This is not a problem specific to movie theaters. It is a strategy used by numerous business. I suspect you could investigate commercial realtors and even universities and find similar situations
Powerful. Human... business makes people redefine what humane is. Humane is you... the employer and the employee. They bleed, breathe and hurt as you do - Human.
The woman spoke so profoundly about this issue. I hope others follow in her footsteps, though I understand if they don't - their livelihood is at stake and it takes a very brave person to speak out.
The unsung heroes of the ones people don't know that work clean and they need better pay that's why that's why we need they pay more and have more people working in the movie theaters to help clean up and that why I cleaned after myself because this been happening years 😠😢
I work at Regal. Not sure what the other chains do, but i work janitorial at mine. They dont use an outside crew to clean unless its for things like steam cleaning carpets or doing HVAC work that requires licensing.
Actors are just as to blame... why are we paying millions of dollars to people to be famous and make movies but charging crazy prices to see the movies and then paying nothing to the people that contribute like these workers. People cleaning the theaters are a part of the movie industry and should be paid fairly in an industry involved in billions of dollars
This happend to me i , worked from 1am - 7:30 and the subcontractor said he pays $50 dls per shift. It gets me angry that they have people that comes from mexico and they dont know what the minimum wage is
You’re not about to convince me that the actual theaters are ignorant to the inhumane conditions of these workers. They just don’t give a damn - plain and simple.
These people work 370 days a year. The contractors make thousands a month. Contractors hire people like her as contractors not employees, and pay them very little to nothing.
How about instead of letting these useless greedy contractors take out a big chunk of money each time it's subcontracted out, you pay the workers directly. Living wage? not even once. Minimum wage would be $33 today if it grew like Wall Street bonuses have .
you have to pick up all the bits of trash tho. it gets messy under those seats... its not good at all that they had 2 cleaners per auditorium. its called a blow out when they clean over night.
This is modern day slavery :(
You can say that unemployment is low in the US, but if the workers aren’t getting a decent pay for their work, it’s a sham statement.
And to think I'm paying $14 dollars a movie ticket...Shame they're not taking better care of these poor ppl

It's to much for low pay

In Australia you can't even get a janitor to clean for $900 per week
this hurts my heart
