shows a compilation of results I've got.

The PS1 startup sound is perfect for corrupting apparently. So much reverb and creepy noises.

@Sylveslied Well I have seen videos of someone actually forcing a bios corruption and I saw that apparently it causes the way the screen looks mainly in color to be different. But that was through software intended to force this to occur

The Truth is: Yes it is Personfied Fear. Fearful Harmony has a melody when it plays about a minute but Personfied Fear has no Melody in the minute.

In a way this is soooooo much better than just corrupting the bios on an emulator, some of the things here are really cool! i wonder what would be possible on other consoles messing around with internal parts.
Wouldnt recommend it, FZERO is very lucky in that this didnt kill their ps1

How to do bios corruptions on a real PSX:
Can it completely wreck your PSOne? (i'm not having one and im not looking forward to mess with it)
Sniping Hero of course. shorting pins on chip can permanently destroy that chip, don't care which chip or console it is. all you need is to know where are voltage on pins and never short these pins with another. data pins shorted will not destroy chip, but voltage pins yes.

next time dude... get a chip pinout and don't short pins which have voltage in/out (maybe you don't damage next console...)
The console wasn't damaged after this. I searched for the chip pinout, but this wasn't easy after all. All I have found was just a summary on a russian site. But this was enough to get some results, even with my method ^^

So you are shorting the IC CXD2941R. That chip job is to modulate digital audio. So how is the picture is affected?
The chip may contain video along with audio, and if it's not that, maybe the chip is connected to video hardware, so it spreads the error between the other chips connected to it.

Hey i have a japanese version (SCPH 103) but I accidentally dropped the screwdriver after holding the buttont that turns on the laser, I dropped the tip of the screwdriver on the circuit near the button itself and the thing sparkled a bit, now the console will not recognize my memory card, the joystick works fine but when I insert the memory card into the slot, the controller stops working but returns after i remove the MC, the vibration also dosnt works anymore, how could it be? which component I messed up with the sparkle? I cant find help on the internet nobody seems to have this similar problem with the slim version , only with the big PSX model
I believe that the PSOne has the exact same board as the PSX but has a different BIOS on it.
