Steal away buddy! 😊 great topic! I am reading, slowly mind you, like 10 series with another 7-8 i would like to start. I am on the crazy side and think switching back and forth between 3-5 is more enjoyable and practical. But that is my opinion. Great video!

Good point switching between them. Never thought of this... Be a good argument for many series. Not bad for a city slicker.

Way to overachieve Kevin!😂 in all seriousness I think that you do a great job from what I can see about balancing the multiple series. I think reading that money series for me might be a bit much but I’m finding myself wanting to read more and more series so I’m sure I’ll be up there with you soon lol thanks for your input sir!

Hey Austin - I was sent here by Kevin Towle Reads and I'm happy to have checked you out.
Great question! I enjoy series, but there is NO way I could keep up with more than one series at a time. I try to read a series and then PERHAPS a standalone book sort of as a "break". If that makes sense.
I'm a new booktuber, so when I see others read five or six books at a time, I just am amazed! I can barely keep up with two! Haha! :)
Glad to be your newest subscriber - Merry Christmas to you and yours, friend! :)

Thanks for subscribing! I just subscribed to your channel and I can’t wait to see the content on there. A couple years ago I only read 1 series at a time and sometimes it can be confusing lol so there’s times now that I’ll read just one series most of the time I try to have 2 or 3 going at one time. Merry Christmas to y’all as well!!

      @@OuterWorldMedia Thanks for subbing! :)
Yes, and if a series has 1000s of names I'm supposed to remember, I'm of the attitude: "Okay...I'm outta here." LOL!

@ that’s how I approach some series specifically (wheel of time, a song of ice and fire) I have them on my TBR but I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to them lol I saw that you have some stormlight archives videos. I’m very interested in checking those out as I’ve been wanting to read that series for a few years now.

@@OuterWorldMedia Yes, I'd love to hear your thoughts after you read them. I tried Mistborn but couldn't get into it so I was hesitant with the Stormlight Archives but have been really enjoying them. I just wish I was caught up because it's heck trying to avoid spoilers! LOL.

One of the reasons I don't read much fantasy is because they always seem to be part of a big series. I actually prefer stories to be self contained.

I enjoy the idea of the same characters in multiple books. However I also enjoy having stand alone novels and not committing or feeling obligated to commit to a 15 book series.

Oh man... Why are you giving Kevin props. His head is going to swell...
Oh man never seen you without a hat on... A first for the channel.
What a great discussion question... I was literally thinking this last night as I was trying to add a book to my Kindle for night reading in bed. I wanted to do the Clive Custler series you are reading but it's a little overwhelming starting all these series. I didn't pick Clive because the library didn't have book one but if I had that would be about 5 series I have started and not one of them finished.
    Should be a good discussion.

I had to show off the new haircut😂 I think you’ll enjoy the Dirk Pitt series. This is one I think if we could do a review together over zoom or something we’d probably spend 45 minutes comparing it to action movies and laughing about some of the dialogue in the book😂

It depends on the individual reader and what their priorities are. If you are reading 15 series and you want to complete them by the end of 2025 then you probably have too many on the go. I think you have to consider your available reading time, what else you want to read, as well as your reading goals and timeline. For me, 2 or 3 at once is probably the limit in the short term but I might have as many as 10 or more ongoing over a long term. By the way, I just finished The Professor and the Madman and loved it. Thanks for the recommendation and you did not steer me wrong. My library had the DVD movie as well so I plan to watch it this weekend.

I agree reading goals as well as how much time you have definitely affects how much you read at one time. Thanks for your input! And I’m glad you enjoyed the book! Let me know what you think of the movie!

@@OuterWorldMedia The movie was a fairly good adaptation and followed the book quite closely with the exception of a few details that didn't really have a negative effect on the story. If you get the chance, definitely watch it. Mel Gibson is James Murray and Sean Penn is W C Minor and both were good in the roles.

I'm probably not the one to ask. I tend to avoid series in general, and I don't even like to have multiple books going at once. At most, I do one piece of fiction and one of nonfiction at the same time, along with any essays, magazine articles, or short stories that I work in kind of randomly. As far as series go, I would definitely want to stick with one at a time if the books have a continuous plot and have to be read sequentially. If we're talking about the kind of series where the books stand alone and can even be read out of order, I wouldn't mind having a couple going at once.

I’ve only read a nonfiction and fiction book at the same time together a couple time and I really enjoyed it and I need to do that more often. Thanks for your input!

I definitely feel like I’m in the middle of too many series. And there’s so many more I want to start!! I have a goal for next year to complete 10 series that I’ve already started.

Usually three series at a time is my max. Preferably it would be two longer series (10+ books) and one shorter series (trilogy). Theres also not enough trilogies out there, it seems like everything now has to be 30+ books.

    • @OuterWorldMedia
      @OuterWorldMedia  21 день тому

That sounds like a great balance for reading multiple series. I agree there aren’t enough trilogies written. Thanks for your input!
